Heroes 10/29/07 - "The Line" (SPOILERS)

He wanted to tickle Sigourney Weaver with his big Russian sausage!

I never heard anything about Random Jail guy stealing a car. The twins were thrown in jail for car theft, and it sure looked to me like Sylar was holding keys in his hand immediately after the murder.

But I don’t have a tape to review.

I’m not sure they ever said so explicity, but I think it was supposed to be inferred. The guy was in jail for drugs, if I remember right. When they made comments about “his car” he acted all cagey about it.

Also, I’d hate for them to have every character driving a blue Nissan Rogue… they’ve been sloppy this season, but I’ll give them the benefit that they wouldn’t go that far.

It looked like Claire’s car and it had the bumper sticker from Claire’s high school on it.

That’s the main clue; I’m pretty sure it’s never been explicitly said that it’s Claire’s car, but it has the bumper sticker, and Maya asks him if he’s from California, and he’s all, “Buh?” She says it has a CA license plate, so he stammers some explanation that no, he’s from New Jersey and (IIRC) rented the car in CA, but a rental car wouldn’t have a “Go Conquistadors!” bumper sticker on it–and I’m pretty sure that the way the camera zoomed in on that when they drove away from the jail was intended to be a big fat clue.

Well, if it’s Claire’s car, and Random Jail Guy has the keys, that means that Claire not only stupidly left her brand new car unlocked, but stupidly left the keys in it.

Only Alejandro was in jail. Maya came to visit and cried bitter tears to get him out.

Looking at those paintings, the guy with the girl in the dead horn-rimmed glasses painting doesn’t look like West. That guy seems a bit stockier, has a mohawk and is wearing camopants.

Anyone notice that West didn’t really answer the question about his parents, but deflected it?

And perhaps the dead man in the painting isn’t Noah, but rather Papa Patrelli (and possibly Kensai), as he was wearing horn-rimmish glasses in the blurry photo of him.

I was thinking that the guy with the girl might be Sylar; if he regains his powers AND if he somehow managed to retain whatever he needed to get from Candace and her illusion powers, it could explain why she is seemingly oblivious to the death of her father (if that is in fact Claire).

Bob had a file with the name Adam something on it and Mohinder caught a glimpse of the file.

I seem to remember Bob was saying they had more important people to worry about than Monica (? the muscle memory girl) and Mohinder said something like, “Oh, this guy?” and they showed Adam’s file.

Oh, and did anyone else wonder if Bob is really letting Monica go home and be herself? I am suspicious about that iPod he gave her.

Adam Monroe.

So is there any reason to believe that Isaac’s paintings will actually come true since the future has been changed? New York didn’t explode because Nathan flew Peter to a safe distance, BECAUSE they knew about the paintings. Therefore the paintings themselves changed the future, but the paintings never changed, did they?

So now that Peter’s got the power, his new paintings in the new present surely are somewhat reliable. (See the Montreal pic) But Isaac’s originals are all suspect, no? So Noah’s got an out, it seems.
Also… this mysterious Adam Monroe obviously met Peter over the summer, based on the familiarity in his note. Peter also must have met Elle since he’s got her power. So it seems he had a summer’s worth of adventures before losing his memory and ending up in the shipping container. In all that time, he didn’t at least call Nathan collect to say “Hey, I’m alive, don’t drink yourself into a coma of blame!” ??

Also… didn’t it seem rather quick for Kensei to flip sides? I don’t mean emotionally, I mean logistically. He sees Hiro kissing Yaeko, gets mad, then runs back to her father, drags him to White Beard, says something like, “I was tricked into attacking your camp by this magical bastard, Hiro. Sorry bout that. Here’s your swordsmith back, I’ll serve you and get him for you if you’ll forgive me.” Then he’s got to convince WB to believe him, go back and capture Yaeko or ask WB to do so, then tell him, “Hide your men in the bushes with the prisoners, while I wait here for Hiro and have it out with him.” And then, (and only then) yell at Hiro, pretend to make amends, only to donkey punch him and knock him out, so White Beard’s men can parade out the (strangely silent) prisoners and gloat. Whuh???

I believe this sums up rather nicely how the writing for a comic book made for tv and aimed at the lowest common denominator differs from great literature, or even a well-written tv show.

I know I’m supposed to suspend disbelief in a show about people with superpowers, but I’m having trouble swallowing the notion that Noah, ostensibly a clever man who knows the score, upon viewing a Mendez painting he knows will come to pass, does not immediately go out and get some fricking Lasik done and toss out every pair of glasses, horn-rimmed or not in his vicinity.

OK, I’d like to point something out. I have come to associate your screen name with “that guy who urinates in every Heroes thread.” IIRC, it was last season’s threads when I made this realization, and I gave a private chuckle when I saw you at it again like clockwork when this season’s threads started up. Consider it a data point for you.

Perhaps you could endeavor to not read these threads, or maybe stop tuning in to what is obviously an unpleasant TV watching experience for you?

No, I enjoy betting with myself how long before the, “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it” comment appears. (Note to self; Post #76) It always reminds me of the people who, when faced with criticism of America, shouted, “If you don’t like it, move to France!” or some such nonsense.

Though I’m flattered that you only read my posts in these threads, if you read other people’s you’ll see that I’m not the only one who finds fault, including the post I commented on which provoked your comment. If you do read the other critical posts, but mine stand out to you, I’m doubly flattered that my comments make the impact that I always hope they do.

Now we can go back to discussing the show, unless you want to talk about me some more, which I’m glad to do.

Morbo, what you need to know about randwill is … IT’S A CON!

Speaking of clockwork, whose turn is it to lambast Otto for using nicknames? It’s already Wednesday, and we’re way behind this week’s quota.

I see someone already postulated another wild and whacky “immortal Kensei is really… !” theory, so we’re good on that score.

(all tongue in cheek here, mind you) (mostly)

So you don’t like the show, yet you deliberately post negative comments in the threads about the show in hopes of provoking a specific reaction. Does that about sum it up?
