Hubs remembered to close the bathroom door and GG thought he should try to cram himself in under the door by using some sort of melting cat trick which didn’t work. While he was trying to press his body through the door he managed to somehow get a couple of his back toes pinched because they were sticking through the back of the door hinge gap while the door was opening.
GG was squalling and couldn’t run away because the door was eating his toes and hubs couldn’t open the door because GG’s toes were in the way.
The drama was extreme but I did manage to convince Hubs that GG didn’t need to go to the vet because even if the lil jerkface did have broken toes, they would just treat him like a human and tape his toes together. GG is just fine. Hubs OTOP is still having palpitations.
I did miscount my piece by a thread and now I have to remember how I was planning to cheat it cause there is no way I am going to start over.
I sent our tenant an email saying we’re increasing the rent 3.9% as of 1 January. He replied that he received the email, and ‘OK.’ I had my rent raised when I was a renter, so I hate to do it. But after all, it’s a business. And even with the increase, the rent is still just over half the prevailing rate. This will mean an extra $25/month for me, my sister, and the house.
Honestly, I wish my sister would just let me sell the house.
I’m so glad to be home! The train to Seattle was over two hours late. The crew wasn’t happy about it, either. I felt bad for them. A woman waiting for the train said maybe I could drive to Seattle, and when I explained I can’t drive due to vision issues, she gave me her complete vision history and asked a lot of questions. Yes, having a lot of eye surgeries is the same as “reading law” in Lincoln’s day, so do trust whatever I say. I did disabuse her of the notion that pineapple juice can get rid of floaters (drinking it, not dripping it in your eyes).
We’ve been getting rain, blissful rain here all day! It wasn’t raining as hard in Seattle, but it’s still rain. You can practically see the ferns inhaling great draughts of wet air and beaming and nodding at each other like Deadheads at a free concert. I am VERY happy.
The appointment went OK. I thought this was minor surgery, but they’re acting like uh, not so much. No strenuous exercise for a MONTH afterward. MetalMouse, you’ll be sweating for two. And they don’t want me taking the train alone later that day. (Surgery will be insanely early.) But I want to go hooooome.
JtC, the GG story had me snort-laughing. [Cue Mrs. Olson: “The richest kind.”] I love that cat.
VanGo, aren’t you the clever one? Kudos to you-dos.
Shoe, dang, Monkey is clever. Maybe you should rename him Koko, after the brainy gorilla.
Home. Have read, but am not retaining, and am too tired to come up with anything witty. I mean, it was a good night - no rude customers, and I didn’t make any colossal mistakes (that I know of!) but it does get tiring.
Monkey is howling for attention, and I’m trying to decompress and get hungry (e.g. smoking) so imma sign off for now. Plus I was music D.J. tonight (my phone’s Pandora linked up to the store’s speaker) so my phone is just about dead on charge.
I’m heading off to do battle with my new CPAP, sigh. First 2 nights went ok, easier the 2nd night. Last night was a bust. I lasted all of 58 minutes, tossed the mask off and slept (badly and not nearly enough) without it. Obviously this is a long term project with bumps in the road before I’ll see improvement.
I coulda put this in the “pet photos” thread, but figured y’all would appreciate it more. This is Monkey, just now, living the good life. The polka-dot is my leg; he sandwiched himself between my lap and my papazan, folded his paws, and assumed his very best “I’m cute & content!” position.
I believe he was in his 50s… FCD did get some info as well as the name of his brother’s caseworker. Right now, my main involvement will be taking BIL to his Dr appt on the 31st - SS wants to do an audit of his disability since one has never been done. He’s definitely a mess - and worse since his fall and concussion. He refuses to believe that he fractured his skull because he doesn’t remember it. And he gets belligerent when it’s brought up. Plus he’s quit taking his Zoloft. It’s a mess.
I’ve never gone on one of the super-mega size ships, but on those in the 2-3000 passenger range, I’ve never had a problem finding a quiet place to slip away. YMMV. Personally, I love cruising.
Kinda slept in today, which is getting easier since it’s after 7 and still mostly dark out. Today’s plan is to do the yard - not sure if it’ll include the mulcher/vac or just mowing/mulching without the attachment (which would be my vote.) I need to mow the ditches for sure. But it’s got to be done today because we’re promised rain tomorrow. Maybe we’ll try a movie then?
I got all the laundry done last night - one load of unders was pretty easy to dispatch. But I really should strip the bed, which creates another load. Maybe tomorrow? No matter - nothing is urgent this weekend… so far.
metal mouse, that was my point when I made the online complaint. The cop looked about 12 years old (get off my lawn!) and obviously lacked some good judgement skills.
flyboy, would your sister be interested in buying out your half the house? Sounds like you’re doing the work there and she’s just collecting her part of the rent.
Up and caffeinating. I’m fixing to get in the shower before making breakfast (huevos Mexicanos, salsa verde, refritas with queso blanco, sliced avocado, chorizo and corn tortillas) when SIL gets here. After that, we’re going down around Monteagle to leaf peep. It should be a good day.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 39 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 76 and N.O.S. for the day. We shall accomplish our usual sloth and general overall uselessness. 'Tis Sattidy, so college tackleball is on the agenda. Sup shall be cubed steak 'n gravy, rice (cause gravy), peas 'n carrots, and rolls. Yep, actual cookage shall occur! The plus side is there will be leftovers for tomorrow.
red glad you’re makin’ a complaint. The idiot should have known better than to do that.
flyboy perhaps you could suggest to your sister that it is time for her to be handlin’ the maintenance on the rental property. Maybe that would prompt her to want to sell.
JtC GG could star in his own kitty sitcom.
shoe Monkey knows how to turn on the cute after he causes mayhem!
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
It’s currently 44 degrees with an expected high of 51 and rain showers interspersed with cloudy skies. Yesterday’s glorious rain did a lot to wash out the crud in the air and I’m very thankful for that.
Speaking of crud, it’s back. Maybe I’ve worked my way into the beginnings of a sinus infection. If I don’t see improvement by mid-week I’m going to have to call the doc, damn it. It doesn’t help that the husband has it too and I think it’s a case of passing germs back and forth. I am sick of coughing and not really producing anything, but, at the same time feeling like I’m choking because whatever crud there is in the back of my sinuses is thick. However, when I blow my nose, nothing really comes out. Sorry, TMI.
The husband went to the grocery store yesterday and I asked him to pick up the ingredients for split pea soup. I thought some nice, homemade soup would go down well this weekend. However, there seems to have been a run on split peas, because there were none to be found. So, we’re having navy bean soup instead.
I’m going to finish my coffee, start the soup, and clean up the kitchen. Have a good day everyone.
I’m bone tired. I won’t go into detail because it’s not exciting or interesting. I am so tired I canceled my riding lesson and am staying home. In my pjs. All day.
It would be nice if I could let her handle everything, since she lives down there; but she’s irresponsible. As it is, I withhold ⅔ of her share of the rent so that I can pay the property taxes on her house – especially after she got suckered into getting a ‘free’ solar system for it. She knows she’s irresponsible, so she doesn’t want to sell the house because she (and especially her man) would blow through it quickly. Still, we lose the depreciation deduction in 10 years (or less) so we won’t be making any money from rent.
He is very cute. Are those meltingly gorgeous eyes asking you to rub his tummy?
Thanks for reminding me~gotta go check when my Cornhuskers are playing. I listen to it on radio since I refuse to pay for our ridiculous cable here. Listening to it turns out to be quite fun and then in a few hours I watch highlights videos online showing the significant plays. I live about a mile from the stadium so if it is a home game I hear the fireworks when we score a touchdown.
Last night’s CPAP wearing went well, to my huge relief~maybe I will get the hang of this. It going well is cheering me up out of all proportion to the event. Mostly because the night before was a complete and utter fail and I could not figure out what I was doing wrong. The CPAP gremlins seem to have gotten over their snit though.
Mowage/mulchage is done. Next week, we’ll need to drag along the mulcher/vac as there will be an abundance of leaves to remove. Today, I just drove around, discharging as much as I could towards the woods and such.
FCD is taking his folks to the Marine Museum. I think I’ll read for a while, because I can.
I mended my truck. The fan for the heater was only working on high, and kinda smelled like electricity, evidently this is a known problem on Tacomas, cuz there are tons of youtube vids on it. It only took 5 minutes, and most of that was spent finding the right socket. (My home sockets are a total mess.)
Boo Yay for good sleeping!
red Sounds like a great brekkie.
shoe Cute kitteh.
Now onward to the rest of the day. No further plans, so don’t know what I’ll get up to. Well, aside from soup, tis good soup weather.
Thinking ahead, I cut up the potatoes for home fries this morning, and put them in a bowl of water in the fridge, so I wouldn’t have to cut them this morning. I pulled out some eggs this morning to come up to room temperature (-ish) when Wifey got up. She said, ‘Don’t make me any potatoes.’ It wasn’t until she woke up a bit that she saw the bowl of potatoes I put out and said she’d forgotten that I cut them last night. She said I could make her potatoes.
Breakfast was cooked without blowing a circuit. The old switch sounded like it was arcing. I guess that was affecting the whole house, and it manifested itself in turning off the living room. No arcing detected in the new switch. Yet.
They have another BYE this weekend. Then they need to win three out of the last five games to be bowl eligible. I have never been a sportsball fan but I have been following the Scott Frost train wreck for the last five seasons
Thanks for telling me. I’d looked quickly at a schedule and not noticed that the Illinois game is not today but a week from today. Had it not been for you I’d have spent a frantic, confused chunk of time searching my radio dial for the broadcast today. We could use the bye week to continue improving. Gotta go cancel that game time! alarm on my iPad and put a reminder in my google calendar for the Illinois game next Saturday.
What would I do without my Mumper friends to help my bonked brain? I don’t want to find out.
