Ho Ho Ho - The Christmas MMP

Scary.

Two weeks ago, the boss-in-Germany (I collect both workplaces and bosses) asked me “do you have plans for the vacation week in Christmas?” I didn’t, since I had only just found out that yes, I was going to get vacation. It’s not like finding plane tickets from Switzerland to Spain for Christmas and after December 15 is an easy task, you know.

So, he gave me an assignment for this week; three documents to prepare. He thought I’d be working in our Swiss office T-F. Turns out Boxing Day is a local holiday, so yesterday no work was done.

This morning I’ve found out that the guys in the phone company store can’t tell me whether the phone company has or has not found out which of the lines in my building is “mine”. I’ve also met my appointment to open a bank account and been told that “we are having very busy day” “yes, but I have an appointment” “I know. Very busy day”. After refraining from showing to her the check for slightly over 4K€ in my envelope and telling her that she would be thoroughly welcome to kiss my ass slightly over 4K times (including 77/00 of a time), I went to another office and was. Finally. Able to open a bank account in Switzerland. YAY! And use the check for the first deposit. Re-yay!

That check is my “final check” from my previous job. It’s not a month’s pay, but a month’s plus the Xmas bonus plus some other stuff, eh! Anyway, usually in Spain salaries and so forth are paid by direct deposit, but the last payment always has to be by check/cash. My ex-boss was (understandably) angry that I was leaving, so he managed to hold it until the very last minute. I didn’t have time to deposit it before leaving Spain.

Oh: last week I got a call from that ex-boss saying that Accounting had mentioned “no news on that check”. I confirmed that yes, I still hadn’t been able to cash it. He said that after our exit interview he talked with several of my teammates and found out three others were being pursued by headhunters and taking them seriously for the same reasons I gave him. So he sort of apologized, even.

Anyway, where was I…

Oh yes.

Three documents.

Well, I’m already done with two of them. Scary, uh?

Morning, everyone. Yawn. Must get ready for work. We have a heavy day of sitting and chatting ahead of us. I’m only working until 3, which is nice.

Bob, that sucks. Aerin peeing on things is one of the big reasons why she doesn’t travel with us. Bad enough when it’s our bed, much worse if it’s someone else’s.

I’ll tell you all about the weird gifts my aunt got us, and the odd argument over Christmas dinner about the morality of Boxing Day shopping. Later. After work.

I’m all sleepy.

It is just WAY too early to be up and functioning. I woke up this morning to one puppy pasted to my chest and one pasted to my rear–the good dog was on his rug at the foot of the bed. According to my husband (for whom I get up at this ungodly hour to make his lunch and pat his head as he leaves the house), there was some sort of “explosion” around 9:00 p.m. last night (I sleep like the dead). While they love Dad to bits, if there’s any scary sounds, the pups resort to Mom for comfort. Added to this, I had a cat sleeping on my head. So, now that I have disentangled myself and have everyone assured that life, as we know it, is not threatened, I’m going back to bed.

Is that where you got the username, Lemme? (pictures LemmeOut trying to disentangle herself from half the zoo)

Welcome to all the new people!

Actually, the user name was from my great nephew who, due to much early-morning enthusiasm, had to deal with a baby gate in his younger years. “Lemme out!!” was often heard around 5:00 a.m.

But it definitely fits with emerging from clingy fur children. Remind me sometime to tell you about living with three dogs (all 60 pounds plus) in a 27-foot motorhome…

I guess I’m resigned to being up.

How dare **LemmeOut ** post on our MMP without first getting permission via email and giving tithes as well as offerings. Doesn’t she know that we have rules here?!?!?

I propose that we all argue and then assign her a fun nickname. That will teach her. In the meantime she can post pictures of her pets as forgiveness.

And make sure they’re cute G’dammit.

BBS2K, I tried to make the appropriate offerings!! Are you of the chocolate or beerverage persuasion?

::off to figure out photobucket::

My first attempt at coding. These are the canine children.

http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q161/lemmeout/100_0068.jpg??

Close but no ceegar, LemO – you need to put url= and then the url inside the first brackets, then a name for the pic, then the closing \url. So your photo can be found here.

And you had two of them plus a cat on you this morning? Oy!

Sean, how bad was the rain while I was gone? VWife and I saw lots of Suffolk highway crews picking up ‘Road Closed’ signs last night, and the fields and ditches around Hooterville NC (not VA where you are) were very waterlogged…

Or, you can also be lazy like me, and “Go Advanced”.

Then the linkee button is the one under “color” that looks like a green-and-blue ball with something that tries to be chain links.

I have a question for BooFae: what’s wrong with Monsters Inc? An English friend of mine swears that Boo channels me… she’s called me Boo since the movie came out.

G’mornin’ everyone!

The hubby saw the light and we did not attempt to go to the MAUL last night. Thank goodness, because I was just plum tuckered out.

Bobbio, I’m sorry to hear about the little incident. Hopefully, your friends will realize that it was just an accident, and not hold anything against you and the wife.

Nothing too exciting going on. Just work…boring ol’ work. I need to finish up a report, and there are about six other things I need to at least start on.

I’ll pop in later.

Cute doggies Lemmie. How’s that for a nickname?

Bobbio it was just Maddy’s little way of letting them know she felt at home.

Mop washing proceeds according to plan. Know what the worst part is? Counting the dang things and baggin’ 'em up to go back. AAARRRGGGHHH!!! The tedium… the mind. numbing. tedium. :o (That’s me yawning)

(bolding mine) Sounds like we have a volunteer for next week’s MMP… <snicker>

I’ve got one extra day off work this season. My company gives us this extra day in lieu of that fun Saturday in March when we’ll all have to come in on a Saturday to inventory the entire warehouse. Last year wasn’t so bad, as we had recently divested ourselves of the inventory of one of the large OEMs we carried, reducing our inventory significantly and allowing us to finish up earlier than planned. This year though we have not one but two new (albeit somewhat smaller) OEM’s well have to inventory, plus new lines from an existing OEM. Yippee. But that’s a few months off just yet, so for now it’s just some nice extra time off. Then I’m back in for two days and off for three. Aside from the usual attendant festivities, I do like this time of year for the down-time.

For the first time this month there’s snow on the ground! Okay, it’s a few random thin whisps in areas with no foot traffic and it’s few and far between, but there it is anyway. It’ll likely be gone by tomorrow. It’s definitely chilly out, though.

LemO (Lemon? Lemur? LOut?) - Welcome to the MMP! You still haven’t introduced yourself, but you have beautiful dogs nonetheless. And the offerings must be of the chocolate persuasion, delivered to FCM on the belly of a Nubian prince. Or something like that.

Well, I need make a coffee run.

We had 1-2 inches on Christmas between here and there. Of course, since we’re at the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay drainage path, by the time all the water settles it adds up to even more (as you well know.) We didn’t have too much trouble over on this side of the state line, and I imagine it was only moderately flooded on your side.

I’d say we got about as much rain as one dog can deposit on a mattress, comparatively.

It’s very windy this morning. After growing up in the mountains, when the wind blows like this, I expect the power to go out. However, I live in the mystical power block 50, so we don’t have power outages, or they’re very brief, since that’s the block that Valley Medical Center is on. During the rolling blackouts in the Enron days, my power never went out. If you’ve never lived where the power went out every time the wind blew in the winter, you have no idea how nice that is. And then there was the winter that I lived in the cabin off the grid. I was a real smart ass about it, “The power’s still out at my house, too.”

I like your dogs, Lemme. I love watching dogs that love the water.

My yarn order hasn’t arrived and I want it NOW. Why did they have a sale right before the holidays if they weren’t going to ship until after they were over? :: pouts ::

I am so sleepy. And at work. Doing tedious things that would never occur to me to do on a normal day.

Need me to count some mopheads for you swampy?

Welcome newbies, and now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll just lay my head down here for a few minutes…

I am beginning to see the light at the end of the mophead tunnel. One more load to wash and three more to dry. YIPPPEEE!!! I swear I can now just tell when the washers are about to stop. I’m beginning to speak their language. Tres weird.

Taters I’m glad Mr. Taters came to his senses before you had to [del]have him committed[/del] [del]slap him upside the head[/del] have an intervention.
