Jersey, Mormons believe in Jesus Christ, as the son of God and the Messiah.
Therefore, they ARE Christians. As are Catholics.
And weren’t you told to stop acting so SHOCKED when people get angry when you say things like this?

Gosh, if movies and TV mock a religion, I guess it’s our duty to follow!
Jersey, Mormons are Christians, ok? And there’s nothing “questionable” about the Catholic Church. You don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about so why don’t you keep your fucking hate speech off the board.
Oh, and please don’t worry about my “soul.” It’s just fucking dandy. I don’t need to wallow in “rapture” fantasies to feel good about myself.
I don’t act shocked. Unlike many people here, I don’t get insulted or offened or shocked at any little thing that is suppose to hurt my feelings. Everyone here is so sensitive and needy for the support and comfort of each other. “Whoa is me all the time.” Good God.
Guin, you can call a pair of socks your friend for all I care. That doesn’t make it your friend, but if that’s what make you happy, keep on truckin.
Ben, I don’t mock anthing about the LDS. It’s not a religion to me. It’s a very unfunny joke.
oww, I’m scared of you diogones. If you don’t like my alledged hate speech, don’t read it. I said it before, it is an option.
Get a life. You have way to many post and are on way too much.
Don’t worry, I am not worried about your soul at all.
As are you, Jersey.
JD,
So is yours.
That posting of yours is a load of horse manure, Jersey. What’re you up to…taking up the slack Joe left?
Unlike you, him, and H4E, I actually provide proof of my assertions! And I manage to do so without resorting to those bigoted hate sites y’all seem to love so much.
As long as you are posting on the same board, telling anyone else to get a life is purest hypocrisy.
And they’re bigoted hate sites because you say so? You can’t stand them because they point out the discrepancies between the doctrines of the Mormon church and true Christianity. Calling them hate sites doesn’t make it so. Why don’t you take the time to listen and check the comparison between Mormon teachings and biblical teachings? You can dish out all the nasty comments to fundamentalist Christians but you can’t take it when your religion is questioned? Give me a break.
P.S. Why should I always believe the “proof of your assertions?” No one is ever willing to listen to me, even if I quote right from the Bible, I’m still lying.
Oh shove your martyr act, His! I am TIRED of your crap.
You pull the same shit about Catholicism, despite being given PRIMARY SOURCES and you still refuse to listen.
Boohoo, no one likes me, boohoo, you won’t listen to me, blah blah blah…fishcakes.
Cut the self-pity, His. Nobody here has ever called you a liar for quoting from the Bible. People have called you a liar because you tend to twist the meaning to suit your own extremely narrow interpretation, even when the original Greek and Hebrew meanings that contradict yours are pointed out to you.
If the two of you, Monty and His, could depersonalize the argument and discuss soberly the differences between mainstream and LDS beliefs, basing your points on the Bible and the Book of Mormon, I’d be very interested in participating.
His, try to find sources that contrast LDS and mainstrema teachings in a methodical dipassionate manner. Avoid the “I escaped Mormonism” fist-person bios because they are tainted with a subjective viewpoint. Objectivity is key. If you can crush Monty with the weight of Biblical truth, go to it.
And yet, you support your lies by pointing to the fact that movies and TV mock the LDS church.
Anyway, your “religion” isn’t a religion to me. It’s a disgusting, demonolatrous brainwashing cult.
That, from someone who has 5.5 posts per day
There is a difference in posting on a board and living on a board. Right Guin?!
see, got to go to my life now.
I’d rather stay on the boards 24/7/365 than live your hateful and narrow-minded life, Jersey.
Is that the best you can do, Jersey, accuse people of being on line too much? That’s pretty lame, dude.
I work on the week-ends and I’m a stay-at-home dad during the week. I have a lot of free time and daytime tv bores me so I hang out here. I like to talk to other intelligent people. Does that make me a loser? What else should I be doing? I don’t drink or do drugs anymore so this is my vice. Big fucking deal. Don’t you have anything better to do than count other people’s post counts?
I don’t even know why I’m responding to this bullshit. You were getting your ass kicked in a thread so you resorted to ad-hominem non-sequitors in lieu of an argument about the topic. I’ll take that as a surrender.
Here are some statements from Mormon documents by Mormons. Can they be explained away? If you must know where I got them, they’re taken from the book I have that everyone here made fun of awhile ago. Are these statements not in the Mormon documents and made by Mormons, some of whom started Mormonism?
Remember that God our Heavenly Father, was perhaps once a child, and mortal like we ourselves and rose step by step in the scale of progress, in the school of advancement; has moved forward and overcome, until He has arrived at the point where He now is. (Orson Hyde, Jounral of Discourses, vol. 1, p. 123)
If we ask who will stand at the head of the resurrection in this last dispensation, the answer is - Joseph Smith, Jr. the prophet of God…No man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the Celestial Kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith. (Oh really? Where’s that in the Bible?) From the day that the priesthood was taken from the earth to the winding-up scene of all things every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, Jr., as a passport into the mansions where God and Christ are - I with you and you with me. I cannot go there without his consent. He holds the keys of that kingdom for the last dispensation - the keys to rule in the spirit world: as supreme a being in his sphere, capacity and calling as God does in heaven (N.B. Lundwall, “The Vision,” pp. 59-60 [quoting Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 7, p. 289]
God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man (no, don’t think so!), and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6)
In the beginning, the head of the Gods called a council of the Gods; and they came together and concocted (prepared) a plan to create the world and people it. (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6)
…It is necessary we should understand the character and being of God and how He came to be so; for I am going to tell you how God came to be God. (Oh really?) We have imagned and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that ideas, and take away the veil, so that you may see. (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 6)
These statements are just a few of the many made by the founders of Mormonism. In my view, they can’t be reconciled with the teachings of the Bible.

His4Ever, Jersey Diamond, in Christ’s name, I beg you to stop and think for a moment. You consider your faith absolutely vital to the salvation of your souls, as I understand things, that those who don’t share our faith are doomed to an eternity of suffering and you genuinely want to spare people that. I understand, and I am on your side, believe it or not. That said, please, look at your actions here and in other threads. I know that it isn’t always easy, but please try to think how it would appear to a non-Christian or how you would feel if such things were said about your form of Christianity. Would you want to agree with a person who acted in such a way or who said such things?
You both speak of Truth and not sparing people. Look, I know I’m just a “liberal Christian who just wants people to like her” in your eyes, and therefore not worth listening to, but I am compelled by the same Lord who commands you to give it my best, doomed shot. Prodding Monty or Guinastasia or Diogenes with a stick won’t make them want to put down their swords and join your side; it will just reinforce the notion that people like you aren’t nice people to be around and make them want to take up sticks of their own to use against you. Hell, from what I’ve seen of you, I don’t want to join your form of Christianity either, and I am glad my faith is secure. People who act the way you have acted on this message board are the reason I’ve seen people get nervous when they find out I’m a Christian. I’m not trying to bash you, although I know it must seem that way. I’m asking you to please consider the way you present our shared faith and the effect it has on people.
Consider James 1:18-21:
also, James 1:26:27
I am sincerely sorry if my words have hurt or wounded you, but I do treasure our faith above all else. James said elsewhere, “Faith without works is dead”; I sincerely believe that I without faith am dead. That is why I don’t like to see you driving people away from the most precious gift I believe humanity has been given, especially since I’m fairly sure that’s not your intent. If I am wrong, I will sit corrected.
It’s more a wish than a likelihood, but may peace be upon all who’ve posted here.
