What about all the drunks in the streets of Vancouver as Gretzky got into that truck?
At first I was all, “He should run the whole way!”, of course I didn’t know how far it was. But all the drunken hammerheads in the streets were a riot. Even the pouring rain didn’t deter them. We were killing ourselves laughing at my house, falling off the furniture and looking to see if we knew anyone!
I gotta say, a lot more fun than seeing people held back behind barriers.
Yeah, I loved k.d’s singing; I was not as impressed by the anthem singing. For an example of a non-traditional version of an anthem that makes the hairs on my arms stand up, I give you Marvin Gaye singing the US national anthem. If you want to go non-traditional, it has to be THAT good.
The opening snowboarder was either Shin Campos, Kevin Sansalone or Johnny Lyall. All three are credited and I imagine it’s a stunt that would require backups. The aerialist was probably Thomas Saulgrain, since it looked like a guy to me, but Alexandra Royer is also credited.
I don’t know anything about any of these people, but they did a pretty nifty job.
I thought that too, but then realized it worked out better to have the English speaker as the final intro to whomever. For building audience anticipation and applause.
I love colourful outfits, as much as the next person, and there were some awesome hats on display, very enjoyable. I especially enjoyed those who were in their traditional garb, or incorporated some of same into their outfits, very nice.
And, of course, some of the uniforms were less than eye pleasing, in my humble opinion. Developing nation, not much money, I’ll not comment if your outfits looks less than delightful.
But seriously, if you’re France or Italy shouldn’t your outfits have a little more style?
And the American’s looked like they were wearing their long underwear and some truly heinous fitting jackets. Didn’t even incorporate your national colours. What was up with that? Y’all have lots of money, I’m almost certain those things had designer labels.
Not your best showing, fashion wise, is all I’m saying.
It’s a personal preference thing on how the song should be sung. It builds and falls in a crescendo of musical waves and I just think she topped the waves a little too high in spots. There is no denying she has a good voice. I think Jeff Buckley’s rendition is closer to how she should have sung it and given her voice it would have been stellar.
It’s all a matter of taste. When I think of interpretation I always think of Jimi Hendrix. He never had a great sounding voice but his timing and musical interpretations were spot on.
