I think the Sansa/Ramsy match makes sense for both Roose and Little Finger. Roose probably knows that Stanis is at the wall Getting the cooperation of the former Stark vassals is the current priority. Sansa was never formally accused of killing Joffrey.
They made sure to let us know the Little Finger was unaware of what king of man Ramsey is.
I definitely think Theon is going to have something to do with getting revenge, but I’m also afraid it will also end up badly for him and maybe for Sansa.
Yeah, he ended up dead. Jaqen also said something about how there is only one god and Arya knows his name, so I’m guessing that one god that they worship is named Death.
Did that Night’s Watch guy have something to do with Ned’s execution? There are so many characters to keep track of, I don’t remember his connection to that.
Why would anyone intervene? People might notice and think it’s strange, but then get back to their drinking and carousing.
I was wondering what situations similar to this there have been in actual history. It seems wildly optimistic on Roose’s part, that the marriage will smooth things over and everyone will accept the Bolton’s claim on the North.
Ned asked Littlefinger to make sure the watch supported them when he went to confront the queen, they attacked his men instead. It was really Littlefinger who had the most to do with it, but Janos was behind the children slaughter ordered by Joffrey so he isn’t exactly a nice guy either way.
Me, too. Best line: “You’re as honorable and stubborn as your father… [and] that wasn’t a compliment.” I was a little surprised to see Jon make the boy his steward; I wouldn’t think he’d want a daily reminder of Ygritte’s death.
Heh. Or maybe he just finds a side door to leave without drawing too much attention.
Hmm. Or maybe he knows that Ramsay will never live to marry and/or harm Sansa. I think Littlefinger does have the hots for Sansa and would not willingly let another man have her.
I do not know what Little Finger’s goals are at this point. A marriage between him and Sansa would have given him the North and all he needed to get rid of the Boltons.
Little Finger giving Sansa to the Boltons reminded me of Dr. Banner’s quote about Loki, “That guy’s brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him”.
Oh, no, read between the lines. Baelish was very clear when he said “She’s had enough harm come to her.” Ramsey looked at him and earnestly said that he would never hurt her. Baelish replied by A) casually mentioning that he knows everything about everyone and then B) saying that he knows nothing of Ramsey. The latter is an obvious lie designed to tell Ramsey “I know who and what you are. Leave her be.”
Roose and Baelsih know full well that the other plans to betray them. It’s just a rac to see who can pull it off and come out on top.
Baelish’s marriage to Lysa is what gives him hold over the Vale. Remarrying loosens that hold. Besides, Sansa was presented to the Vale as his family.
Margaery IS the queen, and has the king wrapped around her finger. If she gets rid of Cersei, then Tommen names her to small council. Her father is already on it. Ditch Qyburn, pay off Pycell, and name a toady as Hand (Any of her father’s bannermen will do), and she’s got total control.
In this case it makes sense - recall how big and impressive Volantis looked? A city that size has to have at least one brothel, you’d think (and probably a lot more).
Seriously. The rest of the North hates the Boltons. Marry Sansa, reveal to more than just the Lords that Alayne is Sansa Stark and claim both the Vale and the North. Seems like a much better plan than giving Sansa to the Boltons.
Anyone else hear that old woman’s “The North Remembers” as a warning? Aka, don’t you dare marry into the family that screwed over the King in the North?
Exactly. Slavery seems to be ubiquitous in Volantis. The sight of a person in bondage is unremarkable. And even if someone did think something suspicious was going down, who is going to stick their neck out to help some haggard looking foreign dwarf?
Seeing as feminism and OKCupid haven’t been invented in Westoros yet, your only options for getting laid are marriage or prostitution. Most people marry for political reasons not romantic ones, so the prostitutes end up doing a thriving business.
I would think he WOULD want a daily reminder. Even if he doesn’t know she personally killed he boy’s father and the boy avenged that death (something that Jon believes he is not able to do for his own family’s murder), the boy simultaneously reminds him of what they are protecting at the wall and the sacrifices of that duty. In the season opener we saw Jon training the boy and being stern but also clearly working out some anger at him and having to keep himself in check.
I didn’t get that at all. I think they’d understand she doesn’t have much choice. I took it as a sign that Sansa would be in a position of authority in the North regardless. I imagine it like the Boltons make a declaration, everyone turns to Sansa to see whether or not they follow it.
Considering the elaborately treacherous games that Ramsay Bolton has played with Theon, I’m unconvinced that anybody who says “The North remembers” is on the up and up.
Sansa is still an amateur at this castle intrigue stuff, and is unlikely to be very discriminating about who she trusts.
That’s possible, but keep in mind that the Boltons are not a particularly great House, at least, not until recently. They probably did not travel to Winterfell with a large retinue of household staff. Mostly they just brought soldiers and then hired on the locals to work at Winterfell, same as the Starks did. If any survived the burning of Witnerfell, then those same people probably serve there now, and hold a great deal of resentment towards the Boltons, especially Ramsey, who they have come to know all too well. Certainly Ramsey could plant someone in Sansa’s staff to watch her, but I think that woman was genuine.
