Grab a leaf rake in the MMP!

Afternoon all. Soccer is almost done for the year, tournament games next Saturday and that should be it. U10’s lost 2-5 after being ahead 2-1 and 12U boys lost 3-2 in a real great game. And then 4-5 of them showed up and removed (well, I helped in a couple of spots) my beard; if I get around to it I’ll post some before and after pictures on the Book of Faces. I was ready for it to go and the kids had a lot of fun with it. Home now and tired, so not much planned on the activity meter.

Flyboy, glad the circuits are holding. And I rather think your tenant knows he is still getting a great deal even with the increase.

VanGo, glad the truck repair was a quick fix.

Wet one, sloth is good. Just look at swampy and me…then again… :grinning: Take care.

Shoe, love the pic of Monkey relaxing.

BBBoo, glad the CPAP is going well for you; if it brings you relief, that will make it all worthwhile.

Taters, get well soon.

JtC, just to echo FCM, even on the 3,000-4,000 passenger ships there are quiet places and some of the programming is not well attended but still interesting. Take a short one (3-5 days), they are relatively cheap and you’re not committing to 9-12 days of cruising. And GG and Hubby story reads like a cartoon strip.

nellie, glad you made it in time, as for the sweating…we’ll see. Use your best judgement on the homeward leg.

OK, think I’m all caught up, humble apologies to any I forgot, now onward into the afternoon.

We heard one of our local bald eagles. It always amuses me that when you hear a bald eagle on TV (e.g., ‘America!’ commercials) they’re all like ‘Screeeee! Screeeee! I’m bad-ass!’ But when you hear them in real life they’re like, ‘Tweet! Tweet-tweet-tweet-tweet!’

I['m glad I made you laugh. Hubs and I spent half an hour or so playing with the door and a pencil. We figured out that there is a split second while the door is swinging to where something can be inserted and get stuck while holding the door still. I’d like to think that GG learned his lesson but watching him today makes me realize that doors will be dangerous for him for the rest of his life.

I have no experience at all with them, but I have heard that this is common. It takes a while for your body and mind to accept the face eating machine but once you get it, it’s set in stone.

Dwaaaa! It’s sweetness like this that stops us from killing them all!

Oh, gosh, Ijsut what you don’t need. I hope it goes as well as it can.

I hope not, that would really bite.

That is good advice, thank you. I think I will look into it. I’m pretty sure that Hubs and GG wont’ burn the house down while I’m gone…

Today the town down the road had their yearly community Yard Sale so I headed off to see if I could find anything I couldn’t live without. I saw the most wonderful bowl that I really wanted but couldn’t think of a place for it because it was so big. I got Hubs a couple of homemade goodies and bought myself a smaller hand thrown clay bowl. When I got home I realized that I could put the big bowl on the pot shelf in the living room, but when I went back, it was gone.

It’s gotten blustery and cold, so I’m settling in for an afternoon of stitching backwards roses. I really want to get this piece done this year, I’m trying to not have projects long enough that I can see improvements in my technique between the beginning and the end cause that means I have to go back and rip out the not as perfect stuff so I can redo it with closer to perfect stuff.

Howdy. I have been busy today trying to emulate FCM. I cleaned all the A;C filters, dumped and washed and refilled the cat box, did three loads of laundry to include the bed clothes. Still gotta make the bed. Cleaned the cat room and mopped the floor, cleaned the kitchen…still a lot to do. I watered all the backyard this morning. I shall do the front near sundown.

I have three little baby tomato sprouts. I’m only gonna do around 6 black cherry tomatoes in pots. Sonny boys GF who is the farmer doesn’t think I can grow any at this time. We shall see.

They came over last night with steak from the good butcher shop. I just had leftovers. They always cook too much and cooked two filets just for me.

I’m just down for a nap on a blanket because the bed isn’t made. The mattress cover is still being laundered.

Boo glad you are getting the hang of the CPAP.

Shoe Monkey is quite the looker.

Taters feel better soon from the most sinus troubled person in the world.

Metalmouse my friend picked the cruise line, destination and suite. I’ve done Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Princess. The difference is not that much to me. We set sail for 5 nights on Jan 16. The temp on Grand Turk is 80 daytime and 70 at night so near perfect weather for Jan. We’ve started looking for a tour excursion. On all the cruises I’ve done there is always empty little nooks or deck areas to read. Lots of empty bar areas since there are so many and there is always the escape of the cabin. Not too peoply. I’m excited.

Ok. Back to my nap. Happy Saturday!

Holy crap it’s already past 6 pm so may be a little late for a nap. Guess I’ll make the bed, shower and find something to watch til darkish then just go to bed.

We’re baaaaaaaack!

We had a great day peeping at leaves, traipsing a couple of old cemeteries, hitting a couple of junk shops (got a box of note cards with envelopes that I’ll turn into greeting cards for .99 and a nice dish towel for .10) and made our annual pilgrimage to the Dutch Maid Bakery for lunch and a ginger cookie. I also picked up a loaf of pumpkin bread for the freezer to put on the Thanksgiving table. A good time was had by all.

Nelson was glad to see me when I got home and is settled in on my lap.

We went out for an early dinner at The Beach at Birch Bay (5 Star Dive Bar). They make really good steaks when they have them (otherwise they make really good burgers). 10-ounce New York strips with a dinner salad (or fries) for a double sawbuck each. With a couple of Manhattans and a $10 tip, we got out for $70 even. There was a live band, too. I ate all of my salad, and saved half of my (rare) steak for 2nd Dinner.

Thanks for the encouragement~it helps!

Any Mumper that has CPAP advice/wisdom for me, let it rip. I’ll make good use of it. I’m still in the dazed and confused stage.

JtC~I love big bowls too, especially hand thrown pottery ones. They seem like works of art to me. I promise you, though, I didn’t buy a bowl out from under you this weekend~I’m still in my jammies, among other reasons.

We had lots of electrical weirdness, bulbs burning out quickly, and shorts until an electrician with actual skills determined that an outet in the other room was arcing–no trouble since.

Many years ago I bought a couple of door stoppers at IKEA so the cats wouldn’t lock themselves in a room during the day. They’re this style:

We fled the smoke (better now that we’ve had some rain) and had a couple of nice days of breathing.

Howdy Y’all! Been a nice lazy day with a couple of spirts of productivity. I actually cooked on a Sattidy, which is a rarity. We bought some Brazil nuts last week. Brazil nuts are a healthy snack, so, of course, I had to fix that. They are now Brazil nuts coated in dark chawklit. I say they are still a healthy snack cause dark chawklit is full of antioxidants or some such healthy nonsense. Other than that, tackleball got semi-watched (no dawgs cause they had a bye week), sloth, nappage, and day-drinkin’ were also achieved.

Taters hope your sinuses are better soonest. I deal with that to, so I can sympathize and empathize.

Boo glad you had better sleep last night.

OK, I’s tahrd. World class slothin’ will take it out of ya!

Happy Saturday!

Y’all have been very chatty, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Cerby - haven’t changed his name yet - is a neurotic mess.

My son woke me at 3am yesterday morning to come get home.
I came downstairs to a big steamy pile of stink.
I debated going to the park, but we did. I should have had plenty of time to get ready to see the accountant.
Cerby growled at all the men at the park, he let Rocky mom pet him. When he wasn’t running up to the gate to leave, he hid under the table.
I drove past his office on the way home and thought YEA! plenty of parking spaces open so I won’t have to parallel park on a busy street. Then I saw the meters and thought shit! I don’t know if I have any quarters,
My son forgot to look before taking the dogs out of the truck, Echo saw a cat and she took off, pulling the leash right out of my son’s hand. We put Cerby and Ripple in the yard and went off to get Echo, but Cerby totally flipped out (have I mentioned that his cries could make your ears bleed), and I rushed back to him. Fortunately, Echo heard his screams and ran back to investigate.
When we got in, I gave Cerby his pills (Prozac and Trazodone) in a pill pocket. I saw him chew and swallow, and went to look for quarters. I saw Echo licking the floor where I had given Cerby his pill and she was licking up the pill pocket. The Prozac was missing, so I got on the phone with the vet to make sure she would be okay. By the time I got off the phone I had to scramble to find some quarters and rush out the door. I had wanted to change clothes and grab something to eat.
I was two minutes late to the accountant, but he wasn’t having a good morning either. Looked like his ceiling had leaked and he had people in to clean up.
The guy has a 5-star rating and great reviews, but he has to be in his mid-80s.
We’ll see.
I was so embarrassed when I got up to leave, I left a pile of wet leaf pieces and twigs where my feet had been.

Cerby met Adam.
Adam hissed and Cerby ran, but Adam is afraid of Cerby and won’t come inside. My son has been running up and down the stairs to let him in and out the basement door.
My son is not happy, he wants them to come get Cerby NOW!

More Chaos. Maybe I should change his name to Chaos.
Echo won’t let him come upstairs, and if he does sneak up, she won’t let him get on the bed.
She jumped him tonight when I gave him his pill, she is a being a little bitch. I know she has to get a treat first. Ripple won’t even take a treat until after Echo does. If I give Cerby a treat though, she will drop hers and rush him to steal his. He is nervous and clings to me, he needs constant reassurance. Now Ripple, who is usually chill, is clinging to me demanding attention, and of course if Echo sees it, she wants attention too. I have only two hands.

Cerby was better at the park this morning. We usually leave at 8, but he decided he wanted to play after hiding under the table for an hour. He initiated play with several dogs and had a great time.
I hope this works for him. He still growls at the men, but will let the women pet him a little.
I think he might be better off in a home where he is the only pet though. He is very needy.
I’m not used to that, shar pei are confident, independent dogs who don’t want or need a lot of attention.

And of all people, Barky mom is giving me shit for taking three dogs into the park when the limit is two. If need be, my son can sit in the park instead of waiting in the truck. She is pissing me off though.

My son was pissed at me tonight.
We are still having a plumbing issue when emptying the tub. I have to let a little water out, wait for a bit, let a little more out, wait… until the tub is empty. My son will yell up the stairs to tell me to stop draining when he hears the toilet downstairs gurgle. I misunderstood him tonight and let the tub drain, he had gone into the basement to see what was happening. He got sprayed with water, and he was soaking wet, and furious.
I ordered some lava cakes with the pizza to make up for it.

OMG, both of you deserve many MANY lava cakes for the day you had. Poor lil Chaos is confused and scared and doesn’t know what to do so he is acting out. We had to rehome a very nice to people cat because he needed to be an only cat. Our cats were happier and he was happier.

If you had, I would have congratulated you on your find. I was the one who walked away, once again I am reminded that if you snooze, you looze. I love bowls, they are such a quiet and elegant tool. My favorites are little ones I can hold in the palm of my hand, but big bowls also have their place. The bowl I lost was big enough to hold mashed potatoes for 40, and was gorgeous inside and out.

I also can’t walk away from a display of hand thrown clay bowls and pots empty-handed, especially if they were made by a local artist. If you give me your address I’d be happy to share a couple with you. I’ve pretty much stopped collecting because of lack of room, if I cleared out some shelf space by sending bowls to you, I could support more local artisans by buying bowls to fill the space.

Hmmm…I wonder if anyone noticed that I have a thing for bowls…

Tonight I had salmon for dinner and hubs had pulled pork. Hubs hates salmon but he will cook it for me once in a while. Grumpy Old Cat loves salmon. He really REALLY loves salmon. He started demanding his tribute before it was half cooked and started rattling the bars on his baby gate when it came out of the oven. This always frightens GG so he is now afraid of salmon and hides under the back bed out of fear that GOC will come out of his compound and whup up on him again.

Lucky for you, I haven’t done any bowl-throwing for a few years, plus my kiln needs a new exhaust stack. In years gone by, I was giving away my pottery to Mumpers who would pay the postage, but alas, it’s all gone… well, except for some crappy pieces that no one will ever receive. I hope to get back to claying some day…

Yesterday’s forecast of 80% chance of rain for today has become 51% chance at 8 this morning. Still, I’m glad I tended to the leaves yesterday. I also rotissed a chicken for the inlaws, then hacked it up and bagged it for them. Today, I plan to bake 10# of russets and turn them into the first phase of twice-baked spuds. They freeze beautifully and make a good side or meal, depending on the size. I’ll be sharing them with the inlaws, too.

I need to empty the dishwasher - I kinda blew that off yesterday, so there are enough dirty dishes to half fill it again. I should run a damp mop over the kitchen floor - we’ll see how motivated I get later. I woke at 3, tried to fall back to sleep unsuccessfully, so at 6, I’ve tended the critters, breakfasted, and am nearly done with caffeination. Gonna be an interesting day.

But in theory, it’ll just be me and my sweetie - he doesn’t plan to see his folks till tomorrow. Especially his brother.

On Firday, they finally got their mailbox key from the post office. BIL went and tried it on the box with their apt number, and claimed it didn’t work. FCD had a hunch and tried another box, and it was correct - when it opened, he saw their name inside. All the buildings will have an apt 101 and 201, etc, so it makes sense that the boxes wouldn’t correspond. But that wasn’t good enough for BIL. He ranted about how stupid it was and how their box should be their apt number - it’s part of his mental issues. FCD can’t deal with it, and he just left and came home after that episode. And that’s why I asked that he make sure there are alternate guardianship arrangements for BIL should I be widowed. I do not want to be responsible for a geriatric man-child. [/end rant]

Anyway, happy Sunday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 40 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 78 and N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization (I have Chalice duty) followed by a N.O.L. of leftovers from last night’s sup. The rest of the day shall be spent in sloth, nappage, and general overall uselessness.

sari here’s hopin Cerby can settle in or that you find him a good home, whichever works out for the best.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Poor Cerby / Turbo / Chaos! I hope that things calm down once he gets settled in sari. My sister, who has done an informal small dog rescue for a lot of years, has had to rehome a couple of dogs who were better suited to being in a 1 or 2 dog household (Nelson’s grandmother was one of those dogs. ).

That’s a good idea about alternate arrangements for BIL should FCD be unable to be his guardian Moooooom. Hugs to you and FCD for all that you do for your family.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP and Sunday chores. Not a whole lot else is shaking today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. It’s a relatively warm 50 degrees at the moment. It’s cleaning and a day of awful handegg.

sari, hope you can get Cerby calmed down. Or in a better place.

{{{{FairyChats}}}}

Morning all. 57F heading for 78 later with no rain in the forecast. Paper retrieved and pill taken, so that has been accomplished. Trying to decide if I’ll (1) Go to the gym in the morning and eat out this afternoon) or (2) Eat out early and go to the gym this afternoon. Probably decide on (3). Eat out and forget about the gym. Logan’s Roadhouse Meatloaf is on the list for today. I always throw a few curves at the order and they’ve never gotten it wrong (probably just jinxed myself).

Sari, hope if works out with the dogs or you can find a good place for Cerby; he’s been though a lot recently (you can sympathize, I’m sure).

FCM, hope FCD has a slothful day; sounds like you’ve both earned it.

OK, need to watch a couple of my You Tube channels that update on Sundays and be about the day. All y’all have a good Sunday.

:notes: I … like … big … bowls and I cannot lie … :notes:

(Sorry. Pothead joke. Couldn’t resist.)

It was funny and we all could use some laughs or at least I can. Thanks.

Plus it taught me to proofread really really carefully when I type things like ‘I love big bowls’. Just two characters of misbegotten autocorrect and I’d be very chagrined. I will leave which two characters to your imagination since I seemed to have escaped with my decorum intact this time.

It’s a balmy 70+ outside today with a warmish breeze. We took a short stroll to a nearby park and sat on a bench watching small children playing. There was also a group practicing Kendo. I was tempted to barge in with my walking stick, but didn’t want to embarrass them.

It’s interesting (and not a little frustrating) that in Mipples almost nobody stops for pedestrians. They usually will if there is a crosswalk, but otherwise you take your life in your hands. We got spoiled in Portland where almost everybody yields to pedestrians, no matter where they are crossing. There is a “one foot off the curb” law there and people observe it pretty religiously.
