FCM told me I had to start the week’s MMP~I’d been shirking long enough

And I’m back from my stops - I added a fuel stop to fill the Sonata, just because.

I could NOT believe the prices on some building materials - a quarter-inch thick sheet of OSB was $40!!! I have half a dozen sheets of half inch OSB in the basement - maybe I need to install an alarm system?? But I got the stuff I needed, and Lowe’s was giving all us moms a little rose bush for Mothers Day. Thinking I’ll put mine in one of my porch planters so I can see and enjoy it!

FCD was up when I got home, but he went back to bed. Poor guy has a terrible time sleeping - he’ll drop off, but if he moves, the pain wakes him. He’s tried sleeping in his recliner, but that doesn’t work. He tried the guest bed - no luck. He’ll see his surgeon a week from Weds, if he makes it that long… :frowning: No, it’s not fatal, but this recovery is really hard on him.

Meanwhile, I need to haul my purchases to the basement and get some work done. Not sure how much I’ll do today. I just don’t feel it right now.

Got my second dose of vaccine Friday. 19 hours later, I was getting pretty tired. I took a nap for about an hour or so in the early afternoon, and was tired the rest of the day. After about 8 hours of sleep, I’m feeling normal today. So far.

Good morning and Happy Mother’s Day to all those who are moms are or fulfill mom roles.

I went to a plant nursery yesterday that I hadn’t been to in probably 25 years. I don’t know why, because it’s a lot closer than the nursery I typically use. At any rate, they had HUGE flowering baskets for 35 bucks a piece which is an awesome price. They usually start at 50 bucks at my usual nursery. Turns out the nursery owner grew these himself because he has had trouble getting plants in from his usual suppliers. I went to the nursery with the intention of buying some kind of plant for my mother and my daughter as Mother’s Day gifts, but the baskets were so lovely that I bought one for myself.

After that, I went to the grocery store to get brat food diet stuff for Polar, my dog, still managed to somehow spend over 200 dollars.

Polar has been sick and had horrendous diarrhea on Friday. It was so bad he refused to come in the house, poor guy. I was going to take him to the vet yesterday if there wasn’t any improvement, but by yesterday, the diarrhea had stopped. We didn’t feed him on Friday at all (to let his tummy settle) and yesterday evening I boiled up some chicken thighs and added that to rice along with a splash of bone broth and some pumpkin puree. The puree helps with upset tummies. He ate it all up and I didn’t see evidence of the immediate release of said dinner. So that was a good thing.

We also had to bathe Polar yesterday because his back end was a mess from the watery poo. He seemed more himself yesterday, but today he’s back to being lethargic. I am hoping it’s because he’s just trying to recover. If there is no significant improvement from that, I will have to take him to the vet.

The kids, grandkids, and my mother are coming over today. I need to get to vacuuming and floor washing in just a bit. I was going to do it yesterday, but between the erranding, the dog bathing, and various other things, I just never got to it yesterday. Frankly, I don’t know what craziness prompted me to volunteer to celebrate here. On the other hand, I can keep an eye on Polar since everyone will be here today.

Okay, off to wash dishes, vacuum, and wash floors.

shady, Aldi and TJs are somewhat - kind of related Aldi Trader Joe’s, so that’s likely the reason for similar practices. IIRC, World Market is in the same family tree too.

Glad Polar is on the mend taters.

Happy mother’s day to the MMP moms!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and ready to do KP. Not a whole lot shaking today except the usual Sunday chores.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

The deep sink has been removed, the shelf beside it is uninstalled, and the walls in that corner have been scrubbed. I also fixed the sweep under one of the basement doors. Not sure if I’ll get remotivated today. Just not feeling it…

Happy Day to all you Mothers!

I put the new utility (‘deep’) sink together just now. I texted and emailed the plumber yesterday morning, but haven’t heard back from him.

Why do I need a plumber? The pex pipe comes out of the floor. There’s a ‘plug’ type T connector so water goes the the sink and to the washer. The new sink came with braided steel pipes and new drain plumbing. I want to have shut-off valves installed so we don’t have to turn the water off at the street whenever I want to do maintenance. I also want the piping to be more user-friendly with screw-type connectors. The new sink has a spray hose attachment, which I didn’t connect to the faucet because I don’t have any plumber’s tape. I’m thinking of knocking out the hole on the other side to have a place to store the drain plug.

Good afternoon all and a Most Happy Mother’s Day too all you Mother’s out there. Slept till 7:30am and Dined early at Outback, so am home and stuffed. 78F and cloudy with some rain predicted, but looks like red is getting the brunt of it right now. Dishes are quietly washing and I’ll do some picking up here in a bit, also need to call my Brother for his B’day, and wish Sis-in-Law a Happy Mom Day.

taters, glad Polar is doing well. And sounds like you scored a good deal at the plant nursery.

flyboy, congrats on the 2nd jab; I wonder how many MMP’ers have been fully vaccinated to date; I suspect we’re ahead of the 33% of all Americans (of course, that may be because we have a lot of old geezers like me…).

shady, for some reason (maybe because I don’t have a cell phone), I never got in the habit of using Doordash/Grubhub. I have ordered and picked up myself during the plague, but having people deliver food to me when I’m perfectly capable of fetching it myself…

OK, back to thinking about tidying up the house. All y’all have a great Sunday.

Called my mom earlier and got all kinds of assorted family news. Top among it all: my sister’s husband has cirrhosis of the liver and ascites. He’s always been a pretty heavy drinker, and the chances of him not drinking are pretty tiny. So if I understand what I’ve read on line, he may not live much longer than a year.

Then there’s my cousin’s son-in-law who refused to wear a mask and insisted COVID was a hoax. Yep, he’s got it now, and he shared it with his wife. They’ve got a 3-y/o daughter (born a couple weeks after Roxy.) I feel sorry for my cousin having to deal with this.

On the plus side, Mom is doing well, so there’s that.

I couldn’t bring myself to do anything else in the basement - I’ve been afghaning. Supper will be tuna steak, fried russet chunks with onions, green beans, broccoli. Apart from cooking supper, laziness shall abound.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, et up leftovers for N.O.L., achieved nappage, futzed around, and the biiiiiiiiiiig trash can (along with the neighbor’s (she’s outta town) trash can) has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Now we shall sloth. One must get in one’s RDA of sloth.

Hope all you mother types have had a happy Mothers Day. Is this just an Amurrkin thing? I have never been sure about Mothers or Fathers Day bein’ done in other places. I know some places celebrate Mothering Sunday on the fourth Sunday in Lent.

Taters hope Polar is better today poor baby. ::skritches:: from Unca swampy.

The tuna steak was mega-yum!! Dishes are now done and I’m about to re-resume the recline/crochet position. Looks like I’m Roxy-free tomorrow, so I hope to get some yard work done, weather permitting. I did a little weeding today, but there’s lots more to be weeded, plus I need to get some stuff transplanted, including the sunflowers I started inside.

But I shall join swampy in slothage for the rest of the day. Join him virtually, that is, since he’s there and I’m here and neither of us will be teleporting.

Please say it was seared rare.

Pretty rare - not blue but definitely red inside.

Got chores done today and supper is on the table desk(albondigo and cilantro-lime slaw if you’re curious). I see sloth on the schedule for the rest of the evening.

You were right. We began round 5 for the week about the time that you posted this. I’m tired of rain.

I finally broke down and bought the salmon with pesto butter from Costco. I just put it in the oven, so it should be done about 16:50. I’ve trimmed the green beans, and will sauté them in olive oil and red pepper flakes, with garlic.

I’m not a mom, but they gave us carnations to hand out at work today. Towards the end of the shift, my manager was like, “Just give 'em to every female!”

So I made a lot of people smile today, which was a wonderful feeling.

Got some pork cooked and shredded. Wound up with a lot more than I think we’ll be needing in the near future, so I need to freezer-pack some. More freezer Tetris on the agenda. What laundry was needed is churning, and I would love some sort of EMP weapon that can selectively target boom-car subwoofers for destruction.

Had a little bit of an Amazon spree for stuff like kitchen equipment that was due for replacement.

One cousin of mine had a bit of a surprise with her first-born (a boy). She had him on her lap while changing him and he got her in the face. Looking back, I wonder why this was not something she would anticipate, since she has younger brothers.

The pesto salmon was fantastic – and no work! Mrs. L.A. found the green beans too spicy. :frowning: (I didn’t.)
