Hi Ho Hi Ho It's Off to Heave I Go - An Early MMP

Happy Sunday!

Chilly 37 degrees this morning at the park.
I planned on leaving early, but dogs kept coming and getting Echo out of there when she has friends to play with is damn near impossible. She wasn’t happy that we left as others were coming in, but too bad. I was sick in bed all day yesterday and not up to a long morning in the cold.

We had a windy night last night, although nothing like what others were getting. Some people lost power, but we were good.

I have a long list of things I wanted to get done yesterday, going to try to chip away at it today. I’m not pushing it though.

Good to see you again 2Gig!

I hope all goes well for you Butters, with the sale and the move.

As someone who had four wisdom teeth pulled at the same time, may I offer unsolicited advice?

Baby food.

Seriously.

Get the “chicken noodles” Gerber and you can actually have meat protein!

Also, yogurt, if your gut allows it. Easy to eat, good protein.

It’s been 20+ years and I still remember how :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: HUNGRY I was!

Good morning everyone.

It was rainy and blustery all day yesterday, with sideways rain at many points. There was an avalanche at a ski resort not too far from me. Six people were caught in it, but unfortunately one died. It’s early in the season at the ski resorts, so avalanche danger is very real, especially when it’s storming. They had winds of 100 MPH at the top there, so they had to shut down the gondola lift too. It’s about 36 degrees right now, with a high near the mid-40s. The lashing rains should abate some, but it will still be wet.

I am hoping things have calmed down for those of you in the tornado areas. It’s very sad to read of the loss of life and damage in those areas.

I got some of my erranding done yesterday and I only have a couple more gifts to buy. It was pouring down rain during most of my time out of the house, so running between stores AND remembering to take bags with me was a PITA. One store doesn’t even offer bags if you pay for them and I didn’t have enough bags with me for the stuff I purchased. But, I managed to put some of the stuff I purchased into a large gift box I had also purchased, so that made enough room for the rest of the stuff to go in the one bag I had left.

My grandson may have pink eye. They’re going to take him to urgent care today if the eye doesn’t look better than last night. I hope he doesn’t.

Today’s exciting events will include laundry, present wrapping, and other chores. Yippee.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Handegg, cleaning, and a nap are on the agenda.

Nope, it was 74 with a few spottty showers yesterday. Although Alex Catt did rip a SBD while in my lap this morning. :skull_and_crossbones: :poop:

Well, let’s see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil.
But welcome back, gigity!

{{{{nellie and kids[/b] }}}}

Butters, last time I moved I tossed 2 dumpsters full of stuff(including all the furniture but the bed).

Can we get those covered by our prescription plans? :tropical_drink:

It’s a bright, cool morning here in Northern Virginia – though it’s 11:40am, which makes it barely still morning. Today’s high is supposed to be 49, which really isn’t bad at all for December. I actually prefer this to yesterday’s warm-but-overcast weather.

I find myself really looking forward to this evening’s vocal workshop session: it will be good to sing again (plus we have an awesome guest instructor today), but I’m also looking forward to seeing my workshop friends. Between Thanksgiving weekend and our instructor being out of town we haven’t met since the day before my surgery, so I haven’t missed any sessions. It’ll be really nice to be back.

Nope, not yet. I’m a little worried that hunger will come back once I’m eating solid food again, but if it does I’ll just deal with it – or maybe it will actually help, because even though I’ll only be adding 6 oz of food to my daily routine it feels like a lot!

That’s on my list, too. I only buy for three people, and this year I had the idea to order personalized wrapping paper; the rolls were delivered yesterday. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out, and I think the recipients will get a kick out of them! And all of the gifts have arrived, so there’s no reason to put off wrapping them. But I still have some other stuff to do before I shower and hit the couch for the afternoon, and I can always wrap next weekend…

Morning all. Slept in some and been catching up on my internettin’ all morning. Ate sammiches early so I can go to dinner (Cracker Barrel) early and beat the crowd (ha!). Rain yesterday lowered the temperatures considerably, but they are supposed to be back to 70F by mid-week, so December continues to be good to my heating bill.

nellie, glad I could help, have considerable Trans-Atlantic (and Pacific) flights under my belt, they are almost always the most comfortable. And maybe you need some heavy duty hiking boots when you go out in the rain? And yeah for that Pharmicist.

Oopsie, enjoy your singing. Mom used to say that in church, we weren’t the best but folks sure knew we were there.

Feel better soon, Sari

OK, need to clean up and watch some tackleball. All y’all take care.

I’m sorry about your umbrella, but I’m glad you’re ok.

Oopsie I’m glad post-op continues to go well.

??

@2gigch1 howdy stranger! I hope they’re letting you stay inside right now. It’s just the kind of nasty weather that people like to film.

This is why I hate gondolas. They’re scary!

I wish to publish a correction to my earlier entry: the kids have one more week of school. :frowning:

The atmospheric river is hitting us at the moment. We had frost yesterday, but I don’t think we’re forecast to get any snow here.

Tonight we’re having dinner with my parents and my sister and her family. My daughter and my niece both had birthdays recently, so we’ll have a few cakes and presents too. :tada: :birthday:

Happy Sunday everyone!

Heavy weather yesterday, so we stayed home and watched the MLS championship match between Portland and NYC, played in horizontal rain in front of 25,000 screaming fans. Portland lost, but their one goal was - literally - scored in the final second of regulation time, which made for a fun OT.

My wife’s niece, who is a pilot, contracted Covid. She and her idiot husband, both of whom should know better, have not gotten vaccinated because they are so full of political hate, it’s clouding their judgment. I have zero sympathy for them.

Made some killer cinnamon rolls yesterday. Maple syrup, brown sugar, cinnamon, cardamom and orange zest (which improves almost everything).

I walked back to where I lost the umbrella, and it was still there! Hooray! Then I realized why: nobody could get to it. I thought I might have better luck climbing up to it than I would descending that steep slope paved with wet leaves, so I walked around to the parking lot below. Yikes. I would have had to scale a stone retaining wall and then used crampons, which I don’t have, to get to it. Luckily, Friday’s windstorm meant finding a very long dead branch was easy, so I went around and up to the sidewalk and after several tries, was able to snag the umbrella. Yay! And MetalMouse, I could definitely have used hiking boots.

I got a text from my daughter at 1:30 a.m. that they’d landed in Paris after a smooth (but long–9 hours) flight. She hadn’t slept much but seemed in much better spirits. At 3:30, I got another text saying they’d landed in Italy, and she felt like she’d come home. Thanks again for all the support.

Taters, I can’t imagine why anyone would want to ski in such high winds. There are some hardy souls out there. How tragic that the avalanche took a life, and I’m sure the survivors are in rough shape, mentally if not physically.

Sari, hope you’re feeling better. Echo was lucky to even get to the park since her person had been so sick.

It means the wind is so strong, it can carry off small dogs. Once one of my students was running OUT the door at the end of lunch. I called to her, and she said it was raining, and she had to get her dog. Oh, man, the excuses, right? Turns out her dog had recently been blown off the porch and had broken its little leg. It had a cast on it that couldn’t get wet, and the dog was in the yard, hence her haste. She came to class with an administrative pass: the office staff said it was the best (true) excuse ever.

Dallas-Washington on The TV, but FCD is sleeping. It’s his favorite situation - Dallas winning, Washington losing, so I should probably wake him…

I ordered a sous-vide gizmo and it was delivered today. Now to learn to use it. Well, not now but maybe tomorrow. Quiet afternoon.

Seattle-Houston here. SWMBO is watching Return of the Jedi (again), so I’ve just tuned in on my computer.

I’m stuck with KC-Las Vegas here. Currently 38-3 Chiefs. My Pats are off this week, so I’m just watching to see teams I don’t like lose.

I’m gonna try to make air fryer chimichangas for dinner.

Stay safe, all!

Hurray for washing dishes again, LOL! Congrats on your recovery.

I’m so glad you are able to make your long anticipated flight. Are you going to get a souvenir COVID booster while you are here? They are still free and available to anyone no matter their citizenship status. I’m still dropping needles but my cell phone signal has cleared right up.

QFT. Add salt and spices, then heat it. (Broken jaw from falling up the concrete steps at high school.)

Hurray! Now don’t go falling anymore, you might not be so lucky next time. Your dog/storm story made me laugh, I can sure see it!

Our tomatoes finally froze last night so I pulled the small trash can over and started working on cleaning up the bed only to find a rather large volunteer catnip hiding out. I’m giving that bed over to the posies, so far there are 4 different types of blooming plants that have moved in, so I might as well just accept that it is now a flower bed.

That’s OK, our pollinators need to eat too.

VBC seems to be feeling better and last night she ate some of her special gooshy fud, which made us both happy. We were worried about George eating her low fat food but happily he doesn’t seem to like it.

As I have doubtless mentioned more than once, hubs is pretty deaf even with his hearing aids and I know he can’t hear my alarm clock or the kitchen timers going off. Four nights ago at midnight, an alarm went off somewhere around his desk. It woke me up and while I looked, I couldn’t find the source and it shut down again. I complained to hubs in the morning because he has all sorts of gadgets and tech toys scattered around on and in his desk and I was sure one of them had went off.

The next night, the alarm went off again. Again I tried and failed to find the source and again I complained to hubs about it. The next day I got my shingles shot and was in too much misery to notice if it went off, but it did last night too. I woke hubs up and made him get up and go find it and shut it off. He thought that wasn’t fair because he couldn’t hear it and I told him I knew that but I also knew that if he was properly motivated he would figure out which one of his toys was causing it. His motivation would be knowing that he was going to get woken up and made to get out of bed every time I got woken up by the alarm.

He didn’t figure it out last night, but he did this morning.

Glad you’re not sore nellie. Did you trip at the same place as the first time? If so, a sign may be in order.

Glad you’re feeling better sari.

Got the Sunday chores done. Titans beat the Jags 20-0 and now, I’m watching some Modern Marvels.

I made chicken, veggie and barley soup for supper and will do KP soon.

FCD is happy with the game result, tho the second half wasn’t as fun as the first. We went to the gym so he could do some leg exercises, and I just rode a bike. Tomorrow, I’ll start doing some upper body exercises to strengthen my weenie arms.

We drove thru Arby’s to get sammiches for supper, and were informed that they weren’t serving any fried products. They’d had a fire earlier and the fryers were shut down till maintenance can get to them. But other stuff was available. And instead of getting crinkle fries, I ran into the grocery store and got some chips, so all that has been ingested. I also put the fresh sheets on the bed. I’m done for tonight.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated. I verged. We came back to da cave and had ham, scrambled aigs, and cheese toast for N.O.L. or Brunch. Maybe brunch cause we had breakfast food but it was N.O.L.time. Nappage got achieved. We had chili/cheese dawgs and chips for sup. Fartfest now in session. Also, the biiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow. Thus has Sunday been.

Nellie yay for the deal on the ‘script. Yay for your pharmacist bein’ such a good guy!

MOOOOOOM 1/23 and I shall be free and you shall be older than me. All kinds of reason to celebrate! :stuck_out_tongue:

Mooooooom, I remember when Arby’s didn’t even have fryers. When I was a kid, my mom wanted a full set of their Currier and Ives drinking glasses that were included with the meals, so we visited until that was accomplished. Us kids really would have rather gone somewhere with fries instead of chips.

Back from sloshing out to obtain supplies and feed the car. Doordash will shortly be bringing a belated lunch, since we slept quite late today (yes, driver will be tipped generously barring serious screwup). Brewing chicken soup is on the agenda for later, it being that kind of weather. Scheduled for probably an inch of rain tonight, and no, local drivers are NOT getting any more clue about such concepts as use of headlights in poor visibility (grump). Tomorrow promises an inch or two of rain, with lots of wind.

Got poke loin in the oven, got the Packers/Bears on game on TV.
DA BEARS SUCK.

Also, the Post Office has misdelivered my phone. I. am. not. happy.

Hope the singing went well, oopsie.

Thank you for rooting for the right team~us too! Ended up 48-9. We’re a Chiefs family.
