Heroes 11/05/07 - "Out of Time" (SPOILERS)

Reviewing my DVR:
[ol]
[li]The painting of Mohinder shows him indeed holding a smoking gun. It looks to be the same model gun that Bob just have him in this episode. His expression is less of anger and more of sadness. There’s a tear in one corner of his eye.[/li][li]I now agree that the painting of Niki is that of her breaking down Bob’s door.[/li][li]It looks like the last painting isn’t of Noah but rather of Bob. The painting conveniently cuts off the top of the head, so we can’t tell whether the man is bald or has a full head of hair. However, horn-rimmed glasses in the painting are more similar to Bob’s than to Noah’s. Moreover, the suit in the painting is gray with a large cross-hatch - exactly the suit that Bob is wearing in this episode.[/li][/ol]

Next week we learn what happened “Four Months Earlier”. It is either that episode or the one after that that we learn what the powers of the twelve were. Simone’s father’s power was probably dreamwalking, for instance. The two of the three times we see him involved dreams. :stuck_out_tongue: Mama’s P’s is probably along the way of teleportation, since she seems to get around a lot. :o

Hmmm, scratch what I said about the glasses in the painting. Their shape is more rectangular than round, like Bob’s, but the horn-rim frame is only along the top, like Noah’s.

The suit is definitely what Bob is wearing, though.

Everytime mama Petrelli talks about supers she refers to them as “us” so shes definitely got a power, and we know one of the oldschool heroes had some kind of weather control power. The remember thing with Peter didn’t really seem like her using any kind of power, just yelling at him to remember and getting a reaction, curing amnesia isnt really something that would come up often enough to be noticeable.

I also don’t thing that it’s West that Claire is kissing in the background. The hair is all wrong.

I’m enjoying this season more than season one, for the most part. Totally called Takezo Kensei’s reveal, though.

Speculation : Bob’s sending Mohinder after Claire not to cure the virus, but so he can have a test subject to see if it will be capable of finally killing “Adam”.

Nice.

All right, I need some ‘splainin’ done.

Is this correct:

Some of the heroes have a “natural” virus. Mohinder’s blood can cure them. The Company has also created a separate virus to try to erase some of the Heroes’ powers - the “dangerous” ones. In the future, this man-made virus gets out and infects the general population, which kills them.

No, the virus mutated such that Mohinder’s blood no longer kills it.

So why is The Company still trying to use it to kill the Heroes’ powers? (I understand Mohinder is attempting to stop them.)

But the Company has been experimenting with different strains of the virus.

It seems that the virus was natural in origin – Mohinder’s sister Shanti apparently contracted it without Company intervention (as far as we know). The Company has been mucking about with virus strains, and maybe have or planned to have tested it on heroes (as seen last episode, when Mohinder refused, and smashed the virus sample cabinet).

Whether the virus mutated on its own, or the Company’s experiments were the cause seems unclear for now.

Dolores Reborn has it right. The virus (natural so far as we know) in its original state, kills. Most notably, it killed Mohinder’s sister, Ashanti. The Company mutated the virus into a strain that does not kill, but destroys powers.

The original virus then mutated spontaneously, adapting so that Mohinder’s blood is no longer a cure.

That does not add up.

The virus that Niki infected herself with was a Company strain. It was supposedly designed to block Maury’s powers, but not to kill him. By your scheme, that would then be a Company-mutated strain that mutated spontaneously – not the original strain.

The mutated virus still kills people. Niki was most concerned about dying. Plus we know there will be an outbreak that will kill 93% of the world’s population by next year.

Did the guy providing exposition to Peter in the future call it the “Ashanti” virus or something like that?

That’s exactly what future exposition-guy called it.

Shanti. As in Shanti Suresh, Mohinder’s sister.

Or Shanti even. :smack:

When was Adam supposed to have contracted his powers? Did he go back in time to Japan, or has he been alive that long, carrying the virus? And if he is frozen as that age, will Claire not get any older looking?

It’s been brought up in another thread, but it deserves to be mentioned here, in vindication of those who complain, in case anyone here didn’t see it

Tim Kring has taken the occasion of the writer’s strike (in which he is participating), to publicly apologize to fans for the season so far.
