Hopin' for world peace in the MMP

sari, I wish you lived closer. I would be willing to hire your son to clean my baseboards. That’s the biggest thing that keeps me hiring a cleaning lady to spring clean.

It’s 74F outside and for once this week, I’m in just the PJs and slippers, no sweatshirt, no robe. Yay. I even did some cutting in the studio this afternoon and only took 2 naps today! I think I’ll live.

Early evening here in N. Ali-bama and it’s 66F now but got up to 74F and supposed to hit 76F tomorrow, so nice weather. Managed to get in the 800 yards (32 lengths of the pool) did 400 yards, then sat in the whirlpool spa for 12 minutes, then did the other 400, each took about 15 minutes. Then into the sauna for 20 minutes and that was enough for the day. My goal is to eventually get to around 1200 yards, but for right now 800 is plenty.

FCM, haven’t seen anything blooming here (of course, I’m the Death Horseman of the Apocalypse when it comes to growing things), but it’ll be soon enough. Just don’t want to have to start mowing my grass in March…

Sari, been in that position where two people I like really can;t get along with each other; it is stressful, you just do the best you can. Good wishes for your Mom. And interesting about the saltine crackers…Ritz is definitely not the same thing!

Bumba, they have spray-painted different-color lines to show where to dig; since this is the water department. I suspect they’ll be careful. Surprisingly my yard is still pristine, as is the house next door; don’t know if they just ran out of time today or my water mains are in great shape. We’ll see tomorrow.

Yeppers. I know better too!!

Now I’m bragging:

Imgur

I’m really pleased with how this piece turned out. It’s called Grandma Pat by Paula Towner. She did such a wonderful job of picking colors, stitches and textures.

I need a better camera, there are tons of beads and metallic threads that don’t show up well.

I’ve just finished the re-fried beans and they came out pretty good. I knew the lard would make a difference, i just didn’t want to work with it.

Private companies just don’t do it right. Way back when, I was standing outside our government building when I saw what looked like smoke coming from the ground. I thought someone had flipped a cig out and went to stomp it out As it turned out, it was a break in the geothermal line used to heat the building. The County engineers came out to dig it up, but also dug up the power lines. After much discussion, they started digging more so they could put a concrete thing in to connect everything safely, they dug up the gas line. They evacuated all of the surrounding buildings but neglected to tell us until I went out to smoke.

It turned out lovely!

Felix genuinely liked tummy rubs. Allie’s opinion is more variable.

Allie sends snuggle-purrs and Misty sends coos to anyone needing/wanting them.

One of my favorite movies is on TCM tonight but it starts locally at 2:00AM. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Don’t know how many times I’ve seen it but now I’m trying to tell myself to set the alarm. Maybe I should find out if I can buy it on DVD instead.

Howdy Y’all! Home from gettin’ my forehead schmutzed. I like that word. It was a nice service and lasted just over an hour so yay for that. We decided to do N.O,L. at the hog trough Golden Corral. Since it is Ash Wednesday I stuck with fish but still et more than I should have. Oh well…

BooFae sorry for the loss of your friend.

red yay on feelin’ better!

Nameless sorry for the loss of your friend, as well. Congrats on the good medical news.

swampy, do you go meatless for all of Lent? I do, because believe it or not it’s harder for me to go without meat than sweets, or other junk food.

Naw, Nik is a sweetheart. If she offers up her floof, it is a warm and open-hearted invitation.

'Matter of fact, I can blow raspberries into Monkey’s tum-tum and he won’t even twitch.

He extends himself dramatically across my arms when I pick him up, but gives no $#!ts if I go pppbbbbtttthhhh into his tummy fur.

But what does your gentleman caller do when you go pppbbbbtttthhhh into his tummy fur?

Is THAT what the kids are calling it these days?

I went to the gym and had a pretty good workout, considering how long I’ve been sedentary. That one little spot on my back–it’s at the right pelvic bone–really bothered me, but I don’t know what to do about it other than ignore it. Maybe once I can get started with PT, that’ll help.

I don’t give up any foods for lent. I had a priest once who used to say, “God does not want you to give up chocolate! He wants you to try to be a better person.” Since then, I’ve always tried to give up some behavior, like interrupting or focusing too much on what I’m going to say next instead of listening harder. I often have to give up whatever I gave up the year before. I’m a slow work in progress.

sari, I hope brighter days are ahead. Has Barky’s mom never had a rescue dog before? Maybe she mistakenly thinks the barking means happiness? Would she take offense if you gave her a book on rescue dog care and training? Just some thoughts.

shoe and nettie, please tell Nikki and Monkey and Allie and Misty thank you. They also serve who only cuddle and purr (or coo)

I love that movie, too! I’ve always been a Russ Tamblyn fan. What a dancer! I haven’t seen it in years. I wonder if I can rent it to stream.

Mom, hope the Tobester has happier pants tomorrow.

This is one of the sweetest things I’ve read.

metal mouse, they cut our grass yesterday.

swampy, in the parish where I grew up, we always had a soup supper on Ash Wednesday and every Wednesday of Lent. My mom usually baked a couple of loaves of bread for them.

I actually did some work in the studio this evening. I’m tired, but holy crap, at least I didn’t sleep half the evening.

I had a decent day heaving. Even got to chat with Crush a bit. Napped. Now I’m up. Well, I was awakened at 3:00, because somebody needed butt skritches, but I went back to bed

Another reason I think Alex Catt is a fived toed sloth. She lets me touch her belly.

Boofae, bumba, Oopsie, sorry about losing your friends. :frowning:

It would have given you the reason to yell “OY VEY!” on a regular basis, though.

Sorry you’re stuck in the middle of things, sari. I hate that sort of thing.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Sorry 'bout that!

an uncle swears PB is great on hot dogs but he’s a weirdo on food …One thing my great aunt who had 7 kids by 3 guys used to make for lunch was peanut butter and mayonnaise …so when ne says something like that is good I always ask for a 2nd opinion lol

and s for the between friends paradox … its more complicated when your let’s just say involved with 2 people who even tho they love each other get in a snit and you have to see both sides of an argument …

Agreed! And it sure beats hearing someone whining about not having a candy bar for 40 days!

In my home parish, we had a priest who often said “I want you all to sing loud. If God gave you a good voice, praise with it. If not, get even with him!” I liked his attitude.

One of my sisters is coming on Tues to visit - ie to see Toby. She lives the closest to us, but it’s still 90 minutes away. She absolutely loves babies, but has no kids of her own. So I invited her to stop by whenever, and she immediately picked Tuesday. I need to get a loaf of plain white bread so I can make her grilled cheese for lunch. She’s a very picky eater - the Italian bread we eat won’t do - it has to be plain, square white bread. I’ll get a cheap loaf from the dollar store.

Woke just after 5 this morning so I’ve had time to get ready and have breakfast. Beats the rush of yesterday. I’m hoping Toby has his happy pants today, too!

Roxy’s school is raising tuition - not that it’s a big surprise. We’re going to talk to daughter and SIL about shouldering a share if it. We paid for this year, but because of taxes and the boat purchase, as well as FCD stopping work, we don’t have enough to comfortably pay her tuition. It would essentially take all we’re setting aside in savings each month, plus some. Not a good idea at our age. I wonder if her MIL would contribute, but she is a little odd, so who knows… I hope we can work something out. Wonder if I have a mysterious wealthy relative or stranger who’s about to die and leave me a fortune??

Yeah, that’ll happen… At least this would be the last year till Toby’s ready, because the next year, Roxy will start public school kindergarten.

Anyway, up, dressed, caffeinating, and pretty much ready for the day. Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out with haze with a predicted high of 84 and N.O.S. for the day. No big plans on the agenda for the day. I’ve had to leave the house and people five days in a row, so today shall be devoted to total sloth and uselessness except for makin’ sup which shall be grilled poke steaks, baked beans, slaw, and garlic toast. Fartfest to follow.

CupCakes I don’t do meatless for Lent. I don’t do “give ups” very well. I tend to go more spiritual with extra devotions, prayin’ the chaplet (rosary) on Anglican prayer beads and such.

red we don’t on Ash Wednesday, but on the other Wednesdays of Lent we do a soup 'n sammich supper followed by a Bible/book study for the grownups and some kind of activity for the kiddies. I don’t get into that so much however. I have in the past but don’t think it’s gonna happen this year.

MOOOOOOM hope the Tobester is less of a grumpypants today.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!
