Game of Thrones 4.05 "The First Of His Name" 5/4/14 NO SPOILERS

And don’t forget that he’s allied with the Tyrells, who run Dorne and are expected to have a royal heir. So he has a lot of friends in high places now. How he plays it from here is anybody’s guess.

Littlefinger comes from a tiny part of The Vale and he’s now in charge of the whole area. The benefits are obvious. I mean, technically Robin is in charge and either Littlefinger or Lysa are the regents until he comes of age, but does anyone think Littlefinger sees that as a major problem?

Gendry is like Pod’s handsome slightly older brother.

Something to remember–Gendry and Arya weren’t just buddies, it was clearly young romance territory.

Thanks, all, for the recaps. I swear I’ve seen every episode; I should have taken better notes.

Now I’m just hanging around, waiting for the weekly link to Game of Thrones On Facebook.

Didn’t Littlefinger come from Riverrun?
Also, with all this talk, what are the seven Kingdoms? The Vale is one and I’m assuming Dorne and Winterfell are two more.

I feel like all of the Arya’s Lists should be updated to include:

Tywin Lannister – Was suprisingly decent to Arya, though we think he had no idea who she was

Also, Gendry… forgot all about him. He’s still out there, isn’t he? Onion stuck him on a boat. Interesting little loose end that’s still flopping about.

Really? I didn’t see it that way, at least not from his side. I got more little sister feelings off him but maybe I am misremembering.

There are actually more than 7 – the Riverlands were part of the Greyjoy territory before the Targaryens. And the Crownlands were created by the Targaryens.

  1. The North (Stark)
  2. The Iron Islands (Greyjoy)
  3. The Vale (Arryn)
  4. The Riverlands (Tully)
  5. The Crownlands
  6. The Westerlands (Lannister)
  7. The Reach (Tyrell)
  8. Dorne (Martell)
  9. The Stormlands (Baratheon)

The Riverlands is not a Kingdom.

“You would be my lady.” - Season 3 epi 5.

…except to dragons.

I don’t see any reason why dragons wouldn’t be able to roast the inhabitants of the Eyrie at least as easily as they did at Harrenhal. Harrenhal was, from what Tywin told Arya, the strongest and most massive castle ever built.

The riverlands are a kingdom, the iron islands and the crownlads aren’t.

Ah, sad to hear he’s ill, but that same Wikipedia page said he had surgery (less than a week ago) and doctors were hopeful for a good result. And he’s outlived his original prognosis, so maybe he’ll live to scowl again on Sunday nights.

D’oh. I confused Martell and Tyrell here. The Tyrells rule The Reach.

Sunuva–

Arya says that they would “be family” and he rebukes her with “We wouldn’t be family. You would be my lady.” meaning he’d always be below her.
But Gendry always read as a little sad in that scene and I always took it as not a brush off of her, but showing how practical he is. It wouldn’t work between them because of status–not because he wasn’t interested.

It’s moot because none of them are kingdoms any more. “The Seven Kingdoms” is a term referring to all nine regions together.

There was no pre-Targaryen king of the Riverlands (its king was the King of the Iron Islands) but under the Targaryens, the Riverlands and its Tully lord were of equal status with the other seven lords.

But it is my understanding (i have never read the books) that the producers have already replaced him… i.e. the whole Bronn teaching Jamie to fight left handed. I get the impression is will not be seen anymore.

Where is all this information about the kingdoms coming from? I don’t believe the show has ever said what the 7 kingdoms are.

Huh?

Syrio died “off screen.” Do we know if he is really dead? I remember thinking at the time he might turn up again.

Speaking of lists. How many of the Dire Wolves are left? Just Ghost, Summer (Bran’s) and Arya’s (who is MIA)?
