HAPPY BIRTHDAY, I2X![/center]

So, I woke up this morning, turned on the monitor, and the computer was … fine. No crashes or seizures. It was perfectly normal. Thus, the battery seems to have been the culprit for the entire range of problems. Which means that yes, BooFae, the problems appear to be sorted on my end, anyway, so that’s a relief. I hate technology sometimes.

Dotty - It’s possible that your firewall was blocking certain rather important services from doing their thing over the network. Firewalls can be tricky bastages to set up if you don’t know what programs/services need network access and/or don’t know know what ports and/or what protocols they use on those ports. A good firewall though should be aware of all of the most common required connections, ports and protocols and handle them accordingly. If it can’t, it’s time for a new firewall.

Swampus Cerveza - No, no. Not that Loki. That one’s a good doggie. (I presume at the moment, anyway.) The other one. The on that’s currently on the floor in the fetal position, sobbing quietly and holding his crotch.

Popping in to say hello. Hello! Happy Birthday, Interface!

All these new faces! Yay! Don’t forget the chocolate love offerings to FCM, because she’s nice, dammit!

I’m sorry for all you sickies, and hope y’all feel better soon.

Let’s see, the only thing I’ve been up to lately (besides up to my ass in work!) is cooking, as usual. Right now I’m eating lefotver prima vera for breakfast. Last night I made a yummy chicken, wild rice, and broccoli casserole. And chocolate cake! (I will push some through the CD drive for those who require some.)

I also took some to my coffee guy. Did I tell y’all about that? I’ve been rewarding the clerk at the Valero station for sometimes giving me free coffee by bringing him baked goods. You should see him smile! It’s fun to be nice, sometimes. He always makes sure there is fresh coffee made when I come in at 6:30 am.

Ok - better go tackle some work. Boo.

3 days to go until vacation!!!

Uhm, isn’t primavera a single word in Italian as well as in Spanish? Just sayin’…

hands complimentary San Miguel and Estrella to the newcomers

It is? My bad…

Oh, rosie! Damn, that’s horrible. ((((rosie))))

Alice, prayers headed out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, INTERFACE!!!

Good. We’re all about fighting ignorance here. gt, I am pretty sure that I’m not going to stop puking. At least it’s slowed down a lot. Once or twice a week isn’t awful. I’m 21 weeks now, and usually if you stopped, you’ve stopped by week 16 or so. I’m just lucky.
I’m not sure I have anything specific to do today. I think i’ll make some chocolate peanut butter squares, and eat a lot of them. Aside from a couple of minor chores, I think that’s all I have to do before work.

Leave my dog alone!

Oh, and Mork, you can’t kick him in the yarbles. They were surgically removed last March…

yawn I’m caffeinating, though I just found out that I didn’t need to – with all the craziness around here, we’re closing until after Labor Day. Ouch. Oh well, it won’t kill me to be up, and I do need to go down there and put up a sign letting people know.

Happy Birthday, Interface!

I’m up and caffeinating, but I make no guarantees about actually being awake. I was up till nearly 4:00 last night working – got the congressional [del]drivel[/del] [del]fishing expedition[/del] deposition done – and then made myself get up after 4.5 hours of sleep to do it all over again – I have one more short super-rush job they sent me out to make up for screwing up the delivery on the first one and sending me odd pieces instead of a nice neat chunk. Are we having fun yet? Thank Og for caffeine, anyway!

Your MIL sounds like she’s definitely a challenge, Dotty. Do you think she’s just obnoxious because she doesn’t like you, or is she that obnoxious to everyone? Because she certainly sounds like she can be a piece of work.

No other news here, so time to get back to work. Lucky me. Is it naptime yet?

Happy Birthday interface2x!!!
…[/color]…*

30? Get offa my lawn, kid!

Up and caffeinating. I have to pick up Maggie Wonderbeagle’s meds, and run by the Hurricane gift shop before work(18 more days till hockey season :Snoopy dance: ) I even get a day off next week.

Dotty, sorry about the MIL. They wrote a song about her.

Gukumatz, ouch! I only pay $9 for a beer at airports and hockey games.

I say send Shank’s pony to the stables(spa) and treat 'er right.
Am off to work.

Happy Birthday to** interface**. Everybody else–get better and good wishes!

**Happy Birthday Interface! **
(Don’t you have a nickname yet?) I’ve got a year and almost 4 months until I turn 30. I think I need to come up with something wild and fun to do before then. I’m open to suggestions. But not skydiving.

I’m making a sample swatch doing just what you and **Jah **said, Mama Tigs. So far it’s looking really good. The only thing that’s hard to tell is whether it’ll look as good full-sized. After the first baby blanket, I used what was left of the yarn to make a doll blanket, and that one - on a smaller scale than the baby blanket - didn’t roll. So even if the swatch doesn’t I’m not totally convinced that the full-sized blanket won’t. But I’ll try. And all of these early projects are going to people who won’t complain if the final result doesn’t look perfect.

And I’m making a scarf for myself too, just 'cause. I used up one of the colors of yarn from mika, but the scarf was too short so I just picked up a complementary color at the store to finish it off. For that I’m doing a knit 3, perl 3 pattern which is quite pretty and it’s making it nice and thick so I think it’ll be really warm. The only problem left is figuring out how to make a fringe on the edges.

Ooh and we’ve had good food lately too. Monday night I made homemade pesto and used part of it on penne & zucchini and the rest on some tuna steaks. Tuna + pesto = major YUM! Then last night was our stand-by of stuffed peppers (using Italian sausage to make the stuffing instead of ground meat) and I made some polenta to go with them. Also very yum!

Man, I hope I’m racking up those valuable Karma points, because 4 composite hours of sleep really sucks. Gather 'round kiddies for another VunderBob Rescue Tale[sup]tm[/sup].

Yesterday was a bad day in general. The NerdMobile has been giving me fits of late, and I had a flat tire over the weekend. Took it to the tire place Monday to get it fixed, and found out that the tire on the other side was starting to show cord, establishing once and for all that I need new rubber on the beast every six months despite alignments. I took it to Sam’s Club last night and got it over with. Two hundred samolians always puts me in a good mood…

On the way home, I stopped at the Suffolk PD to get a new copy of the accident report for VWife, and I found out they have a warrant out for her, related to the wreck. She’s wanted for reckless driving.

I got home way too late to light the grill for the steaks I’ve been jonesing for 3 days now, so we just grazed on musgo. I dragged my butt to bed, rolled over and I was out.

I was probably out for 20 minutes or so, and I heard a rescue page at 10:30. It was for an old guy, bleeding profusely from the rectum . Then I heard the address; it was for my neighbor across the road   Superman would have been jealous of the leap I did getting out of the sack.

Fred is an old black guy, and is very cool. If you look at him, you’d think he’s the model for Grandpa in Boondocks. We’ve sort of adopted them, and both of us look out for the other. I was across the road with my bag before the ambulance left the station, and last night there was a full crew.

It was very tough, and embarrassing for me, to ask to check under his knickers, but I did. It’s one thing to rip the top off some anonymous granny to do CPR, but this is a guy I give my apples away to freely, and try to defend with a shotgun…

Wow, he was a bleedin’, too. I put a dressing back there for him to sit on, and started doing vitals and history. The ambulance arrived, I told them what I found out, helped load him up and sent them on the way. That’s when I switched from VBob the EMT to VBob the concerned neighbor. I drove son Scott to the hospital and sat in the waiting room with him and his mom while they worked on Fred.

When we left at 0400, they knew why he was bleeding so bad, a platelet problem of some kind. Unanswered was the source of the bleeding, which they will go looking for today. Fred spent the night. I got to bed at 0430, when my alarm clock goes off at 0455 normally. I shut it off, and Loki got me up at 0700.

I think I need an IV to supply the caffeine necessary to keep me awake today. Blurgf.

VunderBob, I hope your neighbor is okay.

Dotti, your MIL sounds like a piece of work. Send me a lock of her hair and I’ll make a voodoo doll for you.

Gah. Moving tomorrow = six billion things that need to be done today, :: bustles off ::

Dotty, the offer of ninjaing your MILstill stands.

Bob, I hope the neighbour is okay. It would be a lot more awkward checking a friend and neighbour’s butt for bleeding. Ouch.
I just shredded four enormous zuchinni. Attacks Husband brought them over last night. We now have enough shredded zuchinni to last until we get really sick of it.

Happy late Birthday face !

We had a pretty good morning for the first day of school. I gave it a B.

Lessee heah…

Happy Birfday, Face!

I would love to be thirty again. Well, I WILL be again in exactly one year come Sunday.

rosie, that sucks!

mork, do not piss off the gods…particularly Loki.

dotty, your MIL sounds like a bully. Stand your ground and tell her you won’t be treated that way. I know you are trying to keep peace but that won’t happen until she understands that she cannot speak to you like that.

bobbio, good vibes going out to your neighbor. Sounds bad. :frowning:

I am also taking Friday off for a nice long weekend. Pool party on Sunday!!

I got nuttin else…

Tupug

oooo! I wonder how fast I can book a flight?

Maybe, or not. It could be as simple as having to work too hard on the john (he did earlier yesterday), to something as ugly as colon cancer. We’re hoping for option 1.

They did say that whatever his platelet problem was, it’s a simple fix.

Ooh, can we come too? We’ll bring the brats! (Bratwurst, not annoying kiddies.)
