Been one of Those Days, really. Hardly Hell Week, more Heck Day, the irritating Bowdlerised version. The sort of day where I got up and went to make toast and sammiches for irk, then realised the bread was greener than it should be. Irk d…r…a…g…g…e…d. I think I spent at least an hour walking across the site going back to get something I’d just gone to pick up and forgotten. Things mutated into other things on the walk, and vanished, giggling, just when I needed them. Oh, and I was working with the resident dippy hippy who was trying to persuade me that all illness is due to attitude and food allergies are entirely in people’s head, caused by stressful memories. There ain’t enough  in the world to work with her sometimes.
I’m trying to organise a beekeeping taster day for the students- it’s on Monday. I’ve just spent 3 days messaging various beekeepers, trying to borrow an XXL suit for an XXL classmate; finally found one, and he’s cancelled and no longer coming.
At least I’ve pretty much got what I needed to do done, eventually, and I’m off tomorrow. I do have some home-irk I can be getting on with, but it’s neither urgent nor especially complicated.
Sore. Refereed at 8:30, coached at 10, 12 and 1:30 at three different fields, walked quite a bit between the fields and my car (between soccer and baseball the parking lots were overflowing). My legs do not wnat me to move them anymore. Nappage is very probable.
Nut, I have an XXL suit you can borrow, however it is 5,000 mile away so unless somebody invents warp travel in the next 5 hours, I’m afraid I can’t help.
LA John, we await news of the Great Erection with anticipation.
wetone, your weather is weirder than Ali-bama, and that is saying something. Stay warm.
Everyb ody else, take care (don’t get blown over by the wind, Sari.
Good job Johnny! May your erection bring you much enjoyment.
I got my flowers transplanted this afternoon. I went with zinnias and mairgolds in oranges and yellows and some petunias in a beautiful deep purple. I need to go out after KP to put the patio umbrella down and leave the water jug out to warm up. For now, I’m streaming a biography on Mae West.
I took my Mauser to the dog park today and we had a good time. Mauser watched for squirrels, and ran the fence to aggravate the big dogs on the other side. Then I took him to the vet, because I noticed the inside of his ears was red. Turns out he has an infection and I will have to give him meds twice a day. It will not be hard, he stands still for almost anything.
Went to a meeting at church concerning the selection of a new dean for the cathedral. Some people do not seem to understand they will not find a perfect candidate, who can be all things to all people, and have talent in every area. I also noticed that when most people referenced whomever the candidate would be they said ***he. *** I think since the interim dean is female, the new bishop is female, and one of our two deacons is female, there is a bit of a push back in thinking the congregation is being run by women.
My cat Atilla will turn 13 on Tuesday. He is the only pet I have ever had that I knew the exact birthday for. Atilla was born as the offspring of a feral mother. Myself and the neighbor across the alley helped take care of her, leaving out food and we made nests for her on our back porches. So she had a safe place to have her kittens. Atilla is old but most people would think he is younger, as he still seems to be strong and healthy. I dread the day I notice he is starting to fail.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 52 Amurrkin out and clear (well, dark) with a predicted high of 85 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. I have Luterun ush duty this mornin’. Sometimes I do ush or non-cannibal Lector for that service. Plus, I have made it a habit to attend the Luterun service at least once a month whether I serve or not just to see all my friends there. Anywho, we shall be Luteruns and then do brunch at that paragon of fine dinin’ known as Three Squares Diner, bein’ the gourmands that we are. Any other need to feed today shall be via forage.
Nuts should one really taste bees?
Flyboy may your erection hold up for years.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Well, quite; other minor issues are that the guy who needed it is no longer coming, and I mean a beekeeping suit, not formal wear
Had a proper student lie-in this morning, didn’t wake up til nearly 11. I think I must have needed it though; been having a bad eczema flare-up the last few weeks, which has been waking me up multiple times a night and making it very hard to get back to sleep.
Tis drizzly and grey, so not a bad day for a session of slobbage.
For reasons unknown, I kept waking - at least 4 times last night. Can’t blame Roxy - she spent the night at her other grandmother’s. I don’t recall any dreams, but it could have been that. Who knows?
Anyway, I got up at 6, loaded and ran the dishwasher, cleaned Taz hork off the carpet (after Higgs snarfed up the big pieces… ) then I cleaned the critter fountain and made my breakfast. Yeah, I know, I should have made breakfast before doing the dishes. DUH!
SIL set up a portable basketball hoop thingie in the driveway. I really and truly hate those things, but I’m going to be a good sport, because I’m nice, dammit! I think they look really tacky in front of a house, but there’s no other place it can be set up here, and it’s just a personal preference. I can deal. Still, tacky!!!
There’s a car and motorcycle show on the square in Leonardtown today that **FCD **wants to go see. I’m going to work in the yard for a few hours this morning, then I’ll get cleaned up and we’ll head over there. This county has lots of car enthusiasts - restoring really cool old cars, so it’s fun to look at those. What I don’t understand are the guys who bring new cars - like from the last 5 years or so. Yeah, yeah, you have a new Corvette. Sorry about your wee-wee. (I know, bad joke.)
It’s raining, so I’m glad the wind died down a bit yesterday and we got the back yard whacked.
My son decided he wants to clear off the patio, which is buried under about an inch of dirt. It’s brick and uneven, so I think it won’t be very useful. There used to be a tree in the middle of it, I’m thinking about putting a butterfly bush in there. It’s not a priority though.
I slept horribly last night, I think I woke up every hour.
Weird dreams too, I dreamed I was pregnant, and something about using pine sol and alcohol to clean the nurses’ station. Why I was cleaning the nurses’ station? Another time I was cleaning rice, and Adam’s head was bouncing around in the rice and I thought that a cat’s head bouncing around in the rice is not going to get the rice very clean. Then my son was in shackles and we got the shackles off, but he had hooks in his knees and feet where the shackles had been attached and he wouldn’t let me pull them out because it hurt.
None of these situations upset me in the least, which is even weirder than the dreams themselves.
Looks like we’re not going to the auto show after all, unless I can convince **FCD **to take a little break and go walk around there. The man works 7 days a week and he’s making me crazy!!
Meanwhile, I’ve planted 4 butterfly bushes (2 purple, 2 white) and 3 dozen white vinca in front of the building (pics on FB.) Tomorrow, I’ll move some liriope from several hidden spots to edge the driveway of the building. I may move some hosta also. And I need to get mulch for these new plantings.
Meanwhile, I need to shower, then I think I’ll do a little afghaning.
(Given that he was born a strawberry blonde puppy in Houston, I named hime for my favorite Texas redhead who wasn’t family).
Up, breakfasted, caffeinating and chilling with said dog in my lap for now. I’m going to the Lao-Thai festival for a couple of hours this afternoon. They usually have some good food and dancing at their local temple. Other than that, it will be mostly chillage today.
Howdy! I just had a BLT without the lettuce for breakfast. I’m going to cook up a chicken in the pressure cooker later and some veggies to go with. I want a roast beef but hubs bought chicken so chicken it is.
Yesterday I took 'Beamette to see a friend’s musical in a town about 60 miles from here. It takes 2 hours to get there on a good day (which it was, fortunately). I had to step out of the musical before it even started because it was so loud. I had my strongest ear plugs with me, but they just weren’t cutting it. The musical was "We will Rock You! It’s built around Queen songs.
The musical was about 4 hours, then we drove back and got home close to midnight. Then I stayed up for several more hours, because caffeine.
Today I am waiting for grocery delivery. If it’s not too hot after that, I will take Akiko-pup for a walk.
Back from the car show. We only walked around for about 20 minutes before **FCD **needed to leave. He can’t handle walking very much any more. Plus, frankly, we’d seen pretty much all the cars at past shows. I’m not a car person, and even I recognized a bunch of them.
He’s napping and I’m about to assume the Netflix position. Taz horked again - I noticed bits of plastic in the mess - I’m pretty sure that’s what’s triggering it. Stoopit cat. I need to get some cat grass for him.
It stopped raining a bit ago, so I guess the dog park is back onto the agenda.
I want to find somewhere else to go, just for a change of scenery.
I think when it gets less muddy we’ll go to the state park and walk around a little bit there.
Wifey made an apple puffed pancake for brekkie this morning Yum!
She has an open house today so I’m without adult supervision for most of the day today. My plans include poop-scooping the back yard and working on my new train layout. And maybe straightening up the upstairs back bedroom. (My computer and train room).
She planted one of those butterfly bushes in the backyard a few years ago. Be warned, they will try to take over!
I’m looking forward to real tomatoes this summer for my BLTs. Can’t yet bring myself to make them with what’s available in the stores so far. The high school’s greenhouse sale should start next weekend though!
I got a ‘survey’ from the democratic party last week. It wanted me to tell them all the things they should be doing, picked from their list. And then send them money.
They’re getting to be more like the republicans every year. I still don’t despise them as much as the republicans though. [/soapbox]
