Thanks for the tip! I’m always glad to get Netflix and Hulu tips from friends whose taste I share. I went straight to my Netflix app and added it to my list. Not having a TV or cable it helps me find something to enjoy, otherwise I just search aimlessly. So, everyone, throw those screen time tips at me. I love good mysteries to read too-anything I can get from the library, keep your ideas coming.
I should what this quote is from but I can’t pull it out of my weary brain. It is a useful one alright. Fits my life.
Wore my pearls today in honor of Ruth Ginsburg and her defense of universal voting rights. Looked pretty silly with my old striped Tarjay shirt, mismatched ‘bleh’ cover-my-nakedness leggings, Birkenstocks and even more mismatched crazy cat lady socks but I promised a friend I would, so I did. I’m sure the onlookers at the grocery store wondered about me but they were all too Midwestern polite to say anything.
Spent the day at home with a belly bug (I think it’s all of the coughing and the menthol cough drops that upset it). I slept a lot and kept a small dog in my lap.
When I took Gordie out, the new dog in the building barked at us. So Gordie barked back, which set off Woody, Brody, and the dogs in 307. This building goes to 11. Making Italian chicken with cheesy rice and sauteed asparagus and 'shrooms. Drinking an Old Fashioned and watching the election coverage.
Doggone, consarned, schackin’, frackin’ vermints! Yes, I’m channeling my inner Yosemite Sam in my anti-cable company wrath. As I’ve said, I never watch TV. I have the bare-bones cable package, and it’s only for times like election night. But WHICH channels do I have? Why, dunno! I never got a list. I tried calling to request a list. Not an option: I could add channels or remove channels, but the menu offered me nothing else. Saying “Speak to a representative” was also a no-go, as was hitting zero. I finally by chance got a live rep. He hung up on me accidentally. I think.
I found a list online of my basic channels, but no channel numbers. I went through and figured out the channel numbers for CBS. I guess that’s what I’m watching tonight. I don’t get the WGN America channel or CNN, but dang, Fox News [shudder] is all over the freakin’ place.
OK, rant over. Since last I posted, I got an ocular migraine, and my friend texted and said he couldn’t get me an “I Voted” sticker because they were all out. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS? This means I got all the bad luck out of the way for all of us.
Only had to stay an hour after the polls closed – anybody have a back and a couple of knees I can borrow? Mine hurt. 1142 voters where I was working: 51.6% Biden, 45.7% Trump. Now I’m sitting here eating pot roast and thinking about bed…
Howdy Y’all! Laundered, napped, made and et sup, then cleanded the kitchen. Life is as ever, nonstop around here! Have I mentioned lately that retirement is da bomb? Oh, and had a chat with EYP about virtual Diocesan convention which begins this Thursday evenin’ (just some pre-convention stuff I must needs deal with), Firday evenin’ (real convention), and Sattidy mornin’ (real convention). He had this idea that we should all, the two delegates, him, and our Deacon should meet in the Parish hall for convention stuff even though it is all online and each of us have to signed on with our own unique reservation and ID (which I have already created and got all set up on my laptop), and on our own devices. I politely declined explainin’ that I will be happy to convene right here at da cave with all the conveniences of home. I see no reason to lug myself and my laptop on a twenty six mile roundtrip both Firday and Sattidy. However, I did agree to give a presentation about convention to the Vestry this comin’ Moanday evenin’. I’m curmudgeonly, but nice, dammit!
I want to hang on to see election results but sleepy time may be upon me soon.
My roast is fall-apart tender and rather tasty. The sauce is apparently a bit on the fatty side, must let it sit long enough that removing some excess oil is an option (thought I did a better job of trimming on this roast!). DH thinks he’ll have some on a sandwich roll (we are well-supplied with those).
Evening all. Coached soccer under the lights and then had my 2sday Mac-n-Cheese for dinner. Been watching the voting by following the thread here in the Dope, don’t know if I’ll make it to a decision or not before having to go to bed.
You were not the only one rocking her pearls with whatever jumped out of the closet. I had a few pictures from pearl wearings in my Facebook feed on Tuesday.
I looked at a few sites about the election results and I think the remainder of the day I will be looking through my fingers, like how I was horror shows.
Just got off the phone with an old friend, who’s awake & freaking out over the elections … and quite drunk, poor thing.
I made her laugh a few times, and sternly ordered her to stay off the news. Once there’s an answer, trust me, we’ll all know anyway. She admitted she probably will not, but hopefully I made her feel better, if only for a minute.
Morning, mumpers! I also have half an eye on your election results although I see the mummery has already started…
Happy birthday to FCD - I hope he enjoys playing with the new motor when it arrives!
We braved the idiots at the supermarket yesterday evening, and I have to say it was better then expected. They had very sensibly limited sales of pasta and rice to two or three packs per customer, and TP was in plentiful supply. Fortunately, I didn’t need any of those items so no panic-buying here. Bizarrely, the one thing on my list that they didn’t have was frozen sweetcorn so I will do without until next week’s grocery run. I don’t use it much, and I probably have a tin of the stuff in the pantry if I look hard enough.
After that, we dropped stuff off at home and then walked to our local pub for a curry. They have an amazing Nepalese chef who makes a small selection of curries so we decided to be adventurous and pick a couple of different ones (we have our favourites, but it’s good to branch out). Mine was Murg Chettinad, and 'im indoors had lamb Nilgiri, accompanied by plain naan bread. Twas very yummy, and we walked home with stuffed tums.
Need a cup of tea now, I have a team meeting this morning and I have to do something for it…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 40 Amurrkin out (BRR!) and clear, with a predicted high of 74 and N.O.S. for the day. Today we shall lay in provisions. I shall also make a Sam’s run and I want to get a haircut as my haid is lookin’ a bit shaggy. We shall sup at our favorite Mexican place tonight. We haven’t been in a while and they do make good fajitas. OLÈ!
So we still await the outcome. Hopefully that will happen today. Either way, no more annoyin’ ads and phone calls, so I call that a win.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, woe of woe and bother of bothers, I must needs purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life can be so hard!
Gonna be one of those days. I woke at 2 (stoopit bladder) and just had to check the news on my tablet - to learn there’s no result yet. But I couldn’t fall back to sleep, so I’ve been reading inanities for the last 3 hours.
We have a 10AM appointment to sign our wills, then home to await the delivery of the car. The driver has to drop off another vehicle in Alexandria, so we’re pretty sure ours won’t arrive till this afternoon. FCD is already talking about having this outrageously expensive coating done to the paint, because I guess wax isn’t good enough. I don’t need a confrontation about that…
My other plan is to run the leaf sucker around the yard this afternoon - the accumulation is pretty thick and it’ll only get worse. At least the weather is supposed to be nice.
Good morning (for real this time) and welcome to Wednesday!
It’s bright & sunny here in southwestern Mitten State, so the kitties are pokin’ around outside. I have about two-anna-half hours before I gotta be at irk, and I close so it’ll be a late night.
Off to shower and shevel m’self as one does. I’ll see y’all on the flip side.
It’s memorable because she says it pretty much every time she makes a sentence. But I could see not remembering where it came from. Given TV today, pretty much everyone seems to have a one-liner like that. I actually wound up googling it first, but I couldn’t get the re-jiggered version out of my head so I barfed it out right here. That said, it probably would’ve been more accurate to say the year is long & full of terrors because it is.
More coffee today while obsessively watching the results come in from the election. I hate this.
One more consult today with the other surgeon doing mom’s surgery. Covid swab for her Friday. Then we wait until next Tuesday.
