He was scanning Bennet while Eric Roberts was talking to Bennet at the first of the episode. Apparently they told him they’d let him go if he helped them.
They lied.

They were both at the high school during the Homecoming Massacree, but I don’t remember whether they even saw each other, so he may not have been close enough to absorb her power.
She was in the apartment the first time Peter and Mohimbo met, leading to the unfortunate “craphouse rat” exchange between Mohimbo and Eden (word choice so bad it’s no wonder it got out of my brain like there was a Haitian after it).
Oooh, so Peter does have that ability.
Something I also meant to mention earlier:
The more and more the series progresses, the more I tend to agree with other posters that New York will go boom, and Isaac will die. So far, every single one of his paintings has come true, to some extent. Sure, it was Jackie’s skull ripped open, not Claire’s, and the dinosaur was a model, but when Hiro went to the future (twice now,) we know it’s a real atomic explosion in real NYC, not a model, or a video game, or some other cop out, and we also saw Isaac’s skull open on the floor, which he just painted.
I also wonder if Linderman has a power…part of me wants to say he has some kind of…“event manipulation” power. He says he sees Nathan winning, and in the white house in two years, because he can make it happen.
I see the first part of your question is answered. As for the second part, by delaying six weeks puts the final episodes of the season during the May sweeps.
We don’t know that it is atomic in nature… There were construction crews working in the blast zone following the explosion.
Oh yeah…
Thanks for the reminder.
It’s not certain yet exactly how Peter sponges powers so we can’t say for certain that he does have the Voice. My belief is that the power has to be used around him for him to mimic it. The only instance I can recall of him using a power that wasn’t actively used in his presence was when he picked up Isaac’s power and sketched himself flying, but Isaac was high and had perhaps used his power recently enough that it was still somewhat active.
That’s not a superpower, it’s a regular power - lots and lots of money.
Wasn’t there some reason to believe that he got his dream ability from his patient, the now-dead father of the now-dead woman whose name I’m blanking on.
Simone Deveaux
I do believe the dead Mr. Devaux may have had a power and/or is connected with other things (Linderman and/or PrimaTech), especially how he owned the building that contained the balcony that seems to hold special signifigance.
The only power Peter has been shown to posess without it being used in his prsence is the regeneration of Claire, but he did gain that without it being used in his presence. He has also gained an ability from Sylar that was stolen by Sylar from someone else.
For a lack of better terms, Peter and Sylar are being set up in the story as Christ/Anitchrist. The same ability (more or less) but opposing intents. Peter, although he may struggle with the power, wants to save the world. Sylar wants to “sink [his] teeth in.” This is a powerful storytelling device that should be wielded carefully by the writers. From the last two episodes, I believe they have the ability to use it well, but I can not predict yet how.
I like the new shapeshifting chick, but that may be due to the fact she’s really hot and my fetish for short plaid skirts.
If anyone can speak French, what do Angela Petrelli and the Haitian say to each other at the end?
Peter seems to unconsciously mimic powers of those immediately around him for a limited period of time, which would explain why he was able to regenerate without having actually seen Claire do it herself. The first time he drew the future it was a stick drawing and his eyes didn’t go all weird, so I’m thinking it was perhaps a fading echo since it had been quite some time since he’d last met Isaac at that point. In order to use those powers when he’s on his own, he has to consciously remember them. With Eden, he would have been able to mimic her powers when he was with her at the time, but he never saw her use them, so I don’t think he’d be able to conjure them up from within himself because that would require a conscious effort at remembering those powers. He can’t remember what he never saw.
Why are we calling Mohinder “Mohimbo”? It sounds really stupid.
A couple of minor observations:
I think I saw Claire as a brunette in the preview. It suits her.
The game that Nikki/Jessica and Micah were playing was Heavenly Sword, which isn’t actually out yet. Advance marketing tactics at their finest… except a lot of people probably wouldn’t know what game it is. Also, while you can see the PS3 it’s kind of hidden, and it looks like it’s hooked up to a computer monitor, which might make people think they’re looking at a PC game.
Turns out himbo has actually made it into a legitimate dictionary. From Merriam-Webster: “an attractive but vacuous man.”
Mohinder has shown himself, time and again, to be pretty effin’ stupid, but the show cast an attractive actor to look stupid and bumble through his father’s quest. Hence, he’s a himbo. In threads where we name people “Prognostipainter” (or better yet, “Mystery Sock”) and “Doctor Where” and “Spongebrain Clairesmom”, it’s no surprise we’d tweak Mohinder’s name. Personally, I find it funny.
Yeah, well some wordplay works, and some doesn’t. I hadn’t heard “himbo” before, and I’m not so thrilled about hearing it again. I still say it sounds stupid.
On that note, I christen the illusion chick “Mighty Morphin’ Power Bitch.”
Thank you, it’s good to know someone appreciates my humble efforts.
Hmmm. And I dub Grandma Pitrelli “Lucille Bluth”.
OK…
Problem with the Isaac painting himself dead theory: just checked the scene again, and the victim has a thin mustache and beard. Isaac does not.
Before reviewing, I was going to say that Sylar absorbs Ted’s nuke power at some point, and then Peter gets it from him, but the mustached victim doesn’t really look like Ted either.
Maybe it’s Sylar? Maybe Peter cuts HIS head open?
Didn’t both Peter and Claire fall off the roof of the high school during the episode where Sylar killed the wrong cheerleader? Peter saw Claire regenerate then - he was lying right next to her - which also caused him to regenerate.
Also, he went invisible around Claude but Claude was there - he was just invisible. My guess is that Peter must have some latent ability to mimic powers even when he doesn’t know he’s in the presence of someone with powers.
My counterargument; now that Isaac is using again, I expect that it won’t be long until he grows back his facial hair, thus explaining the the appearance in the painting. We already know that when Hiro jumped to the time just before the explosion, Isaac was dead, just as depicted in the painting. All signs poiint to Isaac being offed. If I’m wrong, so be it, but I don’t think this is one of those “bait and switch” things.
Dramatically, I think it’s a great touch. He is foretelling his own fate. What could be more tragic? And offing Sylar would be a dumb move; he’s turning out to be one of the best villains on TV. You can’t just off someone like that so soon.
Just rewatched the scene with Isaac painting his own death; he already has his facial hair back, the interpretation of the moustache being “thin” I think is inaccurate, the dead man in the painting has long wavy hair, is lying on the floor of a painting studio, and the gun is there as well, all as seen in Hiro’s trip to the future from the early episode. If it’s NOT Isaac there, then I’ll eat a whole turkey.
