nemo, I like the RAV4, but my budget is more along the line of Yaris (my current ride), Corolla or Matrix. I do like the dark red that Toyota has. SIL bought a new Camry this summer in that shade and it’s sharp.
Thank you for that; however, it doesn’t negate the fact that I must inform you that you’re being kicked out of the lazy schlub bachelor club. Explody ovens are a wunnerful ider!

Setting up second new 'puter of the week. First one they built for me was partially-FUBARed enough that they ended up building a new one earlier today & now I’ve got to do the necessary irk to make it mine.
[ol]
[li]Forty bazillion windows updates & reboot the 'puter.[/li][li]One more windows update that just couldn’t be bundled with the first batch. :mad:[/li][li]Install a real browser or five (no, I am not using IE!).[/li][li]Copy data over. Started with just one directory, it’s between 2.5 - 3 T’s, yes, Terabytes. I started it before I went out, it estimated 7 hrs left. When I came back a few hrs later the estimate had changed to…1 day! :smack: WTF? (Yeah, I know, it gets severely whacked out with estimates on large data moves.)[/li][li](Probably tomorrer) start installing all of my software[/li][li]Sometime after that: set all of my preferences & such.[/li][li]Use new 'puter.[/li][li]See if I can recover whatever I’m missing from the old 'puter. I’m good with backing up my data, but there are a couple of things that aren’t, like the /Downloads directory & my bookmarks file.[/li][/ol]
So it’s the irst on the month, and my store had the only working money order machine in the area. I did a week’s worth of business in 1 day.:eek:
: scribles notes for road trip :
Important? Like “Candy crush”?
Congrats!
Got home from irk about 11:30 and already have the car half packed ----- and I still have one more day of work left since we don’t leave until Thursday AM. Yes I am chomping at the bit.
I ended up changing to a flight tomorrow morning. One more night at my mom’s house before flying back home. I hope this week starts trending to the positive. Maybe I should just start ignoring the news…
Today just kinda needed to be kicked, but not as badly as that one really awful one a few weeks ago. I’d give this one maybe two middle fingers.
One of said fingers is devoted to the dearly loathed transit “system” in this area. OK, the train running a little late due to accident on/near tracks (my train was not involved) is forgivable. Things happen. The bus that stealthed out from the station and caused me to be a few minutes late because I had to catch the next one (couldn’t afford Lyft today), not so much. Hey, driver, you’re normally a nice guy, but what’s with not turning on exterior signage so prospective passengers couldn’t tell which line you were until it was too late to catch you? For bonus points, train home was delayed, reason unknown.
The other finger can be shared by grandboss and her “gotta remind them they’re equipment, not people” attitude toward subordinates, and whoever thought it would be a good idea to make it easy to somehow invert the color scheme on an Android Nougat phone but hard to figure out how to put it back. Oh, and whoever decided to screw up my phone’s Chrome install to disallow a blank home page (I think my carrier is the offender here) can have its share too.
Still getting used to the new phone, purchased about a week and a half ago to replace one that chose to do a sidewalk dive screen-first out of my hand. Battery isn’t quite as good, screen’s a bit bigger (which is a plus), and the fingerprint reader can be pretty cool. I especially like that my credit union’s app now uses my fingerprint to sign me in instead of a password. Much more secure, IMO.
Have we heard from Sahirnee lately?
Will things ever return to normalcy like my sleep habits? I am growing weary of the constant power outages. It was off for three hours night before last and was off when I got home from irk yesterday. Long enough to crank up the generator again. I know there are people much worse off than us but this is wearing thin. We still have one refugee that looks like he may be a permanent fixture. As a single man the priority is on placing families who have lost homes so we are the lucky ones stuck with this one. He is an employee of hubby and they are working seven days a week. He is sleeping in hubs office but still just having another person around all the damn time is getting on my last nerve. The neighbor couple that were here off and on finally went back to their wreck of a house.
My husband is a good and decent man and refuses to allow me to file a FEMA claim or any insurance claims. His rationale is “there are many ppl much worse than us”. I have been working albeit shorter hours. I have almost finished EOM/FOM. We have no customers as all the base housing stock which normally has vacationers is being used for first responders and displaced families. We are just open with no reason to even be there except to get a paycheck.
I fear I am getting a tad bit depressed over this entire thing. I did wish for a small storm and feel guilty about that but not the CAT 4 we got and not an entire lost month thus far. I can’t seem to keep up with the date, or even month. I filed my travel claim yesterday so that was painless. I expect about a grand back. Everywhere one looks there is destruction. Every single place has a debris pile. We got off lucky.
Yesterday at irk a couple of social workers came around asking how we were doing with stress.When they found I am a Big Piner they glommed onto me. I am really OK just need my beautiful scenery back, my busy irk life and normalcy.
Hubby has more work than he can resonably do in a year. Our regular branch of his bank is closed due to storm damage so I have been taking his deposits to KW with me. Just this week he deposited a huge amount of money. Not all profit but still much more than is normal. Consequently he is grouchy and worn out. I tried to tell him part of being self employed is the ability to say no. Can’t do that. People are counting on him…ppl need A/C…ppl will die without it… just one more excuse for him to over work himself and be even grouchier.
I need a vacation. Yet I was away for over two weeks.
**doggio **- you may bite my big toe.
**Sunny **- I’m reducing the amount of news I’ll allow myself. It’s overwhelming. I was wondering if all the bad news has led or will lead to more suicides. I wouldn’t kill myself, but I feel like I just want to go away. Vacation in 2 weeks - maybe that will help.
**sari **is also less active on FB but she is alive and functioning, and posting occasional adorable pics of her new pup. Maybe I’ll remember to message her…
**Butters **- talk with the social workers - it can’t hurt and it might help. You’re dealing with a lot of crap, your world has been upended and you’re surrounded by daily reminders. It can’t help but affect you. At a minimum come here and bitch, then poke a few folks with a pointy stick - that’ll cheer you up! I suggest you start with **doggio **because he case aspersions on my work ethic!!
Rough night last night - my gut started acting up around 1:30 and I was up for more than an hour. It’s gonna be a long day, methinks. Happy Wednesday anyway!
Blurf. I’m surprised it’s Wednesday already but I’m also happy about it.
Nemo, I’m really surprised that they gave you the original deal. I used to work at a dealership (in the service department) and you don’t see that kind of thing happen everyday.
I am so sleepy this morning, it’s ridiculous!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 85 for the day and N.O.S. I opened the windows on the back side of da cave for some fresh air. Nice! Today is geezer day at the Pubic Sto’ so I shall go lay in provisions. We shall sup upon Stouffer’s [sup]TM[/sup] lasagna, green sallit and garlic bread sticks. I want some lasagna.
{{{Butters}}}
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify so as to go about the public at the Pubic Sto’. That will happen when goin’ to irk and skool traffic dies down.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
{{Butters}}
Another day of insurance basics today. You all know you envy me.
**{{{nettie}}}
{{{butters}}}**
I’m up and fixing to shower to go to my appointment with the PCP. No breakfast and I’m drinking tea (I drink that plain) because bloodwork.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing tonight. And it’s the start of my favorite season. hockey.

Today there were 6 important & 4 optional updates, the most recent one is two weeks old, but some are from last year. :smack: I think Microsquash does updates on new computers the way someone goes shopping w/o a cart. - I can hold this many items. Goes up front to dump them on the checkout lane, then goes to the next aisle. Rinse & repeat. :rolleyes:
Fall began yesterday.
I am up and cramming food as fast I can into my maw, so that I may take my new pills. Hopefully they will help break this latest cycle of headaches.
Butters As far as an insurance claim goes, it isn’t about who is worse off. If you’ve been paying premiums for years (I assume you have), then file by any deadline for any claim you have. Otherwise you’ve pissing money up a rope. The insurance company will survive. In fact, they make more money than many small countries. If you qualify for FEMA, do the same if you need any help. I think those might be loans, so you may not want it. If it makes your hubby feel better, do it later so that other claims are processed first. You should still do it.
I get to see Pepper-pup and family today!
Provisions have been procured and stowed where they live in da cave. Also, fresh sheets are upon the bed and the sheets I took off the bed are in the washer. Go Me!
swampy, I assume you did your domestical chores in a frilly apron and an understated strand of pearls.
(Dog listed first) At least you have your priorities straight!
:mad:There :mad: is :mad: not :mad: enough :mad: brain :mad: bleach, :mad: & :mad: you :mad: have :mad: forever :mad: ruined :mad: the :mad: look :mad: of :mad: a :mad: someone :mad: wearing :mad: a :mad: sexy :mad: French :mad: maid :mad: outfit :mad: for :mad: me.:mad:
**spidey **- I was thinking June Cleaver, you perv!!
That ain’t helping much, FCM.
Half a loaf of Raisin Bread (8 slices if you’re counting) toasted, buttered and consumed.
Heading out to water the lawn in a minute.
Had another Medicare call this morning–guess I need to do my homework so I can answer these morons..
