I was thinking about that too. The thing is, aren’t everyone’s powers ultimately mental? That is, they originate in the brain? Claire’s powers didn’t work when she had a stick jammed in her brain, and Sylar seems to need to directly observe the brain to “learn” powers.
I sure would like to know more about Haitian and why he doesn’t talk around AED.
As for Claire, it wasn’t so much that her powers didn’t work with the stick in her brain, it was that the wound wasn’t clear of obstructions so as to be able to close up. For major injuries she sometimes has to physically reposition body parts to allow them to heal, like when she was autopsied and the skin of her torso was pulled back. IIRC she didn’t have any minor cuts or abrasions showing while she was “dead,” which to me implies that those small things healed even though the major wounds couldn’t.
Actually, a while back I had speculated that Jessica was a separate entity. Perhaps Niki’s sister Jessica had the ability to leave her own body and possess others ,but when her real body died she couldn’t go back so she shared her sister’s body. Maybe it just took her a long time to be able to learn how to take control of the other body?
I wonder how Peter will end up getting a scar now that he can use Claires healing power without her being around.
Her eyes were glazed over to show us she was dead. They cleared up the moment the stick was removed. Also, if her body was still healing minor wounds then the coroner would surely have noticed her initial incisions healing almost as fast as she could make them. It’s not like the doctor violently ripped open her chest so fast it couldn’t heal. My opinion, anyway.
Maybe he’ll be like LSH’s Ultra Boy, and can only use one power at a time. He could be hiding from the bad guys by being invisible and won’t be able to use his healing powers in time to keep a scar from appearing.
Yeah, I wasted my youth.
And of course the doctor wouldn’t be performing an autopsy in the first place if she wasn’t dead.
I’m not saying she wasn’t dead. She even says she was dead. She got better. I mean hell, I don’t claim to know everything about how these powers are supposed to work. There’s a brief delay between an injury and the healing starting; it’s not instantaneous. Maybe her system was concentrating on healing the brain and that allowed the doctor to make the incision. Maybe the delay before healing starts is enough to allow the doctor to peel back the skin. I dunno.
You and me, both. I read The New Teen Titans religiously, too. 
They’re going to have to put some limit on his abilities, or he’s going to be too powerful to keep around. I mean, if we thought Hiro might be too powerful… Hiro’s powers are just one of Peter’s abilities now.
Wonder if he got all of Sylar’s as well. All the legwork he’s been doing and brains he’s been eating, Peter should at least thank him for all the fire ass powers he would gain at once.
Unless, of course, that Peter only gets the “natural” power (how things work, in Sylar’s case) and not the ones that Sylar has stolen.

Sorry, after the numerous assaults Niki/Jessica have done on various guards and the Shrink, nothing a mysterious rich man could do would end as “you are free to go”. Not that fast, anyway.
The way i understood it was Peter has the powers he has already used, Dr. Who said something like “your body already knows how to do it, you just need to remember”. So i don’t think he has Sylars or Hiros powers, only flying, invicibility, healing and future paiting.
Edit: oh and mind reading, forgot about his brief encounter with telepatic cop. Speaking of whom could they make it any more obvious on the promos that they are killing him off? come on.
But he did seem to have some of Sylar’s telekinesis power in the fight (he deflected doors) and he didn’t have to “remember” Claires power to use it the first time (nor flying, nor invisibility) - those things just “happened”.
When Hiro came back in time to contact peter, everyone else in the subway car was frozen. I think that the reason that peter wasn’t frozen was because he was using Hiro’s power.
If could go back in time I could capitalize the P in peter.
The major difference between Peter and Sylar is that Peter gets the powers without conscious intent just buy being in its owner’s presence. He didn’t even realize he was invisible for a minute. When he was healed in the stadium, Claire wasn’t healing at the same time and he didn’t know she had a power. Sylar can only absorb power through conscious intent. As far as we know he gained no powers from Hiro at the diner even though they were sitting near each other for a while.
I’m not convinced that’s who we think it is flying out of the window.
I still maintain that Peter wasn’t frozen because Hiro was good enough at his power to selectively decide who to freeze and not freeze. Just my WAG, though.
And Peter almost never realizes when he first gets the power that he has it, but if he ever wants to use it after that, when not around the other powered person, he has to “remember”, as it were, how the power felt/what he did/the person he got it from.
