I put a dash of cloves in my sketty sauce. It works very well with the tomato, brings out the flavors more. Just a pinch, though–cloves get overpowering very quickly.
With my BILs, they’re more likely to name a child “Demon Deacon.”

Spaz I know one irl person who is a graduate of Wake Forrest. Gotta give WF credit for havin’ one of the most original, funny and sorta skeery mascots out there. Just weird. He is the only person I have ever known who went there, so in my experience there is exactly one graduate of Wake Forrest in the world.

I am at irk, and it is irksome. That’s about all I have to say for today. I am bored, got stuff to do that I don’t want to do because it’s not interesting, thus today is dragging quite a bit. It’s still 3hrs and 8mins until hometime…
I’m off today, but am up already. Have NASA TV open in another tab and am periodically checking on the progress toward the last shuttle launch. Astronauts are at the launch pad, finishing prep to get on board. It’s cool to watch, but sad that it’s the last one. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
Should find some breakfast.

Howdy from irk y’all! I am goin’ through some paperirk and answerin’ the phones as it’s Firday and I get to take a turn doin’ that. Lucky me. So far the phone has been relatively quiet so there’s that.

Yesterday I discovered that I had lost a blank check that Dad gave me to pay for his prescriptions. It wasn’t signed, but damn, that was stupid. (I’m on the account, too, which is how I can use his checks.) So this morning I have to get on the phone and put a stop payment on it. Grr.

Home at last! What a long 4-day week this was! And I have to leave in half an hour to go with daughter to her lawyer’s office and swear that almost-ex-SIL hasn’t lived here in more than a year so she can get her deevorce. I forgot about it, but luckily, I’d written it on my blotter calender at work, plus daughter called this morning to remind me. I set a timer so’s I wouldn’t be late.
It’s grey and overcast and, as **BBBobbio **said, we’re under a flash flood watch. At least the county is. Our house is on a hill, so if we get flooded, it’s pretty serious stuff.
I’ve got some Amish corn to steam for supper - I should probably make sides to go with it.

Home from irk a little early cause I said I’d go help out at a health fair tomorrow mornin’ for a couple hours. Dindin shall be hamburger steak and gravy, rice, butter beans, steamed carrots and bizkits cause that’s what I want.
Coffee should be taken black. Always. Of course a shot of whiskey sometimes helps.

Nice quiet day. I’ve done some laundry, mended a few items, watched NASA TV, and obtained a new garbage disposal and dishwasher connector (turns out the water that asploded into the kitchen the other day was because the connector on the disposal was corroded. I’ve gotten a fancy new quiet disposal that sounds like it’ll last for quite a while. So, yes, I live an exciting life!
Tired. Should figure out dinner.

We tried out a new (to us) place for supper. I got steamed crabs. They were the best I’ve had since moving here. I is stuffded! We will definitely go back there again.
It’s raining, and our kitchen solar tube is leaking again. ugh. We really need to replace it with a better one. Time to make some calls.
