Our Maine Coon sisters were the two sweetest kitties that ever lived. Still miss those girls.
That’s just because you are much smarter than me!
He’s really handsome and soft and non-aggressive. He outweighs our old crabby cat by at least 6 lbs but every time we hear them doing battle we charge in to save the healthy young kitty from the old sick one.
Apropos of nothing, I love people names for pets. It always entertains me when other folks use them too.
GG would eat a spider if he could get past all the eyes, but last week a Praying Mantis got in and faced GG down.
What size bed do you have? I might have a topper that might get you through until you are ready to buy a new one.
AWWWWWW!!!
What pretty babies! GG is 14 months old and as you know Maine Coons mature slowly. We can see the good kitty in the jerkface, he just has to grow into it. The main problem is that he just isn’t very smart.
GG was a grudge kitten. We had already agreed years ago that kittens were not welcome in our home. Once we got old and stuff, we agreed that we didn’t want pets that would outlive us.
Hubs refused to get vaxxed. The Best Cat in the World died of the very preventable diseases he showed up with as a stray. Hubs got COVID. I put down a bunch of money to buy a Maine Coon. We picked GG up and hubs bled for the next month because he has paper thin skin and kittens don’t understand claw control. Hubs got COVID again. I put a deposit down on another Maine Coon kitten. Hubs got vaxed and I gave up the deposit.
(The baby gate is to protect GG from our old crabby cat who can’t jump it. Every month or so, GG forgets what happens when he jumps over the gate and much drama happens. Old crabby cat struts around for days after kicking that jerk off his lawn.)
well he did have one fear … he hated the weekly trash trucks the minute he heard one of them he hid… it got to the point that he hid under my cousins bed for most of Wednesdays
We still have his sister tho whos in front of the screen letting me know they want dinner
lol they’re fed …tho Clyde spoiled Callie his sister cause he didn’t like soft food so he ate a bit to satisfy grandma and let his sister scarf down the rest …Now she thinks all the cats should do that and very old cats who tolerate her presence wonder why they didn’t eat her when they had a chance …
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
That’s why I have a Five Toed Sloth instead

Awwwww.
Woke to a warm, humid morning - 73°, but it feels hotter. Ugh. The Tobester is being dropped off this morning, but I have to fetch RoxStar at 3 and keep her till Mama gets off work at 5. Which means I need to feed her.And so begins our new routine. Or it will be a routine once I figure it our.
SIL asked if I’d keep the kids overnight on the 30th - that’s their anniversary. I’ve never kept Toby overnight so I need go figure out where he’ll go. I’m thinking I’ll set up the pack-n-play in FCD’s office and put the babby monitor in there. I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
My daughter’s bestest friend had a Maine Coon that she used to walk on a leash! I’d never seen anything like it before then.
I slept with Mel last night, so I’m a little out of it at the moment. Caffeine should help, right? I’ve been sneezing like crazy for no apparent reason - like multiples in a row. Never did that before. The older I get, the weirder my health issues seem to be. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat myself - getting old ain’t for sissies!!!
Happy Tuesday! And get off my lawn!!! ![]()
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 78 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 97 with a heat index between 105-110 and possible rain/tstorms/apocalypse in the early evenin’. TWPTB are way willy-nilly these days it seems. Today is laundry day and bug man comes this mornin’ to do his thing. Sup shall be bbq sammiches made from the leftover poke loin, slaw, and fries. Much sloth shall ensue as 'tis best to remain inside in the cool as much as possible on a day like this.
JtC poor GG! He has such awful misadventures. Still though, the clean sheets were a temptation you placed in his way, so shame on you for that!
Glad friend is doin’ a little better and listenin’ to those who are helpin’ him.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently cloudy and 48 degrees with an expected high of 62. The day will remain partly to mostly cloudy with a small chance of rain.
Our spring has been so cold and wet that local berries are delayed. The crops will also be much smaller and there will just be less of them overall. I was really looking forward to some juicy Puyallup strawberries. I feel bad for the rest of the nation that is either in the grips of a heatwave or on fire. The truth though is all this wet weather will just make our fire season much worse due to the rampant growth of grasses and shrubs due to all of the rainfall. All that stuff will dry up and become tinder for the forest fires.
I love the PNW, I really do. But, it’s certainly not the PNW I that I grew up in.
I have a long work day ahead of me. On top of that, I need to come up with training to present on Thursday. I don’t really want to, but we’re all required to present some training a couple of times a year. It wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t have to come up with a script, slides, and screenshots AND didn’t have a million other things to do.
I’m sorry about your mother, Sunny.
I hope things are getting a little better for you, shoe.
I’m glad your friend is settling down a bit, JtC.
Well, I suppose I should finish my coffee and get that kitchen squared away.
I got up this morning at 5:20 am for work and discovered that, because of the AC inside and the intense humidity outside, my windows were soaked with condensed water on the outside. Walked out the door and into the equivalent of a sauna. Made sure to do my outside workout yesterday because there is no way on God’s green earth that I’m doing it today! LOL
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 20c/69f < snerk > out there today and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Clouds suck. At least they aren’t fucking filled with screeching children” - they’ve either been listening to Mooom or they were on the train with me this morning and the horde of squealing schoolies from King Edward’s!
Today has been a thoroughly boring day - I had a 2hr “College Forum” meeting followed by a 1hr Head of Education meeting, and this afternoon I have a 2hr training thing on our End of Session processes. Most of this afternoon’s stuff I already know, but I am expected to attend anyway. I suspect it’s just to make the numbers up.
My week is already confused, normally Tuesday is grocery shopping night but we had to go yesterday instead. There’s a big soccer game tonight (England v Hungary) that’s at full capacity (30K) for fans…and the ground is 10 minutes drive from my house. That means a bunch of local roads are going to be closed for the duration of the match, the road immediately in front of the ground’s main entrance will be closed for an extra half hour either side of the game time, and we’re expecting those 30k visitors to arrive…and a load of them will be looking for somewhere to park a car. Not the best time to have to drive somewhere that’s close to the stadium, and surrounded by residential streets with available parking. Nope, getting in the house tonight and not coming out until tomorrow!
Good morning all! Happy Tuesday! I’m awake but am not up, and am certainly not caffeinated yet. It’s 0600 here in the Golden State, and I’m happy the Warriors won last night in game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead. Game 6 is Thursday night. Have a great day!
Morning all. Slept well and am currently awaiting the guy who will fix my carpet, but have no idea what time he will be coming today, so hanging around the house is the only firm plan I have.
boo fae, too many meetings, at least too many for me to stay awake for. And if you live that close to the stadium (I did look it up), youo probably should be used to it 20+ times a year…
Taters, I’m sure you’ll come up with something on the training front; perhaps how to herd cats (or mMPers…).
swampy, it’s almost that hot around here, 96F is supposed to be the high but without any rain.
JtC, poor GG, getting beat up by that mean ol’cat…but sometimes it reads like an old 60’s sitcom or cartoon…
FCM, hope the new routine goes well.
Can’t really say anything about cats, only one I’ve met was my brother’s years ago, the ting climbed onto my lap and we seemed to be hitting it off…then the *)(^&%^ bit me and ran off!! Strictly a dog person now.
Butters, enjoy the family gathering.
OK, onward into the day. All y’all take care.
Happy very belated birthday, flyboy! I hope the day was amazing.
We’re also in the midst of a heatwave. It was around 100 yesterday, and expected to get to 103 or so tomorrow & the next and then will cool down to a “respectable” mid 90s before heating up again. Overlygirl went to a friend’s house yesterday, forgot to use sunscreen and came home with her first-ever sunburn. At least she’ll stop insisting that being half Indian somehow makes her immune to sunburns. Anyway, her swim meet weekend was great. We didn’t manage the nail polish (which was fine since I’m not a polish kinda girl anyway), but since her age group started at or before 7 a.m., we were lounging well before lunch and spent more or less the entire afternoon watching movies.
I got the waddle done with the friend this morning. It was already in the mid-80s by 5:30 a.m. so we were walking sloooow, like walking through molasses, but we did the deed and our full mileage, so I had time to shower, lounge with coffee and knit before work.
This evening I take overlyboy out for his first “full” driving session since his surgery. Pray for me. Will there ever be a time when I’m not internally gritting my teeth when he drives?! I asked my mom about it and she said it’ll take about 30 years, no matter how cautious (and he’s a great driver).
Might have gotten a little over-optimistic about feline relations yesterday. Toward evening, we had a bit of a spat between them, complete with a yowl or two. No clue who started it or why.
Goo and Abbey slept in the same bed last night. I’m sure it won’t last.
Cloudy right now so it’s only 85. Hot at work of course.
“Let’s fight!”
" Them’s fighting words!"
< yowls >
I
my Mumper friends. Have had to fire up Coolio (my AC) because holy noses with the humidity.
Am slowly crawling through other stuff.
Have read little and retained nada but at least have a stash of popsicles, and a cat who occasionally tacklehugs me.
Exactly! That’s why I said kitten.
A cat would be lovely.
My Panda kitteh is likely related to some sort of forest cat. She is bigger than our other cats, took several years to grow, and just has this solid feel to her. Her skeleton has more mass, if that makes sense. I’ll try to find a good picture and post it. Her kittenhood wasn’t bad because, unfortunately, she was severely traumatized when she came to us at about 6 months. It took years before she was comfortable with anyone but me. We call her a cabbit. She very soft, and somewhat timid.
They look like very sweet kitties.
@Bullitt Hi! 2 questions for you. Do you have MMPer name yet? and Whereabouts in CA are you? A bunch of us are up in the Bay Area. I’m just wondering if you’re up this way too.
Metal Mouse I believe you have had the quintessential cat experience. The flip side is similar to that scene with Spock and the tribble. They’re warm, and furry, and cute, and they purr. Suddenly you have 3 of them, and several more seem like a reasonable idea. ![]()
This happens to my husband and I am mean enough to laugh. It drives him nuts, so he chases the rest of us around with sunscreen.
My cats have a frequent fighting game that goes like this: 2 or 3 cats curled up together, and one cat starts grooming the others. This is tolerated. Darn it, they still aren’t clean enough. She holds her victim down. This is a bit much. Words are exchanged. Ears are flattened. Slaps fly, and occasionally fur, and the cuddle pile disintegrates as cats peel off in different directions. They immediately stop and groom themselves. Cats.
As (I) predicted, yesterday’s forecast has changed completely. Now we have 90s today and tomorrow and then down to the 70s. I am convinced that TWPTB are just spinning a wheel and throwing a dart at this point. I’ll note that my cousin works in the Sacramento office. I must remember to share this theory with him for my own amusement. ![]()
I’m off for a waddle before it gets too ungodly hot. I’m not sure what else I’ll do today. Decisions, decisions.
Happy Tuesday everyone,
And my appointment got cancelled. Again. As of right now, can’t find an opening before the 29th with ANY suitable doctor at the nearby facility. I’m hoping I don’t wind up in the damn ER again before I get to a PCP! I at this point do not think I can continue with the lisinopril due to side effect problems, but I doubt it’s safe to not be taking it either. I NEED medical advice I cannot get!
