Must have been the night for lost sleep - I woke at 3:30-ish, partly because I was too hot. It took over an hour to doze off again, and I finally gave up at 6, after some bizarro dreaming. I had a hard time falling asleep last night - they neighbor had the radio/stereo? up loud in the back yard, so I had to close my windows. Hence getting hot overnight.
But since rising, I’ve fed the dog, given treats to the cats, hauled the laundry downstairs, and started the first load. A high school friend is coming by to drop off her dog on her way to a funeral in Virginia. Then she’ll come hang with us for a while. I have to remember to close the dining room door. Last time the dog was here, she ran thru the screen of the dining room door, and I’d prefer to avoid that fiasco.
I hope to get the ditch mowed, and I’d like to transplant some more lilies - we’ll see how that goes. It’s supposed to hit 90°, which isn’t ideal grubbing-in-the-yard weather. Maybe I’ll clean the shed instead and move flowers tomorrow.
For now, I’m going to surf and do laundry till my sweetie gets up - then we’ll decide what happens next.
8am–to soccer field
8:30-10:00am–coach boys team
10:45-12:15pm–coach girls team
12:30-1:45pm–referee U10 game
1:45-3:15pm–referee another U10 game
4:00-6:00pm–do evaluations for U12 girls team to go to Knoxville for a tournament (me coaching).
(did I mention these are all on different fields and I’ll be hauling stuff back and forth?)
So I’ll check in tomorrow with all y’all…I don’t think I’ll be doing much else today.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and mostly N.O.S. Also hyooooooooomid! The predicted high for the day is 90 and mostly N.O.S. The big plan today is visitation at the funeral home this evenin’. People have called and said they will be bringin’ food to the house later this mornin’. Nice but sis and I are hopin’ we don’t end up with twenty gallons of N.O.T. sallit, ten hams, fifteen buckets of KFC and a dozen pound cakes. Things tend to go like that down south. Oh and a chikin farms worth of deviled aigs.
I suppose I should go purtify so’s I am properly coiffed and attired to receive company. Jammy pants and tshirt are not appropriate apparently.
Third load of laundry on the lines, fourth in the washer, no sun seen yet. Breakfast was cinnamon toast and local strawberries for dessert. Vacuuming has been accomplished. Next on the list - emptying the dishwasher.
The house will have to be closed soon - it’s sooooooooooooo humid!!
Swampy those are some good eats though and it makes the giver feel better and like they are doing something. Speaking of typos my dear Mom bought her and Daddy’s plots and headstones years before they were needed. When my mama’s headstone came it had her birthdate as May 30 but it was May 3rd. Being the gracious lady she was said "I guess it doesnt matter"and i said “it does matter” so she had it fixed. I would give everything I own to have more time with my Mama. Now I all sad.
I awoke after a good night’s sleep with a horrible headache. I do not have headaches unless it’s a hangover but I did not imbibe yesterday. I took some advil and let hubby know in case I croak. One of my brothers had a brain aneurysm when he was in the Navy and nearly died so it’s probably hereditary. The only thing that saved him was he was so dehydrated from golfing the blood was reabsorbed quickly and a great surgeon. Anyway, if y’all don’t hear anymore from me…
Once the advil kicks in I shall get busy doing housework and laundry. Also must find food.
Last load is in the washer. Weeds have been whacked. Dishwasher has been emptied and refilled. **FCD **is finishing the mowage. I closed up the house and turned on the air - it’s just so muggy!!
I finally woke up around 10, and Sah-son was ready to go. Unfortunately, the dog did not co-operate so we didn’t leave until almost noon. He went outside and did not want to come in.
This dog almost never wags his tail, never has been much of a tail wagger. He was laying on the deck and a nice breeze blew into his face and his tail just started wagging.
I think we may have made the wrong choice, but we’ll give him a few more days and see if the pills help. He’s still smart and bratty enough to eat his food and spit the pill out.
The grey cat came strolling into the back yard this morning. When he saw me sitting out there with the dog, he strolled right on back out again. I know he’s not afraid of the dog, so I guess he was leery of me. I don’t have anything against him but I’d rather he not come around because if Adam knows he is out there he gets upset.
We had a thunderstorm this morning and it continued to be a bit rainy. Now it’s hot and humid. Sah-son didn’t want to mow the backyard but I got pissed at him and so he is. Actually he is just going to weed whack the tall stuff and then mow tomorrow or Moonday. I’m okay with that. I think he doesn’t understand how much it stresses me when I feel like the yard is getting out of control.
So we are home from the test. He didn’t do so well. He said the test was so screwed up, like one of the questions was a multiple choice question
A) one correct answer
B) both A and B
C) incorrect answer
D) another correct answer
He didn’t know if he should pick A, B, or D, thinking that B should have said both A and D.
He said most of the test was messed up that way.
He still has an A for the class even though most of the work and quizzes haven’t been graded.
Irked. Did get a quick private chat in with the [del]smarter rat[/del] chef while the boss nipped out; he agreed with my assessment that the good ship Cafe is leaking badly, and though the cafe ain’t bobbing along in de nile, the boss is. And yup, that is a big part of why he’s going. He’s been there since the place opened, and worked with the boss at multiple other places. I think he knows what he’s talking about.
I should just keep telling myself that I’m outta there end o’ July at the latest whatever happens, and if it’s earlier’n that I can afford to live anyway, but it’s hard to step back sometimes.
Off for two days now, I’m starting to clear out the heap 'o junk I’ve been accumulating over the last 9 years. Some of it isn’t half weird.
My shed is organized and I’m about to bring in the laundry. Then chores will be done for the day. Higgs is tolerating Button, Taz isn’t impressed, Ziva is under the bed. My friend has been gone longer than I expected - I guess no family drama ensued. She didn’t tell me what was going on, but she said enough to give the impression that her presence might not be welcomed. But I guess she was. Or they buried her too…
Anyway, after the laundry is done, I’m going to hit the shower and dress appropriately for a meal out in public. Guess it’s time to head out - the clothes won’t take themselves down.
I have survived thus far and have managed to get some things done like sorting out and reducing my hoard of clothes. I have way too many and tons that do not fit. Once I get a handle on it I will donate the excess to the local women’s shelter. Screw giving it to somewho will sell it. If i wanted to sell them I would have a yard sale. Surely there is a size 12 person there that can use these mostly new and not cheap clothes.
MyLucky Louie is feeling poorly today. He has bad knees and I think that’s the problem. He is eating and drinking and doing his business but I can tell he is not his usual self. Hubby and I had discussed going for sushi but will roast a chicken instead as it’s LL’s favorite. I don’t want to leave him alone while he is puny. He had some roast beef and a baby aspirin and is resting now. I must have left his Metacam at irk. Dammit. Surgery is an option albeit a very expensive one. He will be 11 in a few days so i just dont know.
swampy, all of that food is one reason that I usually volunteer for something like airport duty when there’s a death in the family.
butters, after all of those trips through the donation drive thru at Goodwill before and after moving this summer, I have become ruthless in getting rid of stuff. Skritches to Louie.
We got the creek cleaned up this morning. When I got home, I hit Aldi to stock up on EVOO, chili chocolate, and some good vinegars. Then, I went for a ride. Now it’s chill time.
Was at the soccer fields from 8am to 5:30pm, temperatures were in the high 80’s and the sun beating down…got home at about 6pm, took on a lot of cold drink, and suddenly had the chills so bad I my teeth were clattering and I was shaking without stop–and the thermostat was set at 74F. Had to cover up to finally stop it and then fight off sleep, but it took me two hours to convince myself to get up. Not even looking at the shower/bathtub given how red I am.
And I do this for fun…Well, I do have to admit that the boys did well (in two mini-games as part of a round-robin, we tied and won) and the girls did better (won both ends of their round-robin) and did an adequate job of refereeing the U10’s (thank dog for short fields.
Need to probably eat something, the solid food consumed today was a small bag of Lays Potato chips and a Burger King double cheeseburger.
