Fresh air and sunshine in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of ONLY 71 with rain this mornin’ and then mostly cloudy this afternoon. Perfect gloomy Good Friday weather. I was totally convinced I had a doc appointment this mornin’ until late yestiddy afternoon, when I got a reminder of my for real appointment next Tuesday. :smack: AFAIK that’s still on as it is a regularly scheduled three month appointment. We shall see. No biggie plans for today. We shall attend a virtual Good Friday service this evenin’. We are also orderin’ catfish filets and all the fixin’s from the local good seafood/fish place for sup. I foresee a goodly amount of Netflix for the day as well.

CupCakes appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed. Sounds like a good lead!

{{{Owl}}} glad you’re doin’ OK. Phoenix is a cutey! Love the gray beard. My mother had a cat with a black moustache. His name was Groucho. Groucho “adopted” mom and dad. He just showed up one day and decided that was his home. Smart cat cause my folks place was definitely an earthly version of Pet Heaven.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Firday Y’all! A blessed and holy Good Friday to those who observe.

A woman was interviewed on the news as she was leaving a church service. She wasn’t afraid because she was “… washed in Jesus’ blood…” or some such statement. She insisted she was still doing all normal things and no one was going to sop her. That’s the kind of mindset that’s going to drag this out. And if she doesn’t get sick, it’ll “prove” she was right, instead of just lucky. Idiots…

I had to get up sooner than I wanted to. I was reading in bed when I heard a door open and babbling in the hallway. No one else was up, so I closed my book and began my day. Roxy has had a bowl of cereal and a banana and now she’s watching My Little Pony (OMG - how do people watch that??) I’ve breakfasted, and I’m caffeinating. My only plan for today is doing a load of undies and socks. We’re not supposed to get out of the 50s, but I may venture out and pick up some sticks so we can mow the front lawn.

Daughter asked about a cake for Roxy’s b-day next week. The only cake I’ve ever made from scratch is pineapple upside-down, and that won approval. So that’s on the agenda for Weds. I need to make sure I have all the ingredients, but I’m sure I do.

Happy Firday, all!!

MMP = Monday Morning Post. It goes back almost 2 decades to when Rue DeDay used to start every Monday with a story or something. After he left the Dope, we continued his tradition, altho usually without a story. It’s our way of keeping MPSIMS tidier by concentrating minutae in this one thread every week.

Nice to see you, Miss Owl!! I was going to PM you, but I guess you disabled that option. You have a loverly roommate!

Daughter is awake, so I guess I can haul the laundry downstairs and get it started. I forgot I’d promised **FCD **to clean the shop. We kinda made a mess when building Roxy’s swingset and tower. With luck, it won’t take an hour…

becks, try 1/2 c. boiling water / 1 tsp. vinegar / food coloring ratio to dye aigs without buying the little tablets.

Welcome back OW! Like Mooooom, I tried to PM you, as I was wondering how you were. You chose a beautiful cat in Phoenix. I like the beard.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted, sheveled and fixing to finish a large project in the studio today. After that’s done, I’ll work up the scraps to go into the same project for next year.

On today’s task list is finishing up the mending, dusting and working on the MS course. Somewhere in between all of that, I’ll read a couple of more chapters on the book I’ve been reading and possibly peruse B&N or da Jungle for a couple of more.

A blessed Good Friday to all who observe.

I didn’t disable PMs on purpose. I’ll have to check my settings.

Thanks, everyone. I like this place so I want to try to be more active here, although I can’t promise daily weather or meal reports. But you never know …

My excitement for today is going to be talking to the police. It seems that a man was shot a couple of blocks away yesterday afternoon and he died. It just so happened that I heard the shot but it was so quick that I wasn’t sure it was a gunshot, I thought it might have been a vehicle door or some other city noise. I was expecting a Jungle delivery right around that time so I went to the front porch to look for it, just as a young man ran down the street. Some instinct told me to make mental note of his description and where he went (between two houses). Hours later, after it was dark, I heard voices outside and it was several police officers talking to my neighbor. He just got a fancy doorbell camera thing and was showing them something on his phone. When they were done, I asked the officers what was going on and they told me. I then told them about the man I saw and they’re coming back today to get a report and so I can show them where he went. This is not the kind of excitement I need in my life!

Aww, that’s beautiful.

John Prine, we miss you.

Chores for the day are almost done. I’ll be getting the laundry out of the dryer shortly. I’ve cleaned and swept FCD’s shop - just need SIL to take the clamps from the shop to the basement storage area. Once I fold the laundry and put it away, I can be a bum for the rest of the day. I have a book that needs reading!

Morning all. Went down to check on the lawnmower I have had in service, and they said that they called and left a message 9 days ago. Don’t recall getting a message and I’ve been home all but 1-2 hours most days, so I am skeptical, but the mower is fixed and ready to go. However, it’s 48F outside so I am not ready to go. Supposed to be in the high 60’s tomorrow, so that will M-day.

Note to self: Do not buy two big bags of Cheese Balls even if they are on sale–lasted about 6 days, I simply am not responsible for my actions re: cheese balls. Just had a bowl and it’s spoiled my lunch plans.

Cupcakes, best of luck with the interview.

Miss owl, least there wasn’t a shootout on your front lawn…interview should be nothing special (but I still wanna hear about it). And cute cat!

P.S.–I’ve seen you referred to as ow, Owl, and Miss Owl. Do you have a preference?

Hippy, be safe.

FCM, I guess if your 2 years old MLP is OK–and older than that…just never ever google “MLP rule 34” (Not that I would ever do such a thing…)

And those church folks mentioning how God will protect them, I am always reminded of the story of the preacher and the three boats (many versions).

Swampy, my Drs’ appointment is the same day, hopefully we both get good news.

nellie, sounds like a bit of mystery upstairs, hope it works out.

Too all my other fellow MMP’ers, assorted hugs, tears, grins, groans and laughter (always laughter). Take call all.

The detectives came back about half an hour ago and talked to me and the neighbor again. I gave them a good description last night but they wanted to come back in the daylight because they wanted to see where I was standing when I first saw him and where I was standing when I saw him go between two houses. One of the detectives walked down and the street and went where I said he went so that I could confirm the view. They didn’t say if the person I saw was even involved but the timing and his actions were more than a little suspicious.

And in reply to your P.S. – I have no real preference as to my MMP name but “She Who Must Be Obeyed” has a nice ring to it.

I went to the credit union to make a deposit. I’m broke, and had to. Their lobby is closed, so I used the drive-up window. There were three people ahead of me, and it took forever. Anyway, I got it done.

I refuelled the Jeep on the way home. Gas was $1.899/gallon. At the Shell station at my exit, it was a dollar more.

Another beautiful sunny morning in Portland. The tulips are exploding and I swear the peonies grew three inches yesterday.

Think I may start on cleaning out the garage today. It’s my workshop, so there is sawdust everywhere, which is, of course, a fire hazard. Le sigh, as the French say.

I thought of a positive for this shutdown: no school/mall/theater/event shootings. At least we don’t have to see that sort of misery playing out every week or so.

Howdy all. I went to irk to do payroll and pay a couple bills. I was there 4 and a half hours. Came back by the store for salad fixings. Still no TP or PT. Crazy.

I came home and made and et the salad and tried for a nap which was rudely interrupted by hubs on his phone. So I am awake. I have more laundry to do. I did a ton yesterday. I had plans to cook up a huge meal but that’s not going to happen. We have a big bowl of sketties leftover from yesterday so leftovers it is today and big meal tomorrow.

And it’s finally the weekend not that that makes much of a difference these days.

We had some homemade masks sent to us from hubs daughter and they are so much more comfy than that N95. At the grocery everyone was wearing a face covering of some sort. They had only one entrance and a couple clerks handing out disinfectant and towels. I managed mostly to stay away several feet from anyone. It is now mandatory to wear a mask now at stores and anywhere more than ten people congregate. The store also has occupancy limits. We only have 52 cases of the virus in this county which is too many but in a county 155 miles long it’s not terrible.

Happy weekend everyone. Stay safe.

I was at a local grocery for a job interview and noticed a sharp uptick in how many folks are wearing masks. It was about two to one, masked to bareface.

**FCD **wanted an omelette for supper, so I made him a big one, with turkey bacon and rye toast. I had some leftover chicken, some cuke salad, and a couple of pretzel logs. Yeah, I know, weird meal. I’ll have an apple-n-gravy later. (In-joke - I drizzle peanut butter over the apple slices and **FCD **said it looked like gravy.)

I finished reading one book and I’ve started the next one in the series. They’re not very good but it passes the time. They’re Shelley Freydont’s Sudoku mysteries. I have to wonder who edited them for her. They don’t strike me as something a professional would write, but what do I know?

Happy Firday!

It has been a freeze warning issued, cold, windy, bright, cloudy, snowy, rainy, sunshiney, clear day.

I apologize for this.
Yesterday, I stupidly, although without malice, washed my coat, hats, and gloves, with the intent to pack them up for the season. I should have known better. I had already done the hats and gloves twice, and had to pull them back out. Washing the coat was a bit too optomistic, I crossed the line, and Mother Nature had to smack me back into reality.
I’m sorry that my reality check spilled over into the lives of others.

The dogs are making me crazy. They want out, then in, then out, then in. Echo is enjoying the weather, Ripple not so much.
If she goes out he has to go out with her because he might miss something.
If he comes in, she has to come in with him, because… treats.
When they are in, they thunder up the stairs, they thunder down the stairs, they run the circle through the living room and kitchen, and thunder upstairs to bounce on the bed, and back downstairs to circle some more, all the while squeaking their squeaky toys or crunching water bottles.
I should sit outside with them, but I’m not in the mood for the cold and wind. I have a sore throat, a cough, a runny nose, and I’m sneezing.
I’m sure it’s just a cold.
I hope Lily comes for a playdate tomorrow, although maybe she shouldn’t come.
I’ll see how I feel in the morning.

Ripple needs the exercise. He started getting a little chunky while Echo was in heat. If we have to stay in too much longer he is going to cross over from chunk to fat.
Echo has put on a bit of weight as well, but she needed to.

Cute kitty OW, good to see you back.
Have you talked with Spidey?

When I was last at the grocery store, only three people had on masks, an elderly woman and her nurse?, and a very young, fit, healthy looking guy.
However, when Lily’s mom went to walmart, she said everybody had a mask but her.

I hope you get the job CupCakes.

Irk has picked up, I may actually earn a normal paycheck this week.

Butters, I’m waiting on some masks I ordered via Amazon, once they are here I’ll start masking when I go out.

Sari, that’s OK, avoided having to mow the yard thanks to the weather. Will have to get it tomorrow, though, rain is forecast for all day Sunday.

Did a TP count and somewhat to my surprise, I have over 70 rolls of the stuff, which will last me to the 4th of July 2021, so if any MMP’er is at “I’m desperate, using corncobs” state, let me know. That and the 15 cases of Pepsi 12-packs (not counting the 4 in the fridge) are my only ‘hoardings’ (and the TP was on-hand before this started; only bought 1 12-pack in the last 2 months).

Grocery store masks were running about 1/3 last time I was out, but there were none being used at the lawnmower/tractor place (since they are manly men, I suppose…).

Had a 70’s rock band dinner (it was a 3 Dog Night) and am now settling in for an evening of internettin’. All y’all take care now.

Wow OW! I hope that you don’t have that kind of excitement again.

I need to cover some of my plants tonight, as there are frost warnings. The other day, the AC was on because it was 85F. The heat went back on yesterday.

As far as masks go, I wear one whenever go out involving getting in the car. This evening, I did a drive thru with the Captain wearing the Wonder Woman one.

The mending is finished and I’m working on the cover of the project now. It would have been finished, but I miscalculated the size of the frame, so I’ll have to recut them.

Stay healthy y’all!

If we can pick names, then I get to be H. Rider Haggard!

DIL says everyone was wearing masks at Walmart today. She saw a whole family, Mom, Dad, 2 walking kids all in masks. They had a baby in the cart seat w/o a mask. Seems odd.

She did buy the regular food coloring for Easter eggs. I always have vinegar. So the kiddies will get to color eggs.
She got a bit of candy for them. I don’t really approve of the holiday candy thing. But I don’t want them to have to do w/o because of me.
I think we have everything for Easter dinner.

Happy Easter weekend everyone.

Felt odd to walk into a gas station mini-mart (I was craving a F’real shake) wearing a mask, especially since I’ve been a convenience store cashier. No one seemed startled. No roller grill items, but I’ll live without those pork egg rolls for the duration.

WAY too many calls today. I don’t think the queue ever got below 300 waiting in my primary. I took nearly 120. Most of them were at least semi-intelligent and civil, so I’ve had worse caller days. The stupid was INTENSE on the drive home. Come on, people, it’s really OK for the ambient level of traffic idiocy to drop when there are a few less cars out there (not as much of a reduction as I’d have expected).
