Takin’ a clay break. I built a mouse, a bunny with a bead necklace, a cat, and a flower pot. I threw a flower pot and another curvy pot. I rolled out and cut a bunch of medallions (bats, pumpkins, hearts, stars, and flowers.) And I tidied the studio, but it’s a wreck again.
After we have some sketties, I’m going to decorate my last monster and put some clear glaze on the pieces that have been underglazed already. Then tomorrow I can finish the medallions, trim the 2 pieces I threw today, and underglaze the bunny and the mouse and the cat. It’s looking good for a Monday night firing.
House is still open and it’s lovely. I’m hoping we can sleep with lots of fresh air tonight.
ALL my weekend stuff in one day! Wife has decreed that with my tomorrow free that I may accompany her whilst she shops.
I’m about to wrap some salmon steaks in a bit of foil with butter & appropriate seasoning (whatever I find), do the same with some 'sparagus and olive oil/lemon and toss it all on the grill for dinner.
Bolding mine. That sounds like a special Hallowe’en edition of Lucky Charms[sup]TM[/sup].
So, supper tonight was gonna be hot dogs. It has turned into homemade beef veggie soup. This came about cause I was rootin’ in a freezer and noticed a bunch of frozen veggies. Hmmmm… thought I… soup! So I went to the store and bought some ground beast, came home and made soup! Cornbread is bakin’ as I type and soon there shall be soup and cornbread for supper! YUMMMMMMM!!!
Yay for gettin’ all your chores done MBG! Enjoy the shoppin’!
Howdy all; I’ve been enjoying just veggie so far this weekend. Hugs and prayers going out to all in need.
Hey, who caused the German language ad at the bottom of the page?! laughs I have no idea what it’s for, cause I don’t understand German, but it’s all in German!
So Monday is Labor Day, at least in the US. Is it celebrated in other countries around the world? I seem to recall somewhere celebrating a Labor Day in May…? Who else will be on holiday this Monday? It’s also my son’s 20th birthday! This is the one who is down in Little Rock, Arkansas at Philander Smith College.
Urp! Excuse me. The beef veggie soup and corn bread was indeed good! Ol’ y’all know who chowed down on two big bowls and two pieces of corn bread. If he doesn’t explode, I shall expect much “appreciation” later.
I have no idea why the ads are in German, but at least only one of mine is. Whew. I’d hate to think us Amurricans have lost the linguistic battle.
I harassed Papa Tigs into getting new toilet seats to replace the ones currently in place. The one in the master bath cracked a couple weeks ago, and so he fixed it with duct tape. Which, while I appreciate it no longer pinching my nether regions, isn’t exactly attractive. And the one in the other bathroom is wood-colored wood and was, to not put too fine a point on it, just nasty and stained. Too many guys with poor aim, I fear.
But anyway, so he gets two new toilet seats. Fights to take off the wood-colored wood seat for like 30 minutes, cussing up a storm. Gets it off, opens the new one, and starts to install it…only to discover that one of the hinges was snapped clear off. So he’s off replacing the brand-new toilet seat. Honestly, is there no decent workmanship anywhere any more?
We’ve had the house open all day, and it’s just lovely. The humidity is low enough that even though it got a bit warm, it still feels just heavenly. And it’s starting to cool off now; it’s supposed to get down to 65° tonight! Yay for cool sleeping weather!
You know what the best [art of salmon is? Of course you do, it’s when you grill it in a pouch with a bunch of butter and the skin gets all nice and crispy?
Seriously, there was some appreciable scenery – especially the guy who is the head of one of the hotshot teams who talked to us. Of course, he’s 40 (not a problem), married (a problem), and has kids who he carries around pictures of all the time (awwwwwwww). He’s also really, really hawt, though, so I seriously enjoyed the view. I hate the “deliberately scruffy” look, but by Og, this guy was genuinely scruffy. Yum. I wish I’d had my camera.
Oh, and the rest of it was interesting; they are headquartered in one of the local ski lodges, and it’s seriously nice in there. The consensus is it’s by far the nicest headquarters anybody there had ever been in, and probably will ever be again; they’re usually in tents!
Tomorrow I will be spending the entire day at home 'cos it’s our local marathon race and that means both ends of the street where I live will be blocked off until the race is over. What fun!
Dotty - will be sending positive thoughts to you and yours.
I really should get busy with my idea for a line of designer colored duct tape. Imagine bein’ able to duct tape anything back together with the latest hawt fashionable colors! I’d make bazillions!
None of the ads I see are in German. Unless maybe I understand 'em cause all of a sudden I know German?
The third (and last for this show) monster has been underglazed. I was going to apply clear glaze all around, but I’m just too tired, so I came upstairs for ice cream instead. All in all, a good plan.
swampy, you’ve just got food on the brain - Lucky Charms indeed… But your veggie soup sounded good - methinks I’ll make some tomorrow. I’ve also got the makin’s for a chocolate cake with fudge frosting. See, Weds, our baby turns 22, so in her honor, we have to have cake, right?
It’s cooling down wunnerfully - I foresee good sleeping tonight.
Has ‘im indoors given you any reason why he has a hankerin’ to move to Hungary? Is he hungry for goulash? Pinin’ for Budapest? Desirin’ a home with a view of the Danube River? Yep, strange and unusual this is.
Does he like chicken paprikash? Is Hungary nice this time of year?
Let 'im go and tell 'im you’ll meet 'im there in a few weeks…
I’m back from work–very nice day today. No pts at all! I got paid a very nice sum to call folks and tell them what time to come in for surgery on Tuesday, and to put ID stickers on charts.
I LOVE this job. Mundane, quasi-challenging at times, no holidays and pays well.
It’s a keeper (until I get my librarian job).
Don’t have Internet at my new place yet. I moved house on Thursday, and it’s been chaos. Scottish Darling is staying with me but she’s come down with the flu, and I have no idea when Cloud Maiden is moving in from New York. The new apartment is lovely but old and has many random problems that are slowly being dealt with.
I had such a terrible time packing, by the way - I flew in on Tuesday from Toronto, then on Wednesday a friend called and we had some drinks in the afternoon. I fully planned to go back home early and resume packing, but then I ran into That Guy and Minister’s Lad and a bunch of their co-workers at the bar and ended up not getting home til 2am. And That Guy . . . ARGH. He stirred up the anthill again, so to speak (although nothing actually happened that night) and it’s been rather distracting - Scottish Darling has commented on my absent-mindedness these past few days, but if I told her I’ve been thinking about That Guy she would not be happy at all. Blech.
Anyway, I’ll be scare round these parts for the better part of September, I’m thinking. I can’t hook up to the Internet until I’ve talked to Cloud Maiden and figured out what kind of service we want. But miss you all, of course. Muah!

I am ex-HAUS-ted
Got home around 3 hours ago, watched the end of Big while I munched on the remaining 2 pieces of yesterday’s chicken (more on that in a bit) and then watched Galaxy Quest again. Love Love LOVE that movie. And (yes, you may touch me) Daryl (formerly “Chill”) Mitchell’s sister works in my office (I haven’t met him yet, but I hope to, someday)
Chicken tale: There was a lot of food yesterday, all of it yummy. There were 4 of us in the office today (I had to make up for Monday because I was out of sick time) And the three of them had leftovers for lunch, and I told them I’d take home whatever was left sincec we won’t be back until Tuesday. Naturally, Smokey insisted on sharing my dinner with me.
Speaking of Smokey - I tried that new Elegant Medleys (the cat food that looks and smells like people food) on her and she devours it! She used to just have a few licks of her wet food in the morning when I put it out (depending on the flavor - there were some she’d look at, then look at me to say “you’re kidding, right?”) but this stuff - wow! And she’s seen where I keep the cans, so everytime I walk into the kitchen, she climbs inside the cabinet (weak magnet - easy to open from either side) and meows (and purrs) like crazy until I put some into her bowl
**rosie ** - we watched the end of Galaxy Quest - it is a fun flick! It was a nice break from the endless playings of Dirty Dancing and Godzilla. I don’t understand why some channels play the same movie over and over again within days, and sometimes on the same day. One day last week, one network was playing Dirty Dancing one after the other! I loves me some Patrick Swayze dancin’, but even that’s too much.
We’ll probably be moving back to watch TV in bed shortly. I should probably take a shower, too - I’ve got clay residue on my legs. I need to slather lotion on my hands, too - they’re dried out. It’s an unpleasant side effect of clay play. Just another way that I suffer for my art.
Yeah, I think a shower sounds good. Have a good evening, all! Nighty-night!
