I have a rules question. Do the “sequential” thread titles always reflect “found” humor, i.e., threads in the same forum that have been shuffled into this specific order by the normal process of people posting? Or are some people just noting thread titles that would be funny together?
I’ve only occasionally participated, always strictly using found thread order, and consider it unsporting to game the system by posting in a thread to move it. But I’ve never been sure if other folks are doing that, and can’t recall seeing anything describing the process.
My understanding has always been that yes, they should be actually sequential. At most, you might note that the posts were “separated by one” or that they would work better in the opposite order or something. I’ve also seen people note that a particular sequence only came up in the “New Posts” lists or something like that.
That has always been my understanding, and what I’ve always practiced.
Guys, I have a confession: I’ve done this once. In my defense, my post to the thread I wanted moved was (if I may say so myself) reasonably funny, on point, and something that I would probably have posted anyway. It was relevant to the thread, and didn’t seem out of place. I mean, I make lots of stupid and unnecessary posts on this board, generally speaking, but that particular one wasn’t really one of them.
But, yeah, there was a sequential-related reason why I chose that precise moment to chime in with my two cents. I do feel ashamed about it, and I haven’t done it again since.
Of course, I would *never *use a combo from “New Posts”, as I consider it cheating. Well, that is, unless it’s funny, in which case I’ll make an exception.
How many exceptions can you make to your own rule before it’s no longer a rule? But, yeah, I always take care to mention it if I post something from “New Posts”, as I don’t consider it “properly” sequential.
