Hopin' for world peace in the MMP

nightshadea, I didn’t know cats lived to be that old. Poor baby, I’ll give my Atilla scritches and think of her.

I can feel the palpable relief coming through your post.

Concur that “carpet = ick” and low-maintenance fake-wood flooring is absolutely amazing, once you get to that point.

We’re squarely in “False Spring” territory here in western Mitten State. The highs today will reach mid-50s or possibly even 60 F (!!!) and everything is thawing. So much slush & mud, and dwindling piles of old, brown snow.

… but the Oracles are forecasting a bit of snow day after tomorrow, which would be Monday. There may be a :snowflake: :snowflake: snowy MMP next week!

Hi all! I haven’t been Mumping for a while (perhaps I’ll get back in the habit). Hope you all are well.

Just thought folks here might be interested in this, since we talked about Maki a while back:

https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/wireStory/maki-lemur-stolen-san-francisco-zoo-dies-22-83265643

He had a good long life.

Heaved, did a quick Harris Teeter run. I got a load of sheets in the dryer.

{{{{Shades and aunt}}}}

Feel better, Roxstar.

Yes it is.

shady I’m so sorry. Losing a pet is so hard. Are you able to take her to a vet so that she doesn’t suffer?

taters I’m glad you’re having fun with the dumpster. It is awesome to get rid of stuff.

Hi! Welcome back.

Not too much to report here. We got another 5-6 drops of rain. My dogs are still baffled by the dog door. I’m sure there’s a right way to teach them how to use it, and I’m sure this isn’t it. I’ll have to do some research.

Take care everyone.

In case anyone else is moving at some point, they are a nation-wide business. We used them in Anchorage, as well. They partner with local furniture stores for inventory.

Whew! Break time at last!

Roxy ran me ragged this morning - she made me dance with her!! It was a sad sight. And between playing various things with her, I did a load of towels. When my daughter came over with Toby, we had lunch, then FCD had a hankerin’ for DQ, so we went there.

Back home again, he went to futz in his shop, I did a little yard work, and my daughter took the kids down tho the swingset/sandbox and they played. We also talked about Roxy’s b-day party next month.

Tentatively, including Roxy, there will be 10 kids here, possibly 12 if the 2 older cousins come. Not sure how many adults. But we’ll have everyone in the basement, possibly spilling into the back yard if the weather cooperates. I figure between 2-3 hours should do it - play for an hour or so, then presents, then cake and ice cream - is that the usual order of things? Or are presents after food? My daughter will be hosting, but since it’s in my house, I’ll have some things to do. The biggie will be keeping the critters upstairs and all the guests downstairs. If my daughter’s MIL comes, she doesn’t like animals of any flavor. So we shall see.

But for now, everyone has gone home. The shop and sheds are closed up. I emptied and refilled the dishwasher and I’m having some sugar free fruit punch flavored drink. Definitely time for hard-core chillage.

shady So sorry for the loss of the kitty.

Not much exciting going on here, I’m working too much on this project. The designer keeps designing merrily along, adding more stuff, even though the event is about a month away. I’m gonna have to hire someone for like 3 weeks. Ugh.

sunny I got both of my dogs to figure out the doggie door by shutting the person door with them on the other side and then calling them and flapping the doggie door flap. A treat once they get through helps.

Happy Saturday!

Nice morning at the park, even though it was a bit chilly and some assholes moved the picnic table out of the pavilion and into the middle of the park.
Unfortunately, none of the younger, stronger people showed up to move it back.
Panini and Bread were there this morning, we love them and haven’t seen them for too long. Their dad got a new job! And was finally able to buy a car! We are happy for him.
He is the nicest man; he deserves some good luck coming into his life.

My mother is in the hospital. She had a stent put in to drain her bile duct and more tests to see if it is cancer. I talked with her last night, but between her sore throat from the ERCP, the sedative, and the pain meds, I couldn’t understand most of what she was saying.

I have stuff to do, but as usual, I don’t feel like doing it.
I think I suffer from inertia, once I get moving, I don’t want to stop, but getting me moving is a real challenge.

Welcome back wheelie! Sorry to hear that about Maki.

It was a beautiful day our and I took Nelson to the dog park for ~half hour. He got to say hi to the neighbor doggos before we left and he got to run with his buddies Jersey, Milo, Remy, Ollie and Harvey. I think the fresh air did us both some good.

Evening all. Indoor soccer is completed, spent about 6 hours either coaching or refereeing so I’m a little tired. Treated myself to the first Butter Pecan cone of the year as the Ice Cream stand is now opened. Will have to prepared some real food here shortly.

Sari, Red, glad the dogs got out and enjoyed the weather, and Shady, all the best to your aunt on her impeding loss. 23 in cat years is…old…

Sari, glad Doggy-daddie is doing better, and hope Mom-unit can get out of hospital as soon as possible.

Wheelie, welcome back. Stay around awhile.

Taters, clearing out the house is quite an experience, isn’t it? And I am with you, I like my sectional and it fits well in my great room, but I have no idea how to get it apart to clean. Maybe there is a service I can hire…

Dicey, never seen the Cirque du Soleil (they have 2-3 different shows now, IIRC). On my list if/when I get back out to Vegas someday.

OK, need some more sustenance than ice cream, a Mountain Dew, and a small Pringles can (my nourishment today). All y’all take care.

I’ve had this dog for 13 years, and I still love to watch her dream! The rare muffled barks are my favorite, but I also still love it when she’s perfectly still except that the tips of her front paws are twitching.

I’ve only written to one or two celebrities in my life. In high school, I wrote to Michael J. Fox: I was (am) a huge fan — I had a big scrapbook and everything — and got back a signed promo postcard of him dressed as his Light of Day character. The signature seemed to be electronically printed vs handwritten, and I remember being a little disappointed, but the postcard went into the scrapbook anyway. And at some point in my early 20s I at least thought about writing to actor Lane Davies (Santa Barbara and Lois & Clark), but I don’t remember if I actually sent him anything.

I’ve accomplished very little today. I balanced my “checkbook” (aka Quicken) and started some laundry, but mostly I’ve just been watching the last season of Castle on Hulu. I’m about to take a break to get Laundry Part 1 out of the dryer and put it away, and put Laundry Part 2 in the dryer; in a couple of hours, I’ll take Laundry Part 2 out of the dryer and put it away. And before I go to bed, I shall change the sheets.

How’s THAT for mundane and pointless!!

I’m so sorry for everyone involved. 22 years is a good long life for a cat, I hope she passes peacefully.

Decluttering is amazing, how the heck did we end up with so much crap? Wood colored laminate floors or vinyl floors aren’t that expensive and can be DIY if one is able to get down on their knees and back up a bunch of times during the project.

I hope the vet thinks Polar is hunky-dory. Fingers crossed for good news.

Waves at Wheelz.

My dogs are still baffled by the dog door. [/quote]

We have a very not so smart cat who didn’t get the kitty door so hubs started by propping the door open all the way and tossing treats through it, the half the way and quarter the way until finally not so smart kitty figured it out. Your dogs are probably much smarter than our cat so you might not need to go through all that effort.

Are you me? Cause I’m all sorts of I don’t wanna until I kick myself in the butt and then I don’t want to stop.

He was a real cutie and also a pretty nice guy. It’s sad his life was cut short like that.

It’s been raining today which was nice. It rained some yesterday as well. The wrens are dating which concerns me because we usually get another freeze around the end of the month. Or not, the weather, she is a-changin.

I sent Mom a pic of my current project and she laughed for a while after I explained that I had started from the bottom because I didn’t want to count. She probably has a good point, but counting large odd numbers (61) is hard. I’m much better with 2s, 4s and even 5s, 10s are iffy and everything else means I have to pay attention and shit.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/191587192@N04/51919576792/in/dateposted-public/

It’s a small piece, 5 inches wide and 7 high, 22 threads per inch. I’m using that as an excuse, but really? I’m just lazy.

Howdy Y’all! As promised it has been a day of sloth and worthlessness here at da cave. The most productive thing we did was make martinis so we could day drink on the back porch. ‘Twas nice sittin’ out there this afternoon with temps in the mid 80s!

{{{shades}}} so sorry about your cat. I just don’t know the right words to say.

MetalMouse glad you enjoyed the show.

Taters hope the great clean out continues to go well.

Wheelie ::takclehug:: Long time! Sorry about Maki.

MOOOOOOM hope RoxStar is feelin’ better.

sari hope your mom gets sprung from the horsepistol soonest.

Made a Cuba Libré for cocktails tonight.
:notes:“It’s only 60 degrees outside
But I don’t care…
It’s Key West somewhere… :notes:

Maggie Wonderbeagle couldn’t figure out to wal through a door that was less than 90% open. Good luck.

Welcome back, Wheelie!

thanks all it helps

Although someone should have told said cat the Ramones motto of “too tough to die” was just a saying because shes not going peacefully … she drug herself from the bedroom to the front of the bathroom because she needed to use the box… and no she didn’t want or need help but aunt put her in the box anyways so her dignity was affronted then she ate some soft food and just glared at us like we were being mean in between bursts of energy

I do hope everyone gets better and we can flush this crapper of a week soon ya know ?

OK, Mumpers, how would you react if you were to hear a dog crying for hours on end? Today it was 6a hours straight of crying, and it bothers me to schmieces. I want to reach through the floor and pet him. I went to talk to the weekend manager about it this morning. She has a dog with separation anxiety and said it takes time and training to get them to relax and not bark. I hope this dog’s people love it enough to do that. She said she’d call them instead of texting. The next step would be a 10-day notice, but they’d get four 10-day notices before they’d actually get evicted. I don’t want them out on the street, and I definitely don’t want them to give up their dog. Hopefully they’ll do right by their poor dog and avoid all that. I’ve never met them but suspect they’re very young.

I got another notice from the IRS saying they need more time. The teacher in me wants to send it back to them with a note in red pen: “You have maxed out the extensions on this assignment. You now have a zero, and I’m calling your parents. Should you have to repeat this class, please choose another teacher. I hear Mr. Putin is a lot of fun.”

{{{shady and aunt}}} That cat has sure lived a good, long life! Of course, that makes it even harder to say goodbye. It breaks my heart that the poor little thing is dragging itself around. I hope your aunt calls the vet to find out the kindest course of action.

MetalMouse, glad the concert was fun.

sunny, it never occurred to me that dogs would be baffled by a doggie door, but it makes sense. Hope they catch on soon!

cookie, glad the rental furniture is working out so well. I’ll remember that and pass it along.

Moooom, I hope the Roxstar gets better fast and doesn’t share her germs with the little man.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 56 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 88 and N.O.S. for the day. Is it Spring? Is it Summer? We have predicted high temps in the mid to upper 50s next weekend. Weather be weird. The big plan of the day is deheathenization followed by first Sunday burnch. I made a chawklit cake with chawklit pee-kahn icin’ and some sweet tea to take. I have Verge duty this mornin’. We shall start the service with The Great Litany as is our wont on the first Sunday in Lent. Sloth and general uselessness shall be in order for the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

swampy - we beat you temp-wise - it’s 59° here! And overcast, since it looks like it rained a bit. Promised mid-70s today and possibly 80 tomorrow, before temps plummet again to 40s by Weds. How do climate-change deniers rationalize such insanity?

Once FCD gets up, we’ll get cleaned up, load the car, and head across the Bay to do boat stuff. He’s going to ask that they finish up what needs to be done as quickly as possible and launch us so we can bring it back here ASAP. We’ll see how that translates. Meanwhile, we got our order of 5/8" 3-strand line - a 400’ spool. Before we claim the boat, we need to cut it into 8 or so lengths and splice eyes into one end and whip the other end. It’ll make replacement dock lines for the crappy ones on the boat now. I haven’t spliced an eye in eons. It’s not that hard, but it does require dexterity and some strength… here’s hoping.

That’ll be the day - Oxford, then home to splice.

Happy Sunday!!

nellie, the neighbor’s dog crying would bother me too. Poor pupper!

Up, caffeinating (with actual coffee this morning, trying out a return to dairy), breakfasted and fixing to do KP. It’s back to irk tomorrow.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
