Can you bring chairs, too?
Won’t need them. We’ll be in the pool…
I finished all that rush work. Whew! Now the question is, should I take a nap or should I just go to bed at a decent hour tonight? If I take a nap, I’m afraid I’ll be up till all hours. Decisions, decisions.
Dotty, I actually have a genyoowine voodoo doll (from Mardi Gras a couple years ago). Where would you like me to stick the pins?
I sure hope things turn out okay with your neighbor, Bobbio. I’m glad you were both a handy EMT and a handy neighbor. Keep us posted.
I know there was something else I was going to mention, but it’s long gone now. My brain feels like a sieve. A very tired sieve. Off to sort knitting patterns or something equally mentally strenuous.
This morning flew by! I am working on a huge binder with tabs copy job. That’s the easy part. The hard part is getting all that info on those itty-bitty labels, because even though there is an index, each tab has to have the full name, instead of just the letter, which they can reference in the index…And then I broke the copier. Whee!
I’m so, so glad tomorrow’s my last day here. I’ve tried to be polite, “my assignment is ending on Thursday,” except that they know that the firm *should * have hired me, so they keep asking why I’m not staying. One and a half more days.
Home on time today!! YAAAAAY! And to celebrate, I got to clean up Scruffy hork. yay.
My training exercise is over and I think it was pretty successful overall. One of our biggest goals was to shake out a new webpage-posting program that we had 2 whole hours of training on. Fortunately, they had an expert in the room for each shift, so we had someone to call for help and such. I was reading the Lessons Learned log - here’s hoping they can put some of the suggestions into practice.
And because of all of the hours I worked, by end of shift tomorrow, I’ll have completed in excess of the 80 hours required for the 2-week period, so I can take off on Friday - YAY! I gots me a hot date with John Deere - woohoo! The John Deere part is the easy phase - just ride around and back and forth. Then there’s the push-the-mower-thru-the-ditch phase - and the weeds are mighty tall in the ditch. Unfortunately, it’s too steep for the mower. But at least I can get it done on Friday.
Happy Belated B-day, Interface! Thirty ain’t close to old - heck, I’m old enough to be your mother! So hesh up, young 'un, and bring me my rheumatiz medicine!!!
Crazy couple days here - we had some VIP higher ups visit yesterday so I was tied up catering to their needs all freaking day yesterday then it was dinner at a fancy Italien place where the food was kinda meh with a late night and a very early morning today as they wanted to go out to the field to see a job then changed their minds! grrrrrrrrrr
And we have to go for dinner tonight with the VIP’s and the rest of the entourage that arrived today. I was specifically told no jeans at dinner by my dissapproving indirect boss so I pushed it and asked if sneakers were OK - I recieved the look and I giggled.
Indirect Boss does not like me at all and the feeling is mutual so I try to be good but then my inner teenager comes out when he pisses me off and I rebel
I wish they would leave us alone and just let us get on with it
VBob I hope the neighbour is OK
Someone convince me not to eat all the chocolate peanut butter squares. That I made for Mr. Lissar.
They’re little peanut-butter-chocolate-butter-sugar bricks. They’re awesome.
Push 'em through the CD drive for me, LiLi. Maybe some sugar would give me a temporary burst of energy enough to at least make it through to bedtime.
Or, in the alternative, post the recipe? Por favor?
I think, if I can summon up the energy to put all the folded laundry away that’s currently occupying the dresser top in the bedroom where the TV sat till snowbunny took it with her, I’ll see if Papa Tigs feels up to moving snowbunny’s TV into the bedroom. Then I shall retire for the evening with my knitting, a book, and a new Mythbusters. But first I have to summon the energy to put the folded laundry away. Right now I’m not sure I even have that much.
I did, however, finally get all my knitting patterns inserted into sheet protectors and filed in notebooks. I’ll do a further organization later, but at least now I have one notebook for hat patterns, one for scarves, one for shawls, etc. I can see my next task will be to clear some bookshelf space for the notebooks, since there’s six of them thus far but I can tell that that number will grow rapidly as I start adding sweater patterns & such.
I’ve also got to design & knit an Aran sweater for snowbunny before it gets cold enough for her to need it, which will be sooner than I’m used to, that’s for sure. When we were digging for some other stuff in the attic not too long ago, I found a batch of yarn I’d bought in Ireland lo these many years ago that I’d forgotten all about, a heavenly deep blue with tweedy flecks of other colors scattered through it. There’s not enough for a sweater for a less-than-svelte person like me, but snowbunny is small enough that there’s plenty for one for her. So she instantly claimed it. She gets the rewards, I get the work. Is that a metaphor for motherhood or what?
Hi all. Got back two hours ago from Jerusalem. Where we deposited Special Teen. She got the room assignment she wanted – with two other girls she had met over the summer vacation – and the place seems really nice. I think she’ll be OK
**Dotty **and **Roo **-- cat fight? Over little moi?

Long day. Tired. Appropriate boos and yays to everyone…
Is this a public high school, Special One, or is there such a thing in Israel? I know nothing of your educational system, alas. I know that in some remote areas of the US, public high schools are boarding schools, but otherwise the only boarding schools are private schools.
sigh
Private, and by invitation only on a very merit-oriented basis. Expensive as all get-out (unless you can show need for a special scholarship), but by all accounts well worth it both in terms of the education they get and the doors that graduating from it will open for her!
Well, congrats to Special Teen for getting into such a good school, then! I hope she does really well there and makes you even prouder.
Quite a sigh there, **zelie ** - you need a hug or some chocolate or a strong drink or something??
Talked to Scott, Fred’s son. Another night in the hospital with more tests tomorrow; the working diagnosis is profound constipation and blood thinners. That’s tending toward a good scenario.
I’m in favor of a pool party, too! I’ll bring a salad. (We can camp in your back yard, right, Puggy?) I mean, how could you think of celebrating your birthday without us? I, for one, promise not to overstay my welcome. I’m due in Chicago on Friday (yay!), after all.
Hope your neighbor is better soon, Bobbio. He’s lucky to have you as a neighbor.
What’s wrong, zelie?
Of course SpecialTeen was invited to that school! I hear that being the child of a Mumper is an automatic in. Hope she enjoys it. How long does it take to get from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem? Will you get to go visit her as well as have her come home periodically?
*It’s a mystery!!! *I got an unsigned postcard from Charleston, SC today. I’m trying to figure out who it could be from. Seems to me someone told me they were going to be in SC on vacation, but I don’t remember who it was. Also, I don’t think it was anyone who would have my home address. Hmmmm. I don’t recognize the handwriting.
Left work early to go to the doc-in-a-box. I am dumb and have been harboring bugs in my urinary tract for a while, I think. Didn’t really pay attention to the signs and then this morning I was in lotsa pain at work.
So I went to the doc and have taken my first Cipro (can’t do sulfa). They gave me pain stuff in case I need it. For the moment, I don’t seem to. Best part was that both meds are on the pharmacy’s $4/scrip list. Yay!
Just had an early dinner - thinly sliced steak, braised in balsamic vinegar and rice wine with 5-spice powder and Adobo (garlic salt with oregano). Very yum. Also, the other 1/2 a plantain from yesterday. It survived overnight freezing quite happily. I’ll see if I can make 1/2 of the other one last longer in the freezer. For some reason, I’m really craving plantains.
I’m tired (have you noticed how I’ve said I’m tired a lot lately? I think teh sick was why…). Guess I’ll do some relaxing while the antibiotics get working. Don’t suppose they’ll work soon… (Guess I should go read about this…)
Back later…
GT
Hugs would be nice. Just one of those days I think. Y’all can keep your chocolate though, I wouldn’t deprive you of that.
Congrats and commis to everyone who needs em. I haven’t had time to read the fred lately but I’ll try to catch up later in the week.
BBBobbio it sounds like nuttin’ too serious for the neighbor then. Great. He’s lucky he’s got you for a neighbor!
So, I guess I have to sing extra loud Sunday so it can be heard down in Flahrduh.
I’s tahrd and sore. I spent a big part of the day learnin’ what it’s like to take down, clean and put back together a filler. We had a down day for maintenance and I was all curious about what they did to maintain the filler so I opened my big mouth and got my wish. I’s TAHRD! No ol’ y’all know who tonight either cause he’s workin’ late and just wants to go home and collapse after he finishes, poor thang! At least we have a three day weekend comin’ up with no big plans. YAY!
Ok, gonna go mess around a bit and may have to turn off the puter soon. Sounds like there may be storms a’ brewin’ shortly.

Happy 30th Birthday, Interface!
Yeah, you’re really old!
swampy, are you so sure? They were probably fighting over your talents AND your natural beauty.
Yes, please. ::: pant, pant, pant::: And I like scritches too.
Sorry about the MIL situation, but congrats on your patience. I would have been out of there before she even noticed.
Lili, consider my ignorance fought in that area.
**
FCM**, have a good time with John Deere. Don’t wear him out.
Yay! for Special Teen. I’m sure she’ll be outsmarting her Old Man any day now, if she isn’t already. (I’m sure she is but just too polite to say so.)
Uh, . . . no. I’m trying to convince Dotty to go away with me instead of you. I think I’m making some good headway too.
gt, how do plaintains taste? They look like bananas on the outside, right?
And I hope I’m not getting your brand of teh sick since your’s isn’t contagious. I did sleep about 10 or 11 hours last night though.

All together now, group grope hug: {{{{{zelie}}}}}
