You get points for creativity, but not neccessarily logic–not that I’m saying your logic is bad, exactly, but it seems like your proposed secret power either sows confusion or has the potential to be game-unbalancing–or maybe both.
WiFoM at it’s best.
Well, well, well. Goodnight, Nanook. Think that he’ll live to see toMorrow morning?
Things are now interesting.
Yes, interesting indeed.
And here I thought Nanook was playing Witch quite nicely by laying low. Little did I know that he was laying low because he was scum.
Nanook being scum puts storyteller back into play. Storyteller and pedescribe both being Wolves is a plausible Wolf ploy. pedescribe kills NBC, storyteller says he redirected pedescribe’s kill onto NBC, pedescribe confirms it, blah blah blah.
Of course Pleonast slipped up on this thread and confirmed storyteller, but the living players don’t know that. If I were in the game I’d be looking at storyteller a bit more closely. It really is the perfect Wolf ploy, sacrifice one Wolf to make another a ‘confirmed’ Magician. storyteller not getting nightkilled is neatly explained as he would be a ‘used Magician.’ Based on what the living players know, they should be willing to kill storyteller. If I were a Magician I’d be directing all kills towards storyteller.
I wish storyteller was a Wolf. I’d be in the thread calling for mucho scrutiny.
Squid is clearly a Vampire as the Necromancer is still alive, which explains the N3 2 kill night.
What isn’t clear is how the Witches’ protections went down Nights 1, 2 and 3. The presumption was that the Witches were protecting Nanook and that is why there were few kills on Night 2 as scum tried to take out the Witch. But if Nanook isn’t the Witch then who were they protecting and who got blocked. Since the real Witches know Nanook is lying, they would have protected someone else, presumably CatInASuit as the claimed Detective. But I find the outcomes troubling:
- Why didn’t the Witches protect brewha on Night One?
- If the Witches protected CatInASuit on Night Two, then who got blocked? CatInASuit said that Wolves killed Roosh… ie. Wolves didn’t try and kill CatInASuit. Two kills didn’t happen… I still don’t know why.
I suppose Squid might have taken a shot at CatInASuit just for kicks (Dio and CatinASuit have a thing going).
Much to ponder.
While it would be amusing for a Vampire Dio to take down townie CIAS in Conspiracy II, there’s no good reason for a Vampire to kill a Detective, is there?
And I get to do another mod-kill, this time due to post editing. Nanook’s time was numbered, anyway.
There is one small reason to gun for a Detective. It is highly unlikely that CatInASuit is the Necromancer, so killing CatInASuit avoids the yucky possibility of offing ones own teammate.
The more interesting result is Nanook being Cabal. On my way home from work I figured out that a Cabalist Nanook had blocked Diomedes on Night Two (that explains one missing kill) and therefore felt confident in naming him as a Night killer. I’m surprised he chose Wolf instead of Undead, as the indication is there are Two vampires. The percentages favor going with an Undead reading. Interesting play.
And I totally don’t believe that Nanook is the last Cabalist. There were three Cabalists in the previous game and the Cabal bit it real quick. I doubt that with a weak showing in C1 and a larger game in C2, that there would only be 3 Cabalists. Just not sensible.
As for the Faction that is “out of it, but don’t know it yet,” we had previously discounted the Wolves and Cabal as they would be aware of their “out of it” status. Now that Nanook is a false Witch, we can assume that the Witches are sitting on 3-ish investigations… most likely investigations that will decimate a faction, which could include Cabal and Wolves. The Witches played the Nanook situation very nicely. And Diomedes scum claim really bailed them out. I wonder what the Witches would have done if Diomedes had claimed Town and layed into Nanook. I think a counter-claim would have occurred… Now THAT would have been interesting.
Poor Oredigger, a nice shiny dagger and no one to stab Tonight. So close. (<-speculation)
So the question becomes, why was there only 1 kill Night Two? pedescribe wasn’t a Vampire, so there should have been 3 kill attempts. The only ways that there could be two Vampires and only have 1 kill Night Two is either a Witch block or a double kill on Roosh. Given that Pleo said that there was very nearly 0 kills, I’d guess that the other Vampire* was Witch-blocked. That Vampire very likely knows the Identity of a Witch, and the Witches must have a shrewd idea that somebody knows who a Witch is. With 3 investigations under their belts and no dead Witches, should that Witch claim, do you think? If they know of any scum it would be valuable to provide a Vig with targets.
- Assuming that CIAS was truthful about Diggit being a Wolf.
Because either he was a Witch, and the attack would be blocked, or he is scum, and scum would prefer to see scum from other factions get lynched(furthermore, Vampires would not know that he is not on their Side).
My Night Two interpretation:
- DiggitCamara killed Roosh.
- Diomedes was blocked by the Cabal.
- The Other Vampire either targeted Diomedes or targeted the Witches’ protected target.
Pleonast’s statement that there were almost no kills seems to indicate that DiggitCamara almost took a shot at the Witches’ protected target, who was presumably CatInASuit.
I’m somewhat surprised there’s little discussion by the players about secret powers, except the expected (and seemingly confirmed) Cabal kill power. I’d think storyteller would at least mention that secret power(s) may put some of his analysis off.
Or are the secret powers too much of a wildcard for them to worry about?
Three kills plus a mod-kill, and a slew of information. Fun for everyone!
And we now learn the Witches are now powerless, paving the way for the Cabal.
Now I get to see what everyone was thinking
I think I made a great Witch. Too bad I wasn’t, you know, ACTUALLY a Witch.
Looking back, I totally should have called Squiddy undead. I was thinking that I was more likely to hit wolf than vamp, but when you consider one wolf killer vs two vamps, the odds were better for vamp than wolf. Oh well.
Nuts, killed, and if CIAS is telling the truth, by my own teammate, too.
As always, I play just about exactly the same way as Scum as I do Town, although I think I tend to say less as Scum because I’m always worried about sticking my foot too far down my mouth.
One wonders what I did to “earn” the investigation from the claimed Seer. Was I too good at pretending to be Townie, or waving a giant “O HAI I IZ SUSPICIOUS” flag.
I’m excited to finally be able to check out this thread. And while I don’t have time to read through right now, I just have to say this:
I totally tagged **Hockey Monkey **as a Witch and got her eaten, based purely on post analysis. Even if the wolves lose, as seems quite likely, I am very happy about that little bit of work, and feel I did my team proud.
Arrrrroooooooooooo!!
Just read through this thread. sach, you had my number, you bugger! This was my first game as scum and I was trying really hard to be my post-happy Town self and forget my true identity. Actually, I don’t think anyone in-game had as good a read on me as you did (unless I was Vigged, in which case the Vig did). If I hadn’t been night-killed, I think I could have lasted several more Days without being a serious lynch candidate.
For the record, the reason we did not kill CatInASuit early on was because we thought there was a decent chance he was a Vampire. (FTR, that doesn’t mean we were the ones to eventually kill him - that’s still a secret.)
Oh good, that was exactly what I was aiming for.
