This damned insurgency is in its third year and they still aren’t supplying us with the right equipment. We’re cold and hungry. Benny took a musket ball in the leg and is limping. My physician had prescribed a rest for my constitution, as it has been fraile of late. I chose to spend the last week in a little place called Porlock (are there any Porlock Dopers here?). Suddenly I had a most strange and wondrous vision in my dreame. Hundreds of lines sprange from my minde, and I had only to capture them and put them to quill and paper. I had already written fifty or so lines, and was eagerly contemplating the structure of this magnificent poem, when there came a knock at the door.

I answered the door, in a rush to return to my work, and there I beheld a shabby little man. He asked me if I was satisfied with the efficiency of my long distance messenger delivery, and if I would be interested in changing my affiliation to another service. Presumably his. :rolleyes: I tried to get him to hurry his business, even quoted my poem to him to make him understand, but to no avail. He stayed for over an hour.

By the time I returned to my work, my minde was in a disarray, and I could not continue. I may publish what I managed to write before this little man ruined my poem, but I do consider it to be unfinished…

In the BBQ Pit on Dec. 1st, 1955 - I pit the black lady who raised a fuss on the bus and made me late for work!:

I almost lost my job as a night custodian for being so late to work tonight. But I was only late because some black lady wouldn’t move her seat, and held up the bus. I mean Jeez! She wouldn’t get out of her seat and they had to get the POLICE to come in and eject her. The bus must have been stalled for an hour! Look, I’m not prejudice, but rules are rules and you gotta obey them! I mean you just can’t change the way the world works!

The schedule for performers says there are a few no-name bands playing then - ‘Jimi’ whoever and another one of those damn hippie bands from 'Frisco - ‘Big Brother’ or whatever. We can skip those loser acts, hang out for a while and get back in time to see the Mamas & the Papas close the festival!

It’s gonna be groovier than Woodstock! They’ve got a bunch of bands opening for them like the Airplane and the Dead. It’ll be a great way to end this most awesome of decades, man. Just remember, they changed the location - it’s not going to be held in Golden Gate Park, but at the speedway just outside of town.
