Gotti, hope DH’s stay in the horsepickle isn’t too bad, they are not the greatest place to spend time. When my doting parent was hospitalised for a month, she was lucky enough to spend two weeks in the big horsepickle which as a fabulous tea place on the ground floor. I visited every other day for two weeks, first stop was always said tea place to collect two very large cups of English Breakfast tea for us.
Today has been a better day for commuting, the mainline service to London was delayed by 20mins so it was still 5mins outside the station when I arrived. And the first class lounge had tea bags today! Thus my day started with a cup of tea at the station, and a cup of tea on the train. Happy commute today
It’s still quite mild out there but the forecast today is for a swift dip in temperatures (from about 10 degrees down to 3 or 4) and now they are saying we might have a dusting of snow by morning. Bah! Do not want! On the plus side I don’t have much going on this weekend, doting parent is out on Sunday with her walking group so I have a day at home. That means a bonus gym visit for me this weekend, might even sign up for one of their classes for a change 'cos I don’t often get the chance to do those. Hmmm…must find password for gym website so I can see what’s on offer then.
Tomorrow night I am home alone and unsupervised so I shall probably spend my evening wrapping hexmas presents as I’ve got most of the ones I needed. Also have some buffday pressies for a friend that need to be wrapped so I could get on with that too. And stick the obligatory bit of Sellotape to the cat’s head, just for a laugh.
Yesterday after choir, it was so late at night that we just did Mickey D’s on the way home, sticking to the dollar menu. Didn’t even buy drinks; just borrowed a can of Pepsi and one of Orange Crush from the church. I got two McChickens, no lettuce, add cheese; ekemom got a Filet-o-Fish sandwich and small fries, which she shared with me.
Talked with eke-sorta-gf (who’s a recent addition to the choir); confirmed our Karaoke sorta-date. (Could also be simply hanging out). The Sunday after Thanksgiving. At least part of my mind thinks it’s a date, 'cuz I’m getting the “date jitters” about it.
Went to bed about 11; woke up about 4. Played the Ohio State game. ekemom just now woke up, wondering what the hell I’m doing awake; she tells me she’s concerned about my sleeping habits.
Today we go to the doctor’s office to get me a blood test, apparently to see whether I’m a changeling or not. Actually, it’s a liver enzyme test, as the medication I’m on has the potential to cause liver damage. There’s never been any evidence of it before; just high cholesterol. (Which I’m now on medication for).
We’ve been working on the house this week. Tore up the carpets, sanded down and sealed the original wood flooring. Next week we’re painting the walls their final colors.
This is going to be the first time all of my things are in one place, unpacked, in 6 years. I don’t have much; it’s a strange feeling hanging up paintings that have been in storage for so long.
We have more room in this house than we know what to do with - I hope it doesn’t lead to knick-knack collecting…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 51 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 73 for the day and sunny. Temps are goin’ back to normal range for this time of year. Yay!
luci you say you have extra space? It is to laugh! In a couple years stuff will accumulate. No one knows exactly where stuff comes from but it will fill up empty spaces.
OK, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. At least 'tis Firday.
I have about a 16 mile commute, 90% of which is on expressways, 7 miles of that is on an interstate. From listening to the traffic reports over the years, I know that Friday is usually the worst day for the ride home; however, yesterday, when it was raining the LED message board said 7 miles in 38 minutes. That’s 11 miles an hour!
The first 7 miles of expressway were at normal speed but at that rate, if I could take my bike on the expressways it would be about the same time whether I biked or drove. Hmmm, save gas & get a workout in all for maybe 5 extra minutes. Unfortunately I’m not gonna try it out.
We’ll see what the sign says tonite, but I’m already pretty sure I’m taking an alternate route home. Anyone wanna bet on the time listed?
First weekend in two months that I do not have a soccer game to referee. Need to do some house cleaning and washing over the weekend, so I’d almost rather be out chasing 10 year olds…
It’s sunny and supposed to get up to 51 today. Maybe some yard work on the agenda, don’t know yet.
Getting a new furnace, it’ll be installed Wednesday. The cost is not as good as I hoped but better than I expected. The financing went through, I was approved for more than I needed which was a surprise to me. Anyway, both furnace guys told me the amount I’ll save on the gas bill will more than compensate for the cost of the furnace. We’ll see.
My paycheck is screwed up today. I earned two bonuses last week and I only got paid for one. Probably just an oversight on their end and they’ll put it in new weeks pay.
Thanks y’all for the congrats to Sah-son. I pass them on to him because he needs to hear it. I remember his struggles with dyslexia and how frustrated he used to get. He thought he was stupid because the other kids could read and he couldn’t.
Up, caffeinated, off today. Today’s adgenda: cleaning ,dog walking, hockey.
Last time I moved, I threw away 2 dumpsters full of stuff.:dubious: Now every so often, I go through the cracks and creavaces of the apartment, and throw away anything that hasn’t been used in the last 6 months(Gordie’s brain is an exception)
The store in da Hood is 15 miles away by the Beltline, right in the middle that they are reconstruction. Since they are widening it, they make an extra lane of bumpy crappy pavement, then narrow it down to 2 11 foot lanes. Any wreck, and it’s a 10 mile backup. Once I saw a firetruck go down the offramp the wrong way, just because it was the only way to get to the crash.
Whew - what a morning!! Higgs escaped her crate because someone didn’t lock the door last night, so she was standing on me way too early. I let her out, then we went back to bed. **FCD **got up with her at 5:30 and fed her, then we just lounged around for a while till we decided we needed breakfast.
We showered, went to Leonardtown for food, then to Food Lion for more food, and home to start the laundry. I helped **FCD **get the heavy part of the bandsaw out of the truck and down to the basement - he’s got it set up and ready to be hooked up. For the moment, he’s taking a break. I’ve got the second load of jeans in the washer and I tidied the kitchen. There’s a hunk of poke in the slow cooker with some Sonny’s sweet BBQ sauce - we’ll have pulled poke for supper.
It’s sunny and gorgeous and a little breezy. I’m hoping it’ll dry out the leaves after yesterday’s rain so I can run the sucker tomorrow. We shall see. Today is all about laundry. rah.
gotti, when I’ve been in the hospital, I found that grown up coloring books were a good diversion.
metal mouse, NDT used some of the same material in last evening’s show. He makes learning so much fun! The performance wasn’t over until a little after 11. I knew it would be late going in, so I had requested today off.
doggio, I may have to send that video to Safety Dean.
It’s been a lazy Saturday on a Friday so far today. I’m going to shower and dress shortly then go to the photography shop to see about getting prints from some vintage negatives that I inherited.
Happy Friday! Well, actually Thursday for me since I work tomorrow but ------------ in deference to the rest of you I’ll join in. Coldish but sunny so I’m thinking bike. Visited the Humble Barber for a beard trim so I need to blow the nubbins off.
:dubious: Is it just me, or is there something a bit weird about the Weather Channel running a documentary on the Donner Party on Thanksgiving weekend?
