So much for a life of meaning.
Yes. But saying “heartbeat away…” implies (to me) that it would be just a stepping point to the presidency. Else, why not say “Vice President” ?
Not spoilering my response, it’s just spec.
Perhaps Ando has a passive enhancing ability, like the kid in X-Men 3 that actually had a field that cancelled out abilities, only the opposite?
As soon as I saw that chick checking out Mrs. B’s hair, I knew she was going to have a Mystique like ability and copy her. Only I am guessing from the visual effect they use to show her changing, that she creates an illusion around herself instead of actually morphing her body. I am surprised that Mr. B would not be prepared for something like that to happen since he knew of her abilities. He should have worked out a secret code for himself and the real Mrs. B. I agree she’s a total annoying bitch and hope she doesn’t last long. Aside from the fact that she’s a bitch and gets too much joy out of screwing with people I am not understanding why supers are helping this company screw with other supers. In the case of the Haitian and Claude, we know that they weren’t real Company men, but this chick … I don’t think she cares.
Yeah, I was glad to see Mohinder do something smart, realize he had Sylar, then he had to go and underestimate him. He should have kept him sedated and drowsy as well, I don’t see how curare was supposed to keep Sylar controlled since he seemed to be able to move quite a bit.
As for Mr. Linderman, I think his power is to make a delicious pot pie.
That’s what I got too.
I don’t know, Peter SHOULD have the advantage in that fight. Afterall he already has the two most powerful abilities, Hiros and Claires… plus he can absorb whatever Sylar throws at him.
Was it my imagination, or did Eric Roberts’ character call the Haitian by NAME early in the episode when he’s debriefing Bennet? Gotta check that again…
Speculation doesn’t need to be spoilered.
No, I don’t think Ando has any “enhancement field” or what-not. Hiro has used his powers any number of times without Ando’s being present, including his intial teleportation from the train in Tokyo to Future NYC. Ando closed his eyes before Hiro reversed the gunshot because Ando thought he was about to be shot and didn’t want to see it coming.
Because Linderman is a huge drama queen.
Fabulous episode!
My biggest question has already been addressed. Which, of course, was: do you think this is how Peter gets his scar? ducks tomatoes thrown from audience Seriously, I was curious about how Sylar turned off the IV. I guess I can buy that his powers weren’t sufficiently subdued.
Other thoughts:
Pissed-off-I-shall-revenge-my-father!Mohinder…oh my. I love that man. Please, please do not let him die.
Who was in Isaac’s painting? I did not recognize, except to think that perhaps it was a really bad interpretation of Mohinder, in which case, no, because see above, and because why would Sylar chop his top? He doesn’t have any powers.
I will join the I Hate Morphing Girl club in a heartbeat. What a bitch. Though I must admit, both times she did her thing she caught me totally off guard. First time, I thought Isaac was dreaming. Second time, I honestly believed it was Mrs. Bennett, even when she started talking over the phone about how “Yes, he’s going to be a problem.” I was like “Ooh, how can she betray her husband like that?!”
I adore Hiro, but the whole drooping face, I-have-failed pity party thing he does every single episode is getting a bit old. Like someone else said: suck it up and go back, man! Haven’t you seen any time-travel movies? This is one possible future. Jeez. Oh, and I’m thrilled Ando is back!
I admit, I am a bit confused as to why Sylar is so hot to gain Peter’s powers. Yes, it would mean he could steal people’s powers without slicing open their heads, but I get the feeling he quite likes that part of it? I suppose at this point Sylar’s just completely whacked and will steal anyone’s powers he possibly can, even if they run into Sonic Flatulence Man or something.
I don’t think Sylar has any idea what Peters power is, otherwise he would be running scared. He just remembers him as the guy who stopped him from killing Claire.
Isaac was painting his own death; recall from early in the season when Hiro travels to just before the explosion and finds Isaac in the studio with his cranium sliced open and the gun laying there.
I’ve often heard the vice-presidency described as being “a heartbeat away from being president”.
Are we sure Sylar is a cannibal? I’d been assuming he was, but maybe he just needs to open you up to see how you work, and then can replicate your powers once he learns what makes you tick.
This makes him a more perfect mirror to Peter, who mimics powers by emotion, rather than quasi-rational analysis.
I know, that’s why I did not spoiler my speculation which was in response to that spec you quoted which wasn’t even mine. That was not my spec that you quoted that was Slacker’s spec which was spoilered.

…
Again I did not say they had to be together, that was Slacker. I was only playing off Slacker’s spec as a possible explanation of why Hiro’s powers have worked better on a couple occasions when he was with Ando. I never said or thought they had to be together for Hiro’s powers to work and an enhancement field would not be the same thing.
I don’t mind people nitpicking my speculations, I just don’t like having spec attributed to me that I didn’t say…
unless it’s really, really good.
Hugh Jass - The Vice-Presidency is often referred to as being a heartbeat away from the Presidency. No extra nuances need to be inferred there.

This is the weirdest part of the show for me – Sylar assuming powers by eating brains. But what else could it be?
I just got finished watching the video commentary and the writer brought up something that I completely missed. I bring it up because usually we dopers are very observant, but sometimes being involved gives you better perspective. His comment was very innocent and I don’t think it needs spoilering.
He said it was interesting that Linderman was wearing a wedding band. So we may have a Mrs. Linderman in our future.
I thought Malcom MacDowell was brilliant as Linderman. Loved the reference number on Hiro’s sword CRM-114 or something to that effect.
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THE SHOWDOWN BETWEEN PETER AND SYLAR
Sucks we have to wait 6 weeks…Anyone know what is taking it’s place on Monday nights? And why the network needs a 6 week delay?

From what I can tell, we’re getting double sized episodes of “Deal or No Deal”.
Must-ZZZZZ-TV.

Sylar learned how watches worked by taking them apart. Perhaps his real power is doing the same thing with people. Once he learns from observing your brain how you do it, he can do it himself. He doesn’t need to eat your brain, he just needs to dissect it.
He’s a super-anatomist.
I just got home. Can someone spoil the first .5 hour?
No one, huh?
It’s cool. I missed most of the second half too, so I’ll try to catch it on the skiffy channel on Friday.
By the way, did anyone catch the Princess Bride nod, the curator’s line about how few Dead Sea Scrolls there are, and how it would be a pity to ruin this one (or something like that)? Similar to Wesley’s line about how there are is a shortage of perfect breasts in the world…
