My parents bought a big house in central Texas and I really, really, really don’t think it was a good idea. Within 20 years, the house may be well nigh uninhabitable, along with hundreds of miles of space around it. Too hot to live.
Got holes drilled in the bottom of Wifey’s big planter and helped her plant the 'maters in it.
Then I fixed the easier of the too leaks in the irrigation system. Took a little over an hour.
Judging by that, the leak in the front yard should take about 3 hours. Or more. I’ll leave that one for tomorrow, or later. It’s rained enough lately that there’s no hurry, except in Wifey’s mind.
It’s warmed up to 61f.
103 today, Phoenix is usually 10 degrees hotter. We bought in this area over 30 years ago because the weather was pretty good year round back then. Things have really changed since then.
He survived the night. Considering his general health, that wasn’t a given. I’m praying that he understands that if he discharges himself AMA again, he will probably die within a matter of days. I really want him to die in a bed instead of on the street.

Did you get to the bottom of the dishwasher issue VanGo?
bumba, several of the one bedroom apartments that I’ve lived in had 24" closet and bathroom doors. It made it difficult for one of my friends who was in a wheelchair to visit.
doggio, my tuna melt quesadillas were the SEC version. ![]()
Mooooooom, I have to agree with you about DJT.
I’m sorry about your mother sunny.
metal mouse, two of my BILs used to pass out treats to the pooches saying Corpus Christi before giving it to them (both raised RC in Texas, so not a stretch).
It hit 101F here this afternoon. The news from Nashville (23 miles NW from me) said 98F, but when I got off irk, the thermometer said 101F. Makes me greatful for AC. enipla, not in Texas, but middle Tennessee, where, like doggio in NC, it’s hooooooomid.
Irked, came, walked Nelson and et. Now for KP and chillage.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Hmph. I got my hair trimmed and styled, had a good workout at the gym, walked to pick up an Rx, came home, and realized I forgot to go to the bank. So I have to walk back over there. It’s only 1/4 mile each way, but I’ve done the equivalent of 10, and my dogs are tired: the tongues of my shoes are lolling.
I’ll do that and then call my sister, and that’ll be it for today.
red, how does Nelson tolerate the heat? Is he still excited about walksies when it’s 101º?
nellie, he’s OK with it most of the time, given that he had a desert dog (chihuahua) as a grandfather. He tends to sleep under covers even.
Howdy Y’all! Been a day of inside sloth hidin’ from the heat. No rain happened and I am not at all surprised as I thought TWPTB were not even near right in their prediction. The biggest thing that got accomplished was the makeage and eatage of sup. It was poke tenderloin, peas ‘n carrots, wild rice and rolls for those of you who are playin’ along. In a bit we shall crank up Vegas Vacation featurin’ the Griswold’s on Netflix. I predict it will be inane and vaguely stoopid, but also mindlessly entertainin’.
Nettie glad you were able to get a sooner appointment. Hope they can help you with the side effects issues. Yay for the feline detente.
WetOne welcome back! Ain’t retirement just da bomb!
Sunny sounds like new mattress time to me. Hope your mom can get the help she needs.
My neighbors took care of Ursala Kitteh and would not accept money, so I went to the oh so good butcher and bought them 2 ribeyes, 2 strip steaks, and 2 chicken kebabs. Meat is the grown up way to say thank you.
8:20pm, and the temp is down to…92F. I might need a Gatorade IV for work.

Add some dwarf onions, and you have a cocktail garden going.
Wet One you are a good egg.
It’s true. Pixel adored the heat, and liked to bake himself like Liberace in Vegas when he was outside.
Hi there, I can’t be the only one who thought @Beckdawrek started this MMP and be surprised that she didn’t. Or am I?
Small study by researchers at the University of Copenhagen. Not sure if it’s big enough to make the claim.
Moi??
You so funny.
Evening all. Mail got mailed this evening with all my annual donations to folks who will send me many requests for more donations…but nope, once a year and that’s it. Decided to try the Dairy Queen’s burgers and fries for dinner, they were adequate but nothing special. It’s starting to cool off now so internettin’ and readin’ are in the plan. Got some red dots and lines to go with the yellow ones on my yard, so now I don;t know if I should cut the grass or not…I do wish someone from the Gas Company would explain (or maybe I need to check their website…)
Bullitt, while I admire the thread creations of Beckers, we Mumpers have been doing this for quite awhile now, y;know…
wet one, as long as they aren’t vegetarians, I think you have done a very good thing.
JtC {{ }} to you and husband-unit for doing all you can for your friend; even if it ends badly, you tried your damnedest.
Ok, need to check on the NBA scores (Golden State winning in the 2nd qtr) and be about the evening. all y’all take care.
Hey, if someone thinks my thread title is Beck quailty, I’ll take the complement. ![]()
Oh yessir, I am fully aware that the Mumpers have been doing this for quite some time!
Keep on Mumpin’ on down the road y’all. ![]()
Howdy everyone. Hot as blazes here but not triple digits unless one adds in the heat index. Lazy day today. Got the yard mowed and it really needed it after all the rain we had.
Must clean house tomorrow as my Sonny boy’s girl has her daughter and five grandkids visiting and wants to meet me. I will put the Roomba to work on the floors while I spruce up the rest of the joint.
Happy belated birthday Flyboy and happy belated cake day Boo.
Everyone stay cool and healthy.
I’m sorry for neglecting youse all. I’ve just been too worried to post much because I hate to be all debbie downer all the time. As it happens, friend is feeling better today and is cooperating with the medical staff. Both of us have been reminding him that it’s not wise to bite the hand that’s trying to feed him and he seems to be listening. Or at least he isn’t arguing with us over it.
Hurricane George has been a terror today. He has knocked the new floor lamp over and now the top sconce isn’t working, I left a basket of clean sheets on the kitchen island and he knocked them over onto the floor and rolled on and in them in the time I was on the throne, he jumped over the baby gate and got trapped in the bathroom by our crabby old cat and peed all over the place in his panic. When he was rescued, he decided that he didn’t like taking a bath when we wanted him to get in the water and levitated out and around my neck, almost strangling me AND then dug in with all of his claws when hubs tried to remove him.
It’s a damn good thing he’s so cute.
I have decided, upon careful reflection, that I do not want a Maine Coon kitten. No reason.
I miss my vaguely related to coon cat’s kitten Clyde … he was a calico slightly smarter and more braver version of George and saved me from a very painful spider bite one night …
