Got A Beer Complaint? Tell Me All About It! The MMP

Home. Tired. No Verbs.

swampy, whenever Jesus gives something to someone in the Bible, He’s always trying to give them a message. What message was He trying to convey to you with those donut sticks? I bet it was something deeeep. :stuck_out_tongue:

btw, when I did the google search for donut sticks, there was this goofy youtube video about “how big is your donut stick”? It took a while to get to that Little Debbie’s site you linked.

FCM, if you’re looking for a sewing machine with a walking foot, you might want to check out the Viking/Husqvarna series. Their walking foot is built into the machine even on their low-end machines. You just press a lever behind the presser foot and the walking foot engages. No extra attachments required. So if you’re doing a lot of straight sewing like your sails or quilting, you can just leave it engaged all the time without thinking about it. The only time that you would need to disengage it would be when you’re easing in something like a sleeve or you’re trying to ease one longer piece of fabric into a shorter piece. At one time, Viking/Husqvarna had the patent on this feature so none of the other brands had it. But the patent ran out a few years ago, so supposedly Bernina also has this feature, but I haven’t been checking out machines lately, so I haven’t seen it.

And for all of you that haven’t shopped for a sewing machine lately, prices for high end machines can run upwards of $7K with add-ons like software quickly increasing the price.

Uh oh, Mamatigs, does this make me a sewing geek too? I’m way too many kinds of geek already.

Dotty, prayers going out to your sister.
**
doggio**, glad Lucretia made it. She didn’t sound yummy anyway.

palebunny, you go, girl! (Don’t tell your mom I said that!)

I’m still :: pouting:: about your calling me just “pretty good.” You thought I’d let that go, huh? Fat chance!
(that and I was playing in The Pit this morning. Nothing like rolling around in the mud to make you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. :p)

swampy, er. . . you might want to do a market study on that duct tape idea.
It’s hard for me to imagine some guys buying pale pink duct tape for their home improvement projects. :stuck_out_tongue:

I stand corrected by MBG’s link. Pale pink duct tape. Who knew?!

Hey Haze! ~waving to Haze~ You’re missed around here. I hope you get that internet connected soon.

doggio, sleep.
It was a really nice day here. Nothing planned and nothing done. Ah! My kind of day. Well, off to do more nothing!

Good nights to the domestics and good mornings to the non-domestics!

Busy day…grocery shopped, new kitty stuff shopped for, worked out, got stuff to make chili in the slow cooker tomorrow so I have dinner next week, went to Lowes and got the relevent tools to start removing tile from the bathroom and then nap time called.

Dinner was blackened chicken with salad and grilled squash and I am currently showered and on the couch catching up on DVR’d stuff - right now it is Psych - and I have a large Raspberry Vodka and 7UP that is going down waaaaaaay too well so I have a decent buzz going!

Love you all!

What, you’re asking the MMP denizens? of course this seems completely normal to us… And we’re looking forward to 'im going on and leaving you in our [del]clutches[/del] good care!

**Rigs **-- good news on the new, nice job!

**Roo **-- you sure you want to know what I really think? :dubious:

Great to see you, Haze. Well, hear from you… I mean, read you. Stoopit internet…

What’s up with all the drunken posts tonight? And me not around to take advantage of any of the drunks, either! :smack: :stuck_out_tongue:

SnowBunny – you’re being such a tease! You’re almost as bad as some male MMPers… oh, nobody in particular
Um… how does ex-Israeli-Airforce strike you…?
(**Tigs **-- you are not reading this, are you?)

First day of school here today… twins safely ensconced in sixth grade – should have been a breeze as they’re continuing with the same school and teacher except that they forgot to put TwinBoy’s name on the busing list :smack:  … but that’s been settled, too. So now I just have to take Special Teen to J’lem (she only starts at 2 PM this first Sunday) and say goodbye for 10 days…

:eek::eek: The nest is starting to empty. I feel so old!

It’s below 70 for the first time in months, and I gotta work all day. :frowning:

**Roo ** - thanks for the machine info. As it happens, I have a Viking, but it’s pretty old - I bought it used some years back, so it’s got a lot of miles… er… stitches on it. At the very least it needs servicing. There’s a Viking dealer in Waldorf, about 25 miles from here, so I’m going to go check it out - maybe they take trade-ins?

I’ve been productive already this morning. I just took a devilsfood cake out of the oven. I figured when it’s 55 outside, the kitchen won’t get overly warm. And since I was up anyway (Miss Brandy figured out how to get under the covers without my intervention - she found the gap in the covers at my neck and I was awakened by a furry carress down my spine) I took the dogs out and had them fed by 7.

Apart from weird dreams involving Chris Noth, a baby, and a 10’ high pile of gravel, I had a good night. That’s 2 in a row - yay! Of course, sleeping in till 7-ish is going to kick my butt come Tuesday at 4:45. Maybe tomorrow I’ll make myself get up around 6 to ease the transition. Or not. We’ll see.

**FCD ** is trying to decide if he wants to go out for breakfast this morning. So we shall see what’s on the agenda for today. Meanwhile, the house smells yummy and cakerrific!

That’s easy. Tell him no cake until he’s had a good breakfast. Y’all will be at Denney’s in no time!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienated here and about to go purty up for churchin’, brunchin’ and birthdayin’. Did I mention that I hatched a plan with the kiddie SS teacher to get the kids to sing Happy Birthday to birthday girl? That’ll be a surprise. Well, that and the flowers we ordered and have placed in the church in her honor this mornin’. They’re purty flowers too! I like the way gettin’ flowers for the church is done too. See, you sign up for whatever Sunday and you can either arrange for flowers to be delivered or the church will make the arrangements and bill you. I chose the latter route. Much easier that way and the place the church orders from is where I’d go anyways cause it’s the best florist in town. All win win!

Ok, off for purtification and gettin’ ol’ y’all know who to stir cause we do need to be there early to take care of some stuff.

Later Y’all!

I’m up. Woke up a couple of times in the middle of the night, but didn’t get up till after 8. Yay!

The brunch sounds like fun, swampy!

Sounds like MBG is needed in Tel Aviv. Perhaps when he becomes an international transportation consultant… Glad it all got straightened out.

Hi mmmmmmmmmms! Your dinner sounded yummy.

I turned Adblock off and looked at ads last night. Didn’t see any in German. :frowning: I coulda translated!

I’m getting laundry together so that I can do it after church. Also, I’m eating breakfast.
And posting. Should stop with at least one of these for a moment…

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the prayers - Sis is okay now and back at home for Australian Father’s Day (first Sunday in September). Turns out it was pericarditis (inflammation of the pericardium, or sac surrounding the heart) brought on by some kind of viral infection.

Noor is teething now so I am getting less sleep than usual as she is back to waking up several times a night, needing teething gel and comforting. At least that only takes about a minute, rather than the previous 30+ minutes for feeding.

At this late stage in the week, I simply don’t have the energy to catch up and comment fully, so hugs, yays, boos, etc. as appropriate, with a personal chocolate love offering for FCM ('cause sometimes you need to have some brownie points stored up just in case) .

Swampy – I know you meant “Sunday School teacher,” but that “SS” still gave me an  moment! Not your fault, just one of those things… I’m sure it’s going to be great fun!

MBG isn’t needed here for my kids – apparently I kicked enough ass on Friday that everything was patched up oh-so-smoothly today – but there were ~5 more kids (out of only about 100) whose names the school never passed on to the municipality for busing  At least a few of those parents had to pick their children up today because there was no room on the buses and they didn’t manage to shift things around to have larger vehicles for those routes on time. I have a feeling I’ll hear more about this in the next few days, but it’s definitely surrounded by a SEP field now, as far as I’m concerned.

'Course, you’re still very welcome to come visit here as a tourist… just wait a few months until the outside air is slightly more breathable than the mouth of an open blast furnace… (actually, it’s not that bad – **Dotty **has it a lot worse than I do, as do major parts of the South in the US. But it’s always fun bitching about the weather! :p)

**Dotty **-- has Noor got at least one tooth top and bottom? It gets easier once you get past that landmark – the first tooth in each gum is the real killer.

Well, we drove past Denny’s and wound up at the Golden Corral for the buffet. Not great, but not too disgusting. Then we ran to Home Despot for a replacement plug. **FCD ** is converting an old thickness planer into a slab roller for me, and the old plug was the wrong kind. He’s replacing it now.

Cake is frosted and dishwasher is dishwashing. I’m about to change into clay grubbies and get back to work. I need to throw a saucer for the flowerpot I threw yesterday, then I start underglazing and clear glazing. Busy busy busy.
I’ve also seen where my check for the show in late October has cleared, so it looks like I’m good to go on that one, too.

Dotty, you are wise - one can never make too many chocolate love offerings.

And with that, I’m off to find some grubbies. I’m thinking I won’t be firing till maybe Monday night. Cutting it close… Then there’s all the pricing to do.

Nooner, no teeth at all yet, hence the torture for all of us. The nightly wake-up calls are a pain, but Noor is also really needy during the day and can’t sit for more than a couple of minutes on her own before she gets grizzly! ::sigh:: Speaking of grizzly baby …

Good morning everyone. I’m sitting here enjoying my coffee and survyeying my plan of attack for the last of the school shopping.

We finished with the clothes and shoes yesterday, but we still need to buy school supplies and some bras for my daughter. It was a long day at the MAUL, but we survived. Even more pleasant was the fact that the kids didn’t give me too much grief.

Mr. Taters was exhausted yesterday after helping our friends move into their new home. As it turns out, he was the only one who showed up to help. The other two that were going to help bowed out at the last moment. So, he and said friend loaded up a 24 foot U-Haul twice and unloaded it twice at the new house. The wife of the friend was waiting at the new house for the refrigerator to be delivered and after that she was off doing some other things. So basically, it was two guys and a moving truck. All the friends have left is some little stuff that they can handle on their own. I would have helped, but I had to take the kids shopping.

Mr. Taters is going to go wakeboarding with the neighbor later this morning. This evening, we’re going to the same neighbor’s house for a 99 party. We’ve purchased raspberry vodka as our contribution to the festivities because the neighbor asked us to bring it. He has the food well under control, so we’re not bringing any of that. Which reminds me, I need to make sure I get some five dollar bills for the games tonight.

Here’s hoping everyone has a pleasant day today.

I have NOTHING constructive to do today!!!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…

:dubious: Wait, Mr. Bus Guy I thought you were accompanying your wife on her shopping trip today. How did you get out of it?

Morning, all. With the windows open last night and the temp getting down in the 60s, it was lovely sleeping weather, so Papa Tigs left the cat and I do snore away till I slept myself out. I’m feeling all caught up on sleep for the first time in too long; it’s a nice feeling.

Sorry Noor is so cranky, Dotty. Hang in there. Like Special One said, it’s the first teeth that seem to cause the most misery; after that they get more used to it or something.

I saw no encouragement of misbehavior or flirting with my daughter in this thread. Nuh-uh, not me, 'cause I know nobody here would do that to me.

Of course you’re a sewing geek, too, Roo. Join the crowd! All kinds of geekery is welcome around here, you know that!

Happy birthday to Swampy’s birthday girl! I know she’ll enjoy the flowers and singing, but most of all the attention. She sounds like a terrific person; good on yer for taking such good care of her!

Off to veg some more and enjoy the purty day!

ETA: Oh, I knew I forgot something. This morning when I cranked up my home page, there on the top news headlines was an article about snowbunny’s fire! Click on the photo for a good look at what it’s been like for those poor firefighters – talk about difficult terrain! It’s no surprise things have been a bit touch-and-go there for a while, but it looks like good news from here on out.

Up, purtified, chili is slow cooking, bed is stripped and washed and drying. Just gotta take trash out then I am off to pick up the new kitty!

Squuuueeeeeeeee!

Oh, NOW they notice it! They couldn’t have noticed a couple of weeks ago when we were worried the town was going to burn down, could they? Nooooooooo. Now that everything’s well in hand, they finally notice. goes off muttering various obscenities that really don’t belong in MPSIMS

For me, it was the molars on the babies that made life hell. And the drool! My God-my daughter could have watered the town with her drool…

Just watered my newly transplanted (last week) day lillies and hosta. Need to clean bathrooms, write one paper and a position for a debate, wrap birthday presents and go to MIL’s (for an hour-I have too much to do to sit around with people who don’t talk, comment on what you eat constantly, praise Bush et al and make derogatory remarks about minorities. Why yes, I DON’T like my inlaws all that much… (although my FIL has been very good re my kids. Just don’t start on him on the subject of Democrats–we’re EVIL–and well, you get the picture). I’m so glad I got past the DIL of guilt of “I must stay here and be dutiful because this is family” stuff.

Key word: “constructive

Ok, I did grab a couple of those work clothes (sweaters and the like) at the store, and on the stop downtown grabbed a couple books from the library, and then I DID talk her into going out to this as soon as she gets out of the shower.

But it’s not meaningful, 'accomplishing things" kind of stuff, it’s just goofing off on Sunday stuff.
