Just finished planting a dozen coleus and impatiens in the 4 planters on the front porch. Time to give my back a little rest before digging some more. Sedentary office work doesn’t do a lot for wanna-be gardeners… Especially old, out-of-shape wanna-bes.
My cable and internet were out most of the morning. I was wanting to watch a movie. Oh well, seems to be back now.
As expected we retained accreditation but without the elusive 5 stars. The bowling program threw us off. It was recently renovated and has a new manager so i guess nobody’s fault really. I’m just glad thats over with for a while.
Sari getting that mouth cleared up may make a huge difference. Hugs to you.

Gordie is just protecting you.
I’m done with yard work for today. I cleared some dead wood from the forsythia hedge, transplanted 8 or so lilies, fed the lilies, trimmed back and fed the roses, and now I’m watering the transplanted stuff. In a bit, I’ll move the sprinkler to water the area where I removed the lilies so that soil will settle in.
I’ve got 2 quarts of strawberries to clean, and I pulled a chickie tit out of the freezer, so we may have that for supper. Or not. I don’t much feel like supper, but we shall see. Mostly I feel like a shower. Manual labor is hard!!!
It would kill him to just stare menacingly?
sari ,sorry about sah-dog.
Howdy Y’all! First thanks all the condolences. Y’all are the bestest! We met with the funeral home this mornin’ to finalize everything. The visitation will be tomorrow from six to 8 p.m. and the funeral will be Sunday at three p.m. The cemetary does not inter on Sundays so we will have a private family committal service on Moanday. Sis and I had N.O.L. at Country’s BBQ because we could smell the bbq as we were drivin’ by. As good a reason as any. This afternoon has been chill time for us which we needed. We both achieved nappage and will forage if’n we want sump’n else to eat cause we et biiiiiiiiiiiig at Country’s. I expect tomorrow to be a lot more active day as word spreads and the obit comes out in the local paper. Oh, and I called a buncha relations to inform of the details.
I had to call the funeral home after I saw the obit on their website. Several huge errors, which I thought were corrected from the draft version, were still there. I very politely but firmly stated that if these errors were in the obituary in the local paper tomorrow mornin’ life will become very unpleasant for whoever is responsible. What? I’m retired so I gots the time to fight if fight I must.
{{{Sari}}} I wish the best for sah-dog.
doggio obviously the Invisible Mole People were mountin’ an offensive. Gordie was just doin’ his job.
There were errors in both my mom’s and Old Southern Grandma’s obituaries. Not only that, the bulletins for OSG’s funeral service had her first and middle names reversed. This is my dad and uncle’s faults, for they are not known for their attention to detail. I keep them as a symbol of my family’s quirks. The obituaries, not my dad and uncle. Well, them too.

I was completely omitted from my dad’s obituary. My own fault for not living in Baltimore, I guess…
I’ve showered and I feel human again. I was icky, sticky, sweaty and I finally couldn’t stand myself. Now I can stand myself.

I hope that SahDog is peaceful for the rest of his days, sari.
I was just about to take the mandated lunch break for irk >6 hours today when the boss finally brought the adjustment that was holding things up, so I still got out by 1:30. Groceries are now bought.
As I stepped out for supper, my neighbor’s itty bitty pooch was running towards me sans human supervision. I picked Sophie up and took her home where her human didn’t even realize she had escaped. Supper was a smoked poke chop, collards, pintos and hot water cornbread from one of the local soul food places.
I hope I am peaceful for the rest of my days, and I hope they are many.
Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) made some meatballs that I was leery of, being made from pork, but they were very good.
Some idiot on the jazz music cable channel screwed up Autumn Leaves by making it bouncy, for lack of a better word, rather than sad.
I’m trying to figure out something for dinner, at almost 8 pm.
I didn’t sleep much last night, so I took a nap after we mowed the lawn. Well, he mowed the lawn, and only the front yard. As he was mowing the mailman came and I got a letter from the city telling me to mow my lawn. I figure if I got one, so did at least 50% of my neighbors. That might explain the number of people out mowing today. I’m somewhat pissed at the kid for not getting out there sooner, but I’m also annoyed with the city because the minute it stops raining they are out running inspections.
I’m a little worried about the dog, he has been sleeping since we got home. He is snoring away, but he has had only a few bites of food today. I guess the stress of the trip wore him out. Now I wish I had taken him sooner.
So we didn’t make it to the college today, we’ll go tomorrow for one test and Sunday for the other and then he is done, except for finishing a paper due on Sunday. I just got done proof reading it, he has a lot more work to do. I can tell he is not interested in this topic.
I told him once school is over his ass is mine. The back yard needs a lot of work. We got some wild flower seed out but there are other areas that need to be done. I may have to pay somebody to come out and help with the trees that need to be cut down.
I should be irking but took the entire day off. I think I need a break.
I’m not going to the service tomorrow, I probably said that already.
I need to find some dinner.
I’d be pissed at bureaucrats ordering me to mow my lawn. Citizens could hire a guy to cut grass for less than said bureaucrats make.
I don’t get pissed but I do get annoyed at the timing. The letter was dated for Wednesday and it rained all those days up through Toosday? You’d think they’d give people a few days to get it done before they go and send out notices.
Happy Saturday!
I’m up way too early but the dog is having a bad morning. I’ve been up with him since 4, now he is snoring and I’m awake.
It’s a cool 70 degrees right now, and still dark outside. Supposed to get to 89, too hot too quickly I think.
Today we go to the college and the back yard gets mowed.
I think I will go back to sleep.
Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Off to work. Short day today.
I didn’t go to bed until late because I was ticked off at certain people (who think they’re hot $#!t but are really morons who don’t have a clue as to how incompotent they are) neglected to give me any info or tell me about the changes for this morning.
Then, with a low of only 65º, I intentionally didn’t close the winders last night. Around 4:30, the threatened LOUD thunderboomers rolled thru. Around 5:30 the churdies started to burp. Anyone know Tom Lehrer’s phone number?
Iss gonna be a loooong day.
Washington isn’t too far from me. It’s about 1.75 hours to the closest Metro station, then a short train ride into the city. I’m sure we can round up a few of us at some point.
I was also at the March for Science, but wasn’t able to hook up with FCM or MetalMouse. It wasn’t for lack of trying, just a lot of missed calls back and forth.
Been up since about four this morning for no good reason. Time to wander back to bed.
