Grimm Season 2

Apparently a lot of people had the DVR problem.

I saw that Russell Hornsby (Hank) had an Achilles tendon injury. Apparently they had to do some scramble re-writing. The promo pics for 2.20 show him back from Hawaii on crutches.

No, I didn’t get anything recorded in that time slot last week, either.

On Demand has it, under the former title (“Ring of Fire”). Not sure if it’s NBC or Comcast who’s confused, but as long as I get to see the episode, I’ll be content.

Ah, that would explain why the episode begins with him in his chair, then everybody in the office surrounds him, tells him he’s supposed to be on vacation, and rolls him out of the office.

This is why I do my DVR recordings manually, instead of relying on Comcast to not f things up.

If I did my DVD recordings manually I’d fuck up a lot more than Comcast does. Hell, I’ve been lazy about setting Orphan Black on a series recording and have already missed two and had to rely on On Demand.

God, they’re still dragging out the Juliette thing. Looks like the end may finally be in sight, though who knows what will ultimately happen. They’ve set it up where she could get back with Nick, or she could decide to leave. I liked the character last season and would rather she stick around, but I’m becoming indifferent.

I’m glad we got the update on Adalind. Not surprisingly, she’s trying to get her powers back. I like the actress playing the gypsy woman–she’s been in a lot of stuff. Shohreh Aghdashloo - IMDb
Looks like Nora Zehetner (Heroes, Everwood, Brick) guest stars in this week’s episode. (Tuesday night–check your DVR!)
The previews show

Nick kissing her. I wonder if he’s under the influence of whatever powers she has, assuming she’s Wesen?

The Volcanalis creature was pretty interesting and a really well-done special effect. I’m curious if they can actually be classified as “evil”, or for that matter as “Wesen”. They seem to be nothing like humanity at all - even the nastier Wesen are fleshy creatures. This guy actually seems to be made of walking volcanic glass on fire.

I’m also uncertain if it was malicious. Violent, yes, and driven by principles we don’t understand, but it didn’t seem to go out of its way to hurt people unless they took its volcanic stones. In fact, it wouldn’t even appear unless you did so. It seemed there was no way to even communicate with one. It’s possible they simply live in the extreme heat and pressure of the earth naturally, and have no desire to come up top, although why the volcanic stones’ theft pissed him off so much is anybody’s guess. Presumably there aren’t a lot of these guys, though, and/or they only come near the surface at rare events.

To me she’ll always be Behrouz’s mom from 24.

Actually next week–that promo had scenes from the next three episodes.

Reminder for the DVRless among us – tonight is the first of the Tuesday night run.

Caught tonight’s show almost by accident. I love the idea of:

a dorky alien hunter (area 51 anyone) being a vessen who is actually on the hunt

Sadly, they’re obviously setting things up for her to finally want him back, going to tell him, and then to walk in on him and some other woman at a key moment sending the relationship off into another cliched cul de sac.

Please let it be that they’re being so obvious in the set up that they’ll do something else.

I was just amazed that she bothered to acknowledge anyone else having any feelings in any of this. I honestly was surprised when she mentioned Nick’s heartache, since she’s normally so totally self-absorbed I thought that if she even noticed he was unhappy, she’d be pleased by it (since she’s so hostile toward him, like this mess is 100% HIS fault).

From her point of view up until the memories came back, it kind of was. Some guy she doesn’t know at all is clinging to her saying “love me, love me, love me like I love you here have some space but do you love me yet?” and then slowly it becomes apparent that because of him something was done to her to cause all of this and then claiming it is an attempt to fix it all they do something else and immediately everything gets even weirder. Oh, and as things proceed it becomes clear that almost everybody around her: Nick, Monroe, the Captain, know what happened to her but won’t tell her.

I’m amazed she let him stick around as long as she did.

Yeah, letting him stay in his own home is just SO generous of her.

I’d be a bit more sympathetic if that flashback to when they moved in together hadn’t shown her to be selfish and manipulative and uncaring even back then (and she hadn’t grown up much by the first season of the show, either). Emotional manipulation to force him to give up a lamp he liked, when a caring adult would have been willing to work out a compromise over such a small thing? Isn’t she just a saint?

Your threshold for defining someone as a horrible person is apparently much lower than mine. But if she’s a horrible person for that, Nick is much, much worse based on how he’s treated her over the last season and a half since he knows what the hell is happening to her and refuses to tell her and instead just lets her wander around terrified and confused.

He was on the verge of telling her before the memory loss.

As for why he decided to keep it a secret afterwards… I know I wouldn’t, but maybe he figures that since she already has the targeted amnesia why give her information that almost drove Hank insane.

Yes, I’m not saying he is a bad person. Just that with a standard by which she is a horribly self centered person because she ridiculed and aux manipulated him into giving up an ugly clock (or whatever it is) then he is a much worse person.

Yeah, that whole “protect her from people who want him dead and information that’ll probably drive her nuts” bit is SO evil and awful. So is his not finding out important information about her situation any sooner than she does (and some details she gets first). After all, a good guy is all-knowing and info-dumps more on someone he loves than is safe for her physical or mental health, right? :eyeroll:

Sorry, but you aren’t going to convince me that Nick is a horrible selfish evil jerk or that poor widdle Juliette is a saintly abused martyr.

Looks like they’re going to use the Twue Wuv’s Kiss thing to set up the next story. It’ll be interesting to see what form it takes.

What are the odds that due to the mechanics of the whole memory curse thing, Nick will have to kiss the Captain before he can kiss his girlfriend?
