Is that you Andy? Andy from The Office? I love you on that show.
Seriously? I would think most educated Americans, at least, would be familiar with the names of the Ivy League schools.
Except Brown. Nobody ever thinks of Brown.
That’s what happens when you’re in Providence.
Ow, my synapses!
Actually, I’m an Ivy League Aggie, having attended the NY State College of Agriculture at Cornell (one of the land grant colleges that make up the University). The Artsies (from the private-side College of Arts and Sciences) looked down on the Aggies and HumeEccies (from the College of Human Ecology, formerly Home Economics) for being dumb. But everybody looked down on the Hotelies (from the Statler School of Hotel Administration). They actually were dumb.
I’m guessing that dauerbach was a Hotelie.
Yay, me! You dried off yet?
Yes, I guess they would, if they rely on the opinions of others. I prefer to make up my own mind about things.
Wow. I am so impressed. You graduated from an ivy league school.
You would be wrong. And about making up my own opinion…Ivy League with a cow college and home economics. How to butcher the meet and then upper level courses on how to set the table and cook it. You have to love it.
I lived with a Hotelie when I was student there. Dumb or not, I’ve never in my life eaten better than the semester he took a gourmet cooking class and spent three days a week “studying” in the kitchen.
I don’t think dauerbach is typical of anybody at Cornell.
(Bolding mine)
Cornell?
Right. My spelling really sucks. I used to catch most of the typo’s, but now rely on spell check, which does not do well with homonyms.
You’re not great on punctuation or grammar, either.
You are probably correct. And I am proud of that fact. My room mate, who was an Aggie, used to catch hummingbirds and then bitch about how the beaks always got stuck in their teeth.
You are right. This is not something I am proud of, but is a fact I have to live with. I am also miserable at geography and history.
You called it a Cow college. You are aware that when you type words here, they are maintained in a fashion that allows us to go back and read them, yes?
Yeah, for realsies, those silly Sisters of Mercy and their silly Latin. Although a guest lecturer suggested it should have been named after the misericordebecause that would have been cooler.
Right, an affectionate term for a land grant agricultural college. Not insulting at all where I come from. What would be the negative connotations of being a land grant college?
Yes, that would have been WAY cooler.
I’m glad to see this has turned into a discussion about colleges since that whole car repair thing wasn’t working out too well for you.
