On Long Island checking out towns. Broke a tooth.
Nice dentist did a temp thing, but I need a crown. I am terrified of the dentist and am quietly freaking out.

Work is over. Ended up filling in for someone whose job I’m not technically trained to do, and accidentally got her work caught up. From last weekend. Seriously?
::grumble:: some people and their completely unsupervised jobs ::grumble::
I am fed and have watched approximately 2 hours of TV. I’d take a nap but then I’d feel lazy
Soapy! Sorry about the tooth, but why you no call me?
Still here. Still not puking. I’m pretty tired, but that’s normal.
Got to clean up everything, which is a pain because I already cleaned up everything. Surely I should have to do it twice in one day!
LiLi - You can come to my place to clean, if you want. I’ll give Gnat a pony ride!
Today I stopped at the thriftstore on my way home from work. I picked up a like-new looking Oster bread machine for $3.50. We’ll see if it works properly. I used to bake all my own bread by hand, but the thermostat in my oven is wonky. Also, a cordless dustbuster for $3.25.
StG
Sorry about your toof, Soapy. I am in serious need of root canals and crowns, but just can’t afford it. Luckily for me, the teeth that need the work are all in the back of my mouth.
I’m glad the end is in sight with regards to your daughter’s divorce, FCM.
Went to our Commander’s Town Hall today. Things are grim in many respects, especially with regards to money and hiring. He is not happy and was exhorting us all to pull together and bring up our revenue producing workload. The only people who produce “revenue” are the docs and certain other healthcare professionals.
Anyway, we’re in for some pretty austere times, I think. I wouldn’t want to be at the senior leadership meeting that’s supposed to start in about half an hour. Well, actually, I kind of would like to be a little fly on the wall, but I wouldn’t want to be a participant. The thing is, my office produces all the reports that show that while our staffing went up by quite a bit, our actual workload (patient visits, procedures, inpatient stays, etc) went down. Part of that has to do with improper coding, not coding the workload in the proper functional cost center, and a few other things; and part of it is that our workload has dropped and a lot of it was sent “downtown”. That costs money; lots of money.
We’ve been producing these reports week after week, sometimes on a daily basis, but now it’s an issue. It’s been an issue, and we kept telling people, but no one listened; until a one star noted it and now it’s an issue.
Hubby has called for pizza. It was entirely his own idea. Works for me; I don’t have to cook.
Here we are, all the way on July 8, Friday no less, and I’m finally posting from my own Internet connection! YAY!!
I am enjoying retirement - I’ve even been trying to exercise daily, walking in the pool but so far have missed a few days here and there. I am loving the weather in Albuquerque, believe it or not. The lower humidity is nice - even though it is very hot, if you’re in the shade it is comfortable. There is usually a breeze too. And it cools off considerably at night.
FCM, if you have any questions about retirement, feel free to PM me - so far, OPM is working on things. They send out interim payments now - I guess they had too many complaints about it taking too long and people not having any money to live on!! I’ve got to switch health plans, because Kaiser-Permanente doesn’t have a presence in NM (LOL - YAY, actually!).
I have really missed everyone on SDMB, and especially here at the MMP. It’s good to be back!
I’ve missed you too, Herbs, and I’m glad you’re enjoying retirement.
Welcome back, Herbs! I envy your retirement status. You can have some of our humidity if you want!
ReboSon is moving in with girlfriend. Which means the end of his apartment and roommate who never pays his share. (His lease is up at the end of the month.) Another good thing - he called to tell me to help him set up his car insurance payment at his address. We’ve been paying it for a long time because his finances have been shaky, and now he wants to take care of it! About time! My baby is grown up. Finally.
Herbs, made any left toins in Albuquoique yet?
BTW, there’s a picture floating around Facebook of one of your cousin’s ambulances decked out in pink, supposedly to support breast cancer. The consensus was nobody wanted to be seen near the thing.
Why doesn’t prostate cancer get the press coverage the ta-tas see? Sexists.
Good Mornin’ Y’all? Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 77 Amurrkin out and muggy! The predicted high is 95 and dependin’ on whom one might believe, anywhere from a 40 to 60 percent chance of tstorms. Well, so far, they ain’t been right so I don’t believe it.
BBBobbio just what color would an ambulance in support of prostate cancer be you reckon? I say candy apple red just cause I’d like to see a candy apple red ambulance.
Yay for intartoobz connection Herbs! Glad you’re back amongst us and enjoyin’ retirement. Maybe one day I’ll get to that point.
Yay for son takin’ over his car insurance Rebo!
Yay for not pukin’ LiLi!
Hope you find a suitable place Soapy. Ouchie on the toofie!
Yay for pizza and no cookin’ Taters!
Yay for whatever else goin’ on I need to yay about!
I need more caffiene and should feed rumbly tummy. Then I shall make myself presentable to go do the health fair thang later this mornin’. We decided yestiddy to do the “uniform” which consists of our white COA shirts and khakis. We dubbed that the “uniform” the day four people showed up at irk wearin’ it. We’re kinda strange down there at the ol’ COA.
Happy Sattidy Y’all!
ETA: First on Four!
Up, caffeinated, off to irk.
BBBobbio, I for one would rather see tatas than some dude’s prostate, but YMMV.
I’ll concede that point. Still, I’m quite fond of my prostate…
Good morning everyone. We might see a skootch above 70 degrees today, but it isn’t raining, so that’s good.
Bobbio, my local Safeway is doing something right now where you have the option of contributing money toward prostrate cancer when you pay for your groceries. It’s been going on for at least a month.
We’re supposed to go over to a friend’s house this evening for dinner and 99. They are trying hard to take our money. We’ve been on quite a roll today, but they’ve all been “threatening” us via email. I’m hoping our streak continues.
Nothing else too exciting going on here, same old stuff.
Whew - brief break to check in. I had a bad night - phone call at 11:30 (wrong number, of course), waking up at 3 to pee, Scruffy waking me at 5, and again a bit after 6… I’s tahred.
We started our day using the wet/dry vac to suck up the flood in the basement. I also figured out what caused it (a plugged drain) and took care of that. Then we went to breakfast. Upon return, we started tearing the basement apart. The bedroom walls and the kitchen half wall are de-sheetrocked, and we’re in the midst of taking down the studs. In fact, **FCD **is beating on them right now, so I’d better get to the basement to help. Before 4:30, we’ve got to get to the landfill and get rid of a trailerload of torn-up sheetrock. Hot, icky day for such a chore.
**tarra **- yay for getting re-connected. I may touch base with you about this retirement thing. Is your email in your profile?
back to work with me. MWAH!
Welcome back to the land of the connected, tarra!
Yay for ReboSon and independence!
How are things going today, LiLi?
I’ve been fairly busy: been to the farmers’ market for: eggs, cheese, sweet cherries, a chive plant, and sugar snap peas. Also, doing dishes (since dishwasher won’t be functional till Tuesday), mending, sorting through clothes and generally cleaning the kitchen.
After that there will be gardening and cleaning in the garage, I think.
Nephew should be showing up here this afternoon sometime, back from vacation with his mom.
Hope everyone is having a nice Saturday!
Hugs.
GT
Argued with TomKitten last night and won- he slept for at least part of the night. Got up and went to my first bellydance class in four years (yay!), came home to find TomKitten had been totally miserable to Mr. Lissar, took the kids out to a farewell block party, Hawaiian theme. I’ll get pic of TomKitten with a lei in his hair. Cute.
Put baby down for his nap and Mr. Lissar is with Gnat and a hundred people from our street, having fun.
Fly-by post to say we can’t do red for prostate. We’d have to think about the potential hanky code implications and that a bright red anything for prostate would just make me giggle.
::runs away to do work, more accurately, to pull out my yarn::
At the Public Market again, where my network connection comes and goes.
The soapbusiness has been very busy lately. I;m having trouble keeping up.
Mom, I’m afraid that about the time you get the basement fixed up, the girl will probably show up and want to be let back in.
Rosies sig to all.
**Bumba **- she already knows she’s not coming back. At most, she can crash in the guest room on a very short-term basis till she has someplace to live. We are cold and cruel that way.
I’m not even going to pretend I remember any of what I’ve read. So everybody take a hug and that’s that.
We just got back from the dump - first load of sheetrock is gone. **FCD **is crashed on the couch and I may take a nap after I’m done reading my comics. Supper tonight will be ham steak and Amish corn and whatever else I decide to make.
Oh yeah, and it’s HOT and humid out there. ugh. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
