INT – A DARK CORNER OF THE CABIN BASEMENT
Close on a window, showing the setting sun. The camera pans from the window to a figure sitting nearby. It is a strange demon, small and twisted; it looks more like a child’s doll than an actual flesh-and-blood being, but its glowing red eyes betray its true nature. It addresses its unseen co-conspirators.
TINY DEMON
Sun’s almost down. Brace yourselves, everyone; it’s going to be an interesting night.
CUT TO – AN UPSTAIRS BATHROOM (INT)
We hear the sound of water running. The camera finds Omi No Kami sleeping peacefully with his head against the shower wall. Suddenly he awakens, screaming in surprise and dismay. After a beat, he fumbles for the shower controls.
OMI NO KAMI
Cold! Cold! The hot water’s gone? I must have been in here all day.
He turns off the faucet… but as he does, we see a shadow move past the closed shower curtain.
CUT TO – EXT – THE DIRT FIELD BEHIND THE WOOD CHIPPER
The camera approaches the figure of Rysto, on his knees, scrabbling in the dirt with wild-eyed intensity. So absorbed in his task is he that he does not see the long, dark shadow that approaches him from behind.
CUT TO – INT – A HALLWAY IN THE CABIN
Various partygoers mill about, in and out of rooms. At one end of the hallway stands Idle Thoughts, watching the crowd intensely. After a moment his eyes narrow, focusing on something or someone out of the camera’s view. He begins to move down the hallway with grim purpose.
CUT TO – THE BASEMENT AGAIN
We see the tiny demon from before.
TINY DEMON
They’ll never know what hit them.
CUT TO – THE BATHROOM AGAIN
Omi No Kami has emerged from the shower, the camera perspective concealing enough of his form to avoid an NC-17 rating. He looks around for a towel, approaches a closet. As he places his hand on the doorway, we hear a strange sound from within.
OMI NO KAMI
What was that?
He throws open the linen closet. We switch to a POV shot, from within the closet, staring out at Omi’s horrified face.
OMI NO KAMI (terrified whisper)
What in the hell is that?
OMI’s face suddenly gets larger, as the figure in the closet leaps at him. We fade from his terrified grimace to:
EXT – THE DIRT FIELD
We see Rysto’s body, sprawled near the hole he was attempting to dig. The camera pans away from his body to the edge of the cornfield, a few feet away – where sits Rysto’s head.
CUT TO – THE BASEMENT
TINY DEMON
Ha ha ha ha ha ha!
CUT TO – THE HALLWAY, OUTSIDE IDLE’S ROOM
From within we hear an ear-splitting scream. Two nearby extras burst into the room, calling.
EXTRA 1
Idle? Idle? Are you all –
But the room is empty… save for a strange pile of ash in the middle of the floor. Atop the ash sits a necklace with a nondenominational religious symbol attached.
CUT TO – THE BASEMENT
TINY DEMON
Ahh… that was tremendously satisfying. Don’t you think?
He looks around, but there is no one there. His fellows have all gone on to other tasks, or to sleep. Then, he catches sight of something else, something nearby, regarding him. His face falls.
TINY DEMON
Oh, you have got to be freaking kidding me.
His death wail, when it comes, is more resigned than horrified.
CUT TO – THE KITCHEN – DAWN
The group, now noticeably smaller, gathers. Late to arrive is Telecontar. Finally he stumbles in, bleary eyed.
TELCONTAR
Hey, guys, sorry, I slept like crap. What’s up? What are you all looking at?
*POV - the rest of the group. In bright red letters, composed of fire, the word “Scum” has been etched across Telcontar’s forehead. *
TELCONTAR
What’s up?
Cut to – THE ZOMBIE SQUIRREL, sitting on top of the refrigerator. It regards the camera, chitters for a moment – it’s still very cute, although it now has no nose or left paw – then scurries away.
Omi No Kami, The Stubborn Skeptic, who was Town (Vanilla), has died.
So has Idle Thoughts, the Inexperienced Religious Figure, who was Town (Investigative).
Also Rysto, the Grave Robber, who was Town (Other), as well.
And, finally, the fourth death of Night Two: Astral Rejection, the Trickster, who was Scum (Other).
To avoid the inevitable questions: no player on this list was mod-killed; all have died as a result of in-game mechanics.
