Well according the news the storm is over.
Still raining and windy but it’s not dark outside anymore.

Got 10 more minutes of tornado warning, like tornadoes look at their watches and knock off at a specific time.

Still have power, cable and phone so we are good to go.
Going to try to run to the store real quick and get some milk and juice for Sah-son.

When we had Isabel I went outside to look. I got hit in the face with a big wad of wet leaves. Now I stay indoors.

Here comes the sun!

Thank y’all for the crossed fingers!

Temp here plummeted 20° thanks to the storm. I’m still hearing rumblies of thunder, and it’s raining a little, but it’s cool enough that I shut off the air and opened the house. Supper will be grab whatever. We gots us a lazy night here.

Could Lord, Filbert, if you call them “Posties” it’s no wonder that evil doers don’t quake in fear with interfering with Her Majesty’s Mail!

I’ve made the decision that if this mortgage doesn’t go through I am just going to rent. To rent an apartment for $900/month when I can buy a house for under $500/month seems stupid but it is what it is. Of course knowing my luck the housing market will pick up, but my income is better so there is that.

Sah-son can make up his own mind, he can come with me or stay here.

My butterfly bush did okay but my lavender got a little squished.

“Postie” is a children’s breakfast food here. “Going Postal” in the Colonies means machine gunning half the neighborhood, but it appears “Going Postie” across the pond means being naughty and throwing away the mail.
What happened to you guys after WWII? The average British Postman could stop a Panzer unit with a Stern Look and save women and children during the Blitz by catching German bombs in his bare hands.

Well it’s either ‘Postie’ or Postman/woman- though there was a brief attempt at popularising ‘Postperson’ which, as well as being clunky, makes them sound somewhat deceased.

Better childish than dead, though going postal is an option here too

Yard is half mowed before the rain became painful, and now the power is out. Our half-cooked dinner is in the oven, and it’s just a matter of time before the UPS powering the phone system gives out. The UPS for my computers conked out about half an hour ago.

Calgon, take me away!

Unfortunately for you, ** FlyTWERP**, apocalyptic storm of tornadoes, monsoon rains, hail, locusts, & get French toadt fixin’s ended up being a big bust <snerk>; I drove home with my sunglasses on & windows wide open.
The other more serious panicable crisis is also over. Much like Swampy only having 12 rolls of TP, I had a SERIOUS Beermergency! I thought there was another six pack in the downstairs fridge but I musta drunk it. New case is now chilling away.

Bela Lugosi did well with embalming fluid, perhaps you should try that.

The ferret is hiding in an empty 12-pack box.
Perseus the cat is jumping up and down on the box, and slapping said ferret when he pokes his nose out.

I went out on the roof of the library where I worked once in an effort to see a tornado when I was supposed to be cowering in the basement.

I need to practice the ukulele like mad this weekend. Find some more Hawaiian music (and perhaps some additional music that I can try passing off as Hawaiian and hoping nobody notices… )

Smoke on the Water.
Tell 'em it’s about a volcano.

Hahaha!
Hey, I found a tutorial for playing the opening of Smoke on the Water on ukulele: SMOKIN' RIFF FOR THE UKULELE - UKULELE LESSON / TUTORIAL by "UKULELE MIKE" - YouTube

We’re not getting any apocalypse in the Swannanowhere Valley. It all seems to be passing northeast of us.

Just got back from the Meetup and ti was fun. I brought the Neverending Teal Blanket for attempt #3 or 4 I forget which. I got two rows done!

I also had to yell at the people at Wellspring about the notepad refills I ordered that turned out to be a shipping fiasco. A poison pen letter shall be composed. Bobbio, can I borrow that special ink you use? The one that bursts into flames when the receiver opens the letter/email?

Spidey out of beer! doggio will faint when he sees that. If it’s rainin’ French toads, I wonder, how do you know they’re French? Do they hop around talkin’ like Pepe LePew?

Dindin is et, collard greens are all washed, torn (one tears collards), bagged and in da fridge. I’ll cook ‘em up either tomorrow or Sattidy and they’ll get et next week. I even have a big ol’ ham hock in da freezer for seasonin’. YUM!

Spaz I’ve read many a word written by your alter ego Agony Aunt Ryl. Channel her and the poison pen letter will be just fine.

Swampy, can you bear to give away your collards recipe? A coworker in Virginia used to sell fish plates a couple of times a week, and I always got double greens because they were soooooo good! Just not had much luck making them myself. :frowning:

Nothing interesting today, except that, as its Thorsday, my sweetie sent me some storms without any rain, yay! My wardrobe just is not set up for summer work, lol.

I think our rain is all done now. It’s still nice and cool and I’m loving the open windows.

Gonna log off and knit the night away…

I own a rare and special bass clarinet with extra notes. A friend of mine who lives far away wants to rent it for the summer, because he needs a bass clarinet with extra notes for a show he’s playing in. He’s offered to me to pay for borrowing it, and I imagine he’ll come here to pick it up.

I’m still trying to decide whether to let him borrow it. On one hand, I do need some money, and bass clarinets with extra notes can be quite hard to find, and I don’t know where else my friend can get them from. On the other hand, I might want to play my bass clarinet during the summer, there aren’t any good repair shops near where my friend lives (and my bass clarinet, while good, is old, and often needs repairing), and besides, I’m attached to that instrument like mad, and worry about something bad happening to it.

I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to let down my friend, but I also kind of want to continue playing the bass clarinet through the summer (and worry about what might happen to it when I’m not there to take care of it).

Howdy all! It’s been a HOT week in ABQ; temps at or very close to 100 most of the week, so far. :frowning: Ah well, what can you do but try to stay as comfortable as possible, eh? So, I’ve been staying indoors in the swamp-coolered apartment. Today, though, I was supposed to get my shingles shot. Except that the shot-giver at Albertson’s Savon pharmacy switched her schedule and didn’t call me. :frowning: When I got there a little after 10 am, they told me she had to switch and wouldn’t be in until after 2 PM. Well, needless to say, I didn’t want to come back out in the horrible heat and tomorrow we have other plans. Gah, now it will have to be postponed again. Oh well! I just hope like heck that the chicken pox virus lurking in me somewhere (geesh!) won’t decide to rear it’s ugly head any time soon! LOL

Sorry for all the bad weather and storminess back east. We actually got a drop or two of rain just a little while ago gasp I’ll just be glad when the heat wave breaks, which it will hopefully happen soon. Hopefully!

At least tomorrow is FIRDAY. Good thoughts for all, and howdy to CatMan’s granddaughter!

Cool!

I got a flu shot from a pharmacist one year.
Looked and felt like he hit me with a baseball bat.
Son of a Bitch is on my “Little List.”
:dubious:
