red - the one piece that I was most concerned about has been moved. I had bought a set of slider pads to go under furniture on carpets. I just had to lift the corners and slip the pads underneath. Then it just slid away from the wall. The tables were light enough that I “walked” them out - move one end, walk around and move the other end, etc. Everything’s away from the walls and shortly, I’ll head back down there and start scrubbing.
And I discovered that the patching compound had gone all moldy and gross, so it’s in the garbage and I’ll need to buy another bucket. Dammit. I was hoping to avoid Lowe’s this weekend. But I did find a can of the gray paint that we used originally around the bottom of the walls and I think there’s enough to put another coat on. Plus lots of white = trim and doors.
Dealing with the same regarding my mom and my inlaws. What was really striking was my mom admitting she can’t do things like she used to. She used to brag about carrying 50# bags of mulch just a few years ago. No longer.
What’s even more disturbing is when I look in the mirror and see an old lady staring back at me. What’s that all about???
OK, lemme grab a quick lunch, then get back to work.
The election is actually the 18th, so we won’t know the outcome until them. Orygun has mil in ballots, so we get to fill ours out ahead of time. Anyway, I’ll let y’all know.
Wat’s funny is the local newspaper, that’s normally quite conservative, did an expose on these yahoos. Of course, they immediately accused the newspaper of being biased. Unfortunately, I’m not sure many of the people around here read.
I’ve washed just about all the walls in the basement. I still need to do the corner around the deep sink, but that means I have to remove the deep sink - we’re replacing it after the new flooring is installed. I just don’t feel like messing with plumbing right now, however simple it is. So I’m going to crochet and watch Netflix.
FCD walked thru the yard to the basement to see what I’d been doing, then he walked back. I think it kicked his butt. He crawled back into bed. I keep telling him that’s what he needs to do if he’s tired. His body is trying to heal and that takes a lot of energy. So he’s snoozing and I’ll have control of the remote!
Afternoon all. Soccer started early today, 8am to pickup pictures then 8:30am refereed and at 10:30am coached on another field and at 1pm coached on another field and finally refereed again at 3:00pm. Got home at 4:40pm, collapsed in my chair here and have great doubts about getting back up again. Still, things went well, temps were in the 60’sF, we got a few drops of rain but by the afternoon it was sunny out.
Need to fix some dinner soon (so far my meal of the day was a package of Smartfoods White Cheddar popcorn and a Mountain Dew). If I can decide to stand up…
Have read all but just don’t have the gumption to reply. All y’all take care.
Sounds like we oughta somehow stop by and take some care of you! Yikes, what a day!
Hope the city throws you a ticker-tape parade at some point. Or, at least, you get some kid let hugs at the last game of the season and some sincere thanks from parents.
Metal Mouse, you and Moooom seriously need to get with Swampy for some sloth lessons.
Went to Walmart this afternoon; spotted the “Covid-19” signs at their pharmacy and decided I might as well finally get my shot. Got the J&J so I wouldn’t have to worry about going back for the second shot.
Mom, does the empty fortune cookie mean a dull future?
Jeans and tops are clean and towels are in the wash. Groceries are bought and Nelson had some dog park time. The cheap Chinese down the street fixed supper. Now for chillage.
Howdy Y’all! Company came. We drank, we laughed, we ate, we made merry. Then they left. I love company both comin’ and goin’. Dishwasher is dishwasherin’ away. OYKW is abed and I shall be shortly.
My daughter is convinced Baby 2.0 will be a boy. I don’t want a boy - they turn into fountains when you go to change them. Roxy doesn’t want a brother either. Smart girl!
We just watched Columbo - that show cracks me up! But now I’s tahred and I think I’ll mosey back to bed. Early trip to Lowe’s to get spackle - the stuff we had was all moldy and gross - or did I say that already? Probably did - too lazy to go back and check.
Yeah, yah did, but that’s ok. Spackle makes me tired too.
Frustrating grocery store run~first, Aldi’s didn’t have 4 out of 5 of the things from their ad that I drove alllll way the other side of town for. Don’t put an enticing ad in my mailbox, lure me there and then not have the stuff. Never going to Aldi’s again-I don’t care if everybody raves about what a great store it is. Plus half the shoppers had either no mask or their nose hanging out. Exactly zero of the patrons at HyVee had their noses out. Then a lightning storm alert, followed by ‘tboomers and rain while I was fighting with the bags to load the car. Dang back hatch wouldn’t open no matter which switch I hit. At least I got home and got the emergency cat food in the house before the kitties had to kill me and eat my liver in desperation. Pretty sure they called in a drone strike on me though and that is what the lightning was about.
Must have been Chinese food weekend for the MMP. DH and I ordered in enough last night to cover us for at least a few days.
Got some adulting done, such as paying off some more debt, cashing in recycling, picking up a library hold, and rather overstocking on breadstuffs (bagels, mini-croissants, sandwich rolls, and such). Got the car fed, too. An interesting round of freezer Tetris, with a bonus fridge round, still awaits. One load of laundry was run, still sitting in the dryer.
Oh, tell me about it. It took until number two to teach me to cover the spigot with a wash cloth. Though it is rather amusing (and vaguely satisfying) when they get themselves in the face.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 53 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 91 and N.O.S. for the day. Quite a temp contrast there. Toward the end of this week high temps are predicted to be around 70 which is way cooler than normal. Weather be weird. The main item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. We have leftovers from last night for Sunday N.O.L. and that works for me. Other than that who knows what the day may hold.
Boo I feel the same way about Target. Target will advertise great specials yet the one here never seems to have any of it in stock. I long ago quit goin’ there.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheatheization must commence.
I never see Aldi’s ads, so I’m never disappointed that way. And I rarely make a trip just there, since it’s a bit of a haul from me, tho they’re right across Rt 235 from my daughter’s neighborhood. Still, I generally go for things they always have - like eggs, butter, chips…
I’ll be heading that way in a bit - I pass Aldi on the way to Lowe’s, but they won’t be open this early, so after I get what I need to work on the walls, I’ll swing across Rt 4 to Rt 5 thru Leonardtown so I can stop at Food Lion for a couple of items. And once I’m home again, work on the walls shall resume. I’ll remove the sink, scrub the last corner, then set about patching holes. I know you wish you lived near me so you could share in the fun!!!
swampy - we’re way below normal temps also - hanging in the 60s when we should be mid-70s for highs. And it sure feels like it’s wetter than normal, but I can’t be sure. What’s bizarre is that the pellet stove is burning away next to me - usually it goes off for the year in April.
Yesterday’s post that didn’t go through:
There was a Second Sort, but I mostly got paid OT to stand around. Did laundry and napped, now it’s hockey time!
Watch out for falling Chinese rockets?
Today’s post:
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Last night I dreamed I was fighting off hordes of werewolves with a lightsaber. COME GET THE GLOW STICK, HECKIN’ BAD BOIS!
I made Chinese BBQ stirfry with broccoli last night, so yeah.
