Happy, Merry MMP

Well, back to irk. Fortunately it’s not the first of the month, as I have things that need to get done before the datalanche.

I picked up my Sub on Friday. Rolex were being butts (big surprise) and wouldn’t overhaul it because they said the clasp was bad on the bracelet. (It’s not.) So I took the bracelet off and sent it back. They were happy to overhaul it then. Today I put the bracelet back on. I didn’t remember putting the pins back in the watch when I sent it in… and I didn’t. The original pins were still in the bracelet. They put in new pins. I took them out, and put them in a little zip-top pouch with the 600-foot depth anchor. (Newer Subs are good down to 1,000 feet.) I have an original, though not original to this watch, green leatherette Rolex clamshell box. I put the anchor and pins into it so I don’t lose them. I had a link removed from my GMT II when I lost a lot of weight. It’s in a little zip-top pouch, and I put it into the case and box that are original to that watch.

And I finally found out that the Sub was manufactured in 1978. I’d been guessing 1979, but I was able to look up the date with the serial number.

flyboy do you do any diving?

Tomorrow is my birthday. I am excited. I don’t really have anything planned, but I have acquired cookies. They are MINE and I will only share them with those who please me. Which, honestly, is pretty much everyone.

Happy Monday!

Not anymore. The water is a mite cooler up here than it is in SoCal. Nowadays I use my tank to inflate the tires on the cars. :stuck_out_tongue:

These are my cookies. There are many like them, but these cookies are mine. They are my best friends. They are my life.

Yep, agreed. This is my basic holiday mantra.

The only thing that can be said for the Shingrix shot is that it’s not as hideously painful and long-lasting as shingles. It was making myself go back for the second one that was hard for me. I was late but I finally did it.
*

That’s going to be a problem with me, too. I just know it. But the bout of shingles was much more painful and long-lasting. When the time comes I’ll just have to hitch up my big-boy pants and get poked again. Other arm this time.

Happy Monday back ! And :notes::musical_note::tada::partying_face::confetti_ball:early :cupcake:happy :birthday:birthday :cake::partying_face::tada::musical_note::notes: to you!!

Strange doin’s in the building. Someone moved out, but who? Saw the U-Haul but didn’t recognize anyone hauling stuff out. The guys upstairs have been rearranging furniture/car engines/dead bodies all day. And this morning I realized I haven’t heard the Dog Next Door for weeks. This is the sweet boy who had separation anxiety and howled. And when I say I haven’t heard him, I mean not a bark, the jingle of his leash and color when he got to go walkies, nada. I hope they didn’t get rid of him. :worried:

Kwanzaa, anyone?

sari, you got me reminiscing. I didn’t get my kids gift cards, but what did I get them? I remember getting a CD for my son. I asked the puzzled store clerks–both former students–for a CD called No Doubt. “I think it’s by Magic Kingdom,” I offered helpfully. The fog finally cleared. “Ohhhh. You mean the album Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt!” I told them to just point my walker to the Polident department. Daughter got lava lamps (My little hippie LOVED lava lamps.) and boho decor for her room. The rest is a big blur.

What’s wrong with me? The shingles shots didn’t hurt much more than other vaccinations. And I’m not tough or anything. I hope I really GOT the shingles shot. Maybe they thought I said “Jingles shot” and injected me with Christmas spirit or cocoa.

Hah! .02% of a casino, so maybe a fraction of a slot machine: cherries and half a banana, and you win!

Well shopping is done, I think.
I have four more small presents to buy, but they are optional, not required gifts.
I had everything shipped to my mother’s, but all separately in the recipients’ names. I’ll bet da jungle loves that. I got the four boys gift cards, but also a big box of snacks.
I spent way too much money.

I don’t even know if there was such a thing as gift cards when I was a teen.
I’m pretty sure there weren’t, but I may have gotten a few hand written gift certificates.
I remember one year I got a stereo, and three of my friends got the same one. They were either on sale, or could be purchased with S&H Green Stamps.
S&H Green Stamps is why everybody I knew had the same clock hanging in their kitchen.
I would get ‘check books’ for Christmas, but that was a little book with money in it. The bills were bound with glue and you could just pull them out.
Never had a lava lamp, but I had black lights with black light posters.

Howdy Y’all! I did the thing for OYKW and went and picked up ‘scripts. I got a text remindin’ me that refills were due whilst waitin’ at the dealership, so I texted back to the pharmacy and the 'scripts were ready when I left the dealership. The pharmacy was nearby as is a MickeyD’s, so I got my 'scripts and some snausage bizkits to take back to da cave. After that flurry of activity, I entered sloth mode.

talky dealin’ with sick/agin’ 'rents is not for the faint of heart. Hang in there!

Everyone goin’ back to irk after a long holiday, well, better thee than me.

I am 1/8 Cherokee. Does that mean I could own 1/8 of a casino?

Happy Chrismakwanzasolstikah to all!

cookie, I show up as 12.5% Ashkenazi Jew from my Polish great grandfather and 3% Cherokee from Mom’s side. We could be related. :stuck_out_tongue:

Irked, submitted my PTO for the Christmas holidays and now must go online to find a hotel room around Little Rock for Nelson and me both going and coming home from Texas.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Consider yourself to be lucky! The shingles shot kicked my butt worse than my second Spikevax jab. I couldn’t stitch for over a day, it was horrible. I’m planning to celebrate my birthday by getting my second shingles shot. Go me!

I picked up my needlework from the framer and I am thrilled.

Imgur

I think he did a wonderful job. There is no sagging and if you look close, you can see one canvas thread straight against the mat. I was a little concerned when he asked for 2 extra rows because that’s usually a sign of a framer who doesn’t know how to do needlework but I can see that my concerns were without merit. I’m all happy and stuff.

I’m also a week away from being finished with my house, so that means we will have to go back to Verde and have lunch again!

Unknown that looks beautiful! Good job.

He did. It’s lovely!

I’m babysitting. I read Roxy four (little) books and tucked her in. Toby is sleeping… For now… So I’m chillin’ by the light of the Christmas tree and the aquarium.

You did a nice job, as did the framer unknown.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Doing Midnight double shift starting tonight.

Ewwww. That’s worse than working Hazmat.

Nice frame.

After 20+ years of doing genealogy research, I can say with absolute confidence that we are ALL related. It’s just a matter of degree.

I made shrimp & grits for dinner. Tried not to eat too many carbs.

Thanks everyone. I had good and patient teachers.

It’s so hard to find a framer who understands how to handle fabric. Anyone can throw a nice, flat print in a frame, it takes skill to do a proper job on saggy, uneven cloth. I’m going to be handing his cards out to all of my stitchy friends in the state.

Tomorrow I need to call the needlework place in Phoenix and have them send me the threads for my next project. All I need is DMC thread which is easy to come by at any Hobby Lobby or JoAnne’s, but I am so not going into that sort of arts and craft store this close to Christmas. I made that mistake once and it will never happen again.

Besides, I really like that small, locally owned needlework place so try to order all of my supplies there.

One of my sisters started looking into our family tree and learned that we had an ancestor who was hanged for being a unsuccessful horse thief. She got all upset and thought it was shameful. I thought it was typical of our family and pretty funny, but I’m warped.
