Happy Fourth of July - an Independent MMP

Busy day so far! I have only gotten two rounds done on each sock, which is highly unacceptable. At this gauge, that’s about 1/5 of an inch. ::cry::

Contemplating dinner - lunch break is around 6:45, and then I go home at 8:45. Why bother? Why not just leave early? My week of filling in for weird shifts is almost over.

Howdy Y’all! Got home from the health fair around one and took a nap. It has actually rained a lot and may rain some more. YAY!!!

We had an early dindin of grilled poke tenderloin, corn on the cob and cukes, maters, onions and bell peppers marinated in Eyetalian dressin’. 'Twas teh nummy! Now it’s chill time.

Come on more rain!

Supper has been ingested and dishes are rinsed. I’m going to shower and veg. I’s tahred!!!

Nice, relaxatin’ evenin’ at chez swamp. We’re watchin’ BritComs on PBS. It’s even less humid out!

Mowed the yahd, did some other annoying stuff, went for a run, and I’m about to watch An American Werewolf in Paris.

I foresee a very early morning with squid involved when I get up tomorrow…

I have caught and squished two flies today. Ordinary flies that are normally faster than most human movements - I caught two. weird.

Rosie has a new superpower…

Up, caffeianted, off to irk.

I’m ready to live in an animal-free household. Not only did the idiot dog start barking just after 5, but when I got back into bed and the little kitteh came in for skritches, Taz expressed his opinion by peeing on the clothes at the foot of the bed! So I’ve got a load of clothes in the washer right now. Damned cat.

I think we’re going down to the boat this morning for a bit. Saturday is FCD’s company picnic and it’s being held really close to our marina. So he’s planning to take people out on the boat for short rides, thereby giving himself an excuse not to drink beer and play softball, since he does neither. Which means we need to tidy up the boat a bit.

And depending upon how ripe the peaches are, I may make the peach preserves later today.

Sorry to rub your noses in it, I keep forgetting how you all envy my amazing life…

And now, some caffeine. Happy Sunday!

Morning, all!

Welcome back, herbs - good to see you back again and I’m pleased to hear that retirement is turning out so well for you. Not that I’m in the least bit jealous…

Nothing exciting going on here, it was lovely and sunny yesterday so I was out all day in town shopping with a friend, and there were cocktails involved so that was a pretty good day out. She stocked up on new clothes for work but I didn’t find anything much that I liked so am no worse off than before.

Today I am not sure what I’m going to do. Might go out for a while, or maybe not. It’s sunny with a bit of cloud so I might go and do some work out in the garden for a while, or since the city show is happening at the park round the corner, I might go there instead. Decisions, decisions…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 80 degrees Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 93 and a promise of tstorms throughout the day. It just might actually be with it bein’ so warm this early in the day. I think I hear thunder rumbles way off in the distance even.

That’s all I got for now. Need more caffiene and some brekkie type substance. Or maybe I’ll just convince OYKW we need to purtify for deheathenization so he can take me out to brekkie. I’m all generous like to allow him that pleasure.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

:grumble:

The only bites I had this morning were from the sandflies. I look like a well used pincushion from the knees down. The crabs were active in stealing my squid, too. Next week I’ll have some bug repellant in my tackle box.

On the plus side, I got to watch the sun come up over the Chesapeake Bay, and the ospreys nesting on the pilings just offshore were kewl to watch, too. Daddy osprey had much better like than me finding fish.

I ended up going back to bed for a bit, and **FCD **and I got up around 9. We tried the breakfast buffet at Lenny’s - a bit pricey, but better than your usual buffet, so we’ll go occasionally. Then we went by WalMart and Lowe’s, and now we’re home. No boat work today - my sweetie’s back is really bothering him.

The basement is dry - all those fans and dehumidifiers worked. Yay!

We’re making water and mixing salt into it for a water change this afternoon. Other than that, it should be a nice, quiet day. I foresee a lot of watching of *Weeds *- have I mentioned that I love Netflix??

Whee! Always remember to look at the FAQ before you make changes in your email address. LOL

FCM, the email address in my profile is current NOW. LOL Even in retirement, I still find that I need to practice what Mr. Costanza called “Serenity Now!” I get frustrated very easily, unfortunately. :frowning:

Thanks for all the prayers, thoughts and well wishes. I am enjoying the retirement. Today, I am trying to find the closest senior center and looking at all the activities for folks 50 plus. OMG, there is a lot available, believe it or not!

Still doing the water walking too. Last night, I made spinach lasagna, and it turned out pretty decent. Today, we’re having barbecued ribs, which are already in the oven, cooking slow and low.

Have a great Sunday all! It’s definitely good to be back online.

This morning I got up and decided to do the NYT crossword in the Mountain Express. I got stuck about a third of the way through (it’s been about ten years since I did a crossword), so I got last week’s Express and did that puzzle. I got about two thirds of the way through that one before I had to grab this week’s issue to check answers. It felt good to word-nerd again. I’m going to have to get a new pencil sharpener to keep up with my new habit.

Fun day planned of uploading my resume to various job sites, doing laundry, and dragging Culinary Boy out of the house to do the Urban Trail. I wanted to go to Shindig on the Green last night, but Irish Brother was MIA and Culinary Boy had a beer by the time I got home and didn’t want to go. Both of my favorite guys currently suck and owe me a shindig. Only one knows about this, but the other will soon be informed.

Howdy Y’all! Home from deheathenization and about to make a sammich for N.O.L.. Looks like it just might storm in a bit too. My sinuses are botherin’ me so maybe that’s a sign. Or not.

After I eat I’m thinkin’ it’ll be Benadryl [sup]TM[/sup] and nappy poo time.

Later I shall regale y’all with a tale of how I’m possibly a semi-awful person. Or not. Teaser… it involves bail money.

I know - **swampy **spent someone’s bail money on BBQ and beer… right??

::sits patiently for swampy’s story::

At work. Having problems with concentration. The SDMB probably isn’t helping.

(oops, pneumatic tube mixup. Everything’s an emergency.

Damn! I just can’t win. It looks like I need to take Polar to the vet tomorrow. This morning I barely, and I mean barely touched Polar’s tail and he yelped.

After that, I started watching him and I’m noticing that he’s walking with it down. He usually holds it up high and proud. He’s also just lying around and when he goes to sit down he does it very, very gingerly.

I tried to take a look, but he yelped again, so I’ve given him a tranadol and am waiting for it to kick in, so I can really look. The problem is that he has so much fur on it and I can’t see anything, so I really need to get in there and part it. I checked his back, hips and legs and none of that is bothering him. It’s most definitely the tail. I’m wondering if he did get bitten by that 'possum and we just didn’t see it. :frowning:

I’ve taken this dog to the vet more in the last year, then I took Cappy in the last five or six years.

You stole someone’s bail stash to buy beer?
