My brain has checked out before the end of the day. Guess that’s how it goes on Firday. So I’ll just make a few semi-lucid notes for Moanday morning, then tidy up and get outta here.
I’d like to do something with shrimp for supper - maybe a scampi? Or we’ll have PB&J. Decisions, decisions…
That’s a good idea too. I have a bunch of hospital pads around here. I also found my Nature’s Miracle granular stuff that makes wet messes sweepable.
I told the vet he has loose stools and she said that can be normal what with the stress of a new home and different food. He’s still active and happy, so I don’t think he is sick. I’ll cut out the canned food for a few days.
Rosie - I have been wanting to try the fritatas, but the store up here doesn’t carry them.
Reminds me of a T-shirt I saw recently: “My brain is giving me the silent treatment today.”
Home early due to having some sort of fast-onset crud. Felt fine when I got to irk, within two hours, raging sinus pain and sore throat. Slow day anyway, so IMO no harm done to callers or co-irkers, and if I knock this out early, less passing the bug to others.
Sup made a comment or two about taking care of one’s health. I didn’t say anything, but was definitely thinking unpleasant thoughts, since I routinely get awards for GOOD attendance and by her own admission, she’s on a disciplinary for her POOR attendance. I’m old enough to have a child her age and stay a lot healthier. Of course I don’t smoke (tobacco or pot. She uses both, and I’m quite sure she’s high at work a lot), nor do I consider getting smashed on weekends a hobby (she admits this is not a rare event in her life). I also do not come to work when gagging up my lungs or streaming snot, etc., which she does. I’ve been ill once that I know of BECAUSE of her “just tough it out” POV.
No one is eating my pets, temporary or otherwise. Buncha meanies
Took the car in for a service today, and a wheel bearing fell to bits while they were doing it, so it wound up costing quite a bit more than expected. Bah. I had ideas for fun stuff with that money…
Spousal unit had a bad day. After he finished waxing the car, he decided to go get some lunch. Naturally, a bird flew over his car and gave him a trio of gifts… Then when he was shaking up the stuff to clean the leather seats, the lid flew off, and the cleaner spewed across the door and the hood and his shirt. He was not amused.
He declared he’d prefer to forage at home for supper, so I’ve got shrimps thawing. I’m just going to steam them, and whether he eats them or not is his choice. So that takes care of supper.
I think a trip to the vet may be happening.
Poor kitty is still running for the litter box, but he doesn’t seem to feel bad. He’s still active and playing. The laser pointer was delivered today and he loves it. I’m glad I found another jug of kitty litter, and I’ll soon be opening another box of baking soda.
I’ll give it until tomorrow and see how he’s doing.
I gave him different kind of canned food last night, it was a kind in gravy, maybe that was just too much for his tummy.
Steamed shrimp sounds good to me. I had chicken breast stuffed with cheese and broccoli for dinner.
I hope you feel better soon {{{Nettie}}}.
I once worked for a boss who thought getting sick was a character flaw. He never got sick, ever. He was a nice man, horrible boss, but a nice man. Most everybody didn’t like him, he made me so mad a few times I had to go to the ladies’ room to cry. But in a non-work situation he was pretty cool.
I’ve no experience with quail Nuts, but back when I had my horse we flushed pheasants a few times. One time I was out with a group of other riders and her horse flushed the pheasants; scared her so bad she almost fell off her horse. For whatever reason, it never seemed to spook the horses.
I don’t think you could keep a pheasant in the house though, their tails are too long.
alien, I’m not ready for Xmas music either and I actually like it. The day after Thanksgiving is soon enough, thank you.
Moooom, the lawn guys did the leaf blowing today. My building is on the tree end of the complex where residents walk their dogs a lot. I have several oak trees and a bunch of pines outside my door.
swampy and butters, I haven’t had quail for a few years now. My late sweetie used to hunt quail and pheasant, so I always had it a few times a year. I roasted the quail like I do game hens.
ruble and nettie, I hope you get rid of your crud soonest.
I made a trip to Tar-jay after irk today. I got two Xmas circulars in the mail this week with a coupon good for a $10 gift card with a $100 purchase, so I grocery shopped there and stocked up on laundry detergent, bleach, some toiletries and cleaning supplies. I’ll go again in a couple of weeks and stock up on paper goods, trash bags and a few other things. I don’t like their food selection as well as Kroger, but their non-edibles are priced right.
This Mennonite fellow is walking down the road with some chickens in a sack when he meets a fellow from his church. The friend asks “If I guess how many chickens you have can I have one of them?” The first Mennonite then says “Heck – if you can guess I’ll give you both of them!”
So the friend says “Are there three chickens in the sack?”
Dumb-assed Mennonites
Sorry – was listening to my Electric Amish CDs earlier.
Kinda sorta slept in till after 7. It doesn’t count, tho, because I woke at 2:30 and didn’t drop off again til after 4. **FCD **is in the shower and my turn is next. Then we’ll do breakfast.
He’s going to some kind of car thing today - timed trials or something. I’m having studio time - I promised a friend I’d make a candy dish, so I need to get on that. In fact, I’ll make several dishes, since it’s gift-giving season almost.
I had a lie-in this morning since the mogs did not disturb me too early to explain the concept of empty food bowls. I’m up, faffing about, and drinking tea before I head into town to get my hair cut later this afternoon.
Last night we booked flights for a trip next August, flying into Boston and out of Washington. Any suggestions for things to do and see on our travels? We might travel between the two cities by train, there might be car rental. Who knows?
