What should have tipped Mohinder off was that Sylar still had his super hearing. Remember when Mohinder used the pitch fork to get Sylar to admit his name? I thought that was a plot hole at first. How could Sylar have his super hearing and not his other powers? But it looks like the writers cleared that one up.
Mohinder is still an idiot for not figuring it out.
Eh, not a problem, there, even if the curare was working how Mohinder had expected.
He had intended to take away Sylar’s ability to control his powers (and his body), but leave him alive, and fully sensible. The super-hearing is a completely passive ability - in fact, he’s always unable to control it. At least he would be if it worked like Dales, although he seems to have learnt how to control it. Peter’s screaming isn’t putting him in pain in the last scene, for instance.
If the drug had acted as Mohinder had expected, Sylar’s access to the powers he needs to consciously activate - telekenesis, cryo-casting, the melty thing - would have been out of his reach, just as his ability to move his arms and legs would be. But his passive abilities - Charlie’s super-memory, Dale’s super-hearing, and his inborn sensory ability would still be active, just like his non-super senses, breathing, and heartbeat.
Of course, clearly, the drug isn’t working how Mohinder had expected, so it’s a moot point, in any case.
One thing I’m curious about - AED had the Haitian wipe his memory to protect Claire, and because he knew that the agency has mind readers and would find out anything he knew.
So then why did he instruct his wife to tell him everything again? Didn’t that completely negate the value of having his mind wiped in the first place?
I nearly threw something at the TV when Hiro was a foot away from the sort, and came back down because the guy pressed the button. Who cares? Get the sword, then TELEPORT OUT OF THERE!!!
Of course, it all ended up OK, thanks to unexpected (and implausible) Ando.
And then, when Mohinder didn’t kill Sylar, I had exactly the same reaction, although of course it was pretty clear what was going to happen.
The big shock for me was Mrs. Petrelli. I sure as heck didn’t see that coming.
Hey did anyone notice Peter got his bangs cut off? I bet that’s how he gets his scar.
April 23??? Man, that’s bullshit.
So, it’s Linderman, Niki, Mrs. Petrelli, Haitian, Claire and maybe Claude on one side, soon to be joined by AED.
On the other side we’ve got, well shit - I don’t know names. Evil people from Primatech.
Somewhere in the middle is Mr. Nakamura I bet.
April fucking 23rd???
That new chick is a total bitch. I hope Niki or Wireless or somebody ends up kicking her ass.
Hiro, you’ve jumped to a nasty future before. You know, the future you’re supposed to be saving? Quit being a baby and get back to the present. You got your silly little sword now geek-boy. Bring Ando with you, he’s the one with the brains evidently.
Another clue the first scene was with the wife and not the impersonator - in the first scene, the cell phone rang with a dog barking ringtone. In the second scene, it was just a plain old ring. When the cell phone went off was when Bennett should have started kicking some shape-shifting ass.
He had his wife deliver him a note that Claire was safe and with friends so that he would not attempt to go after her. Imagine you couldn’t remember the last few days, but come back to find that your daughter’s not there and she sure as heck isn’t at Cheer Camp. I bet my first instinct would be to try to find her, or call the police, and he couldn’t have himself go and do that.
Mr. Bennet also told his wife who he was and what he did. Has he forgotten about Matt and his mind-reading ability?? Wouldn’t they have Matt double-check the wife and son too?
And I hate that shape-shifting bitch. She’s a little too happy about screwing people over.
Yeah, yeah, he got the haircut. That’s nice and all, but the main thing that was bugging me is how Peter’s always talking out of one side of his face like he’s had a stroke or something. What do we have to do to make that stop?
As Hiro might say when he sees Mistar Flying Man… WHOOSH!
Speaking of Hiro, do we now have confirmation that… (speculation, but spoilered for the truly sensitive)
… Hiro and Ando have to be together to use Hiro’s (or their) powers? The other time it worked recently was when they were about to get shot during the gunplay between the dancer and the gaming commission guy. They were both there, and both closed their eyes. It seemed like this was confirmed tonight, although it wouldn’t jive with the early episodes when Hiro was discovering his abilities.
Okay we know Sylar’s about to indulge in some chianti and fava beans at Peter’s expense and Hiro and Ando time trip to the post-kapow rooftop. The way I see it, the only way Peter’s going to get out of this is to blow his top…so to speak. In other words, saving the world doesn’t necessarily mean saving the big apple. It must be done to kill Sylar. And I hope he takes Morph Maiden with him! I HATE her.
I have a partially developed theory. Linderman mentioned that in two years, Nathan Petrelli will have won his election and would be a heartbeat from the presidency. I’m thinking Linderman is somehow behind the explosion (for what greater reason, I do not know) and as a sidebar will position Nathan as a hero of the rebuilding effort, and catapult him to national prominence a la Rudy Giuliani. Presumably, being “a heartbeat from the presidency” is an implication that he could become president if he cooperates with Linderman.
It seems rather drastic to destroy New York to get your man in the presidency, but…
