I’m a funeral director and since you mentioned you worked at a funeral home for years, I wonder if you got so burned out by it that you lost all compassion for others. I think this comment was a bit snarky and unnecessary.
For me I too have seen people dress inappropriately for a funeral service, and while I didn’t care and the family did not make a comment about it, it is still disrespectful.
Yeah it doesn’t really matter to God or whatever, for example, what you are wearing when you are praying and worshiping, just as it doesn’t matter to the decedent. But purely out of respect for the situation, and for other mourners, wouldn’t a little courtesy be in order? I think it should.
