Heroes 3/5: "Parasite" (SPOILERS)

I thought I heard Hiro say something that indicated he knew he was in the future after New York had blown up real good as soon as he realized where he was (“Oh no! I wasn’t able to stop it!” or something like that.)

Good episode. What a fun show! The hour seems to go by in a flash.

Was there some meaning in the way Sylar pressed his head onto the gun Mohinder was holding on him at first? He was taunting him to shoot him, it looked like. Was it simply that he thought Mohinder didn’t have the stones to actually do it (which, it turns out, he did), or is it just a symptom of Sylar being crazy as a shithouse rat?

I like the bitchy new illusionist! A character I can love to hate is welcome.

Besides, she has hot legs…

Just rewatched the Hiro scene in NY… the crane with the beam appears controlled, and you can clearly see a couple of vehicles on the street below (if you watch closely enough)

I just rewatched the scene where I thought Eric Roberts mentions the Haitian’s name, and he he actually says “Prague and Parkman” which for some reason sounded to me like some exotic name when I watched it the first time. Oh well.

I noticed that in the preview for the upcoming episodes there were some scenes from previous episodes like Peter flying with Claude on his back to escape Bennet and the Haitian on the rooftop, and there’s a quick flash of what looks like Sylar flying toward Peter feet-first, but it appears to actually be running in reverse…possibly to throw off the viewers to what’s happening, but could it also be Peter bending time and space a la Hiro?

OK then. I thought the crane was just swinging in the breeze, and I was too busy watching the bird to notice the cars.

Was anyone else expecting Sylar to melt the gun in Mohinder’s hands after he stopped the bullet? That would’ve been a nice touch.

Ooh, it just occurred to me that now Peter’s going to have Melty and Hearing as well!

I can’t wait to see them battle it out. That’s going to be badass.

not necessarily, it’s possible Peter can only use powers that he has literally been exposed to, such as the telekinesis, and not suddenly assume powers he has never seen (because otherwise how would he know that he was able to do that)

I thought for sure he got Claire’s healing ability without being in close proximity to her while it was working.

And he got Claude’s invisibility without even knowing that Claude existed.

He went invisible without ever knowing that Claude was. He doesn’t have to know that he’s being exposed to a power to be able to use it later, since AFAIK, he also didn’t know Claire (and therefore, by extension, he) would heal.

So, in theory, after now being with Sylar, peter should be able to:
Fly
Heal
Read minds
Erase memories (I *think[/] he was in close proximity to the Haitian, but I might be wrong.)
Paint the future
Bend space and time
Invisibility
Telekinesis
Super hearing
Melting power
Freezing power
Super memory (we haven’t seen Sylar use that! He saw the list at one point, in theory, he should never have to see it again. Though, granted, so Mohinder says he can make a new and better list.)

Anything I’m missing?

In possible combination with his dream ability, he came to the conclusion he could fly before he was aware of anyone having superpowers so it seems given enough time, he figures out his powers without having to see someone use them first.

Was he ever near Eden? (the woman, not the mythical garden)

When did we see a freezing power?

It could be an aspect of the TK, but Sylar can move really fast, jump really high and apparently bullets don’t penetrate him. He can also shrug off large doses of drugs, and pretend to be dead. Is that all TK? I dunno.

At the beginning of the series we saw a crime scene where one of the victims was frozen solid and these were supposed to be victims of Sylar.

You forgot being able to open people’s heads and eat their brains.

And figure out how anything works by examining it.

Yeah. Nothing makes sense with Sylar – either eating brains or examining them to get their powers. Maybe he just thinks he has to kill people. Could he be like Peter?

Oh! And we forgot that he can go nuclear like Ted!

no he can’t, he never met Ted.

Hrm, so, the thing is, presumably to do all of Sylar’s abilities he channels Sylar (“remember how they made me feel”) and he gets all the Sylar associated powers?

I’m of the opinion that Sylar does have to at least observe the brain more directly to understand the power, being able to figure it out visually, perhaps.

I’m inclined to believe a lot of these are seperate abilities, the TK might have been responsible, for, say stopping his heart temporarily, although he might have figured out how, say, that cockroach went dormant or resisted high doses of poison (note that he can figure things out and alter his DNA to match, nobody ever said it has to be some other super that the “new” DNA is matching).

I wonder if Sylar was the one Claude was referencing when Peter asked him, and who he was responsible for “hiding”.

I think it’s unlikely since from what we’ve been shown about Sylar he only became aware of his abilities recently when visited by Papa Suresh.
