I cut my thumb making 300 gallons of Brunswick stew for the Rescue Squad fundraiser tomorrow.
While that was happening, VWife pulled a gun on 2 [del]upstanding citizens[/del]crackheads trying to steal the puppehs from our yahd to sell as Pit Bulls.

Part two seems to be quite the interesting story…
For PoliSci, we have to write a “critical review” of an article, choosing among six the teacher gave us. We need to send him a “plan” of the review, but he won’t answer them as he gets them. Which sort of sucks, because as usual I’m out on left field. Guess I’ll prepare two plans, the “hi, this is what I really think of the obnoxious twat’s hubris” and a “hi, I’ve managed to remember how did the nuns like these things” version.
I’ve chosen the article I want to review, identified two books from the course’s bibliography I want to use for it but which weren’t available, and picked up two from the shelves which look like they may be usable. So, since I’m going down to Glasgow to return his keys to The Hordie (about time really) and have lunch with him and a few more friends, that’s what I’ll be reading on the train.
Either I’ll end up highly edumacated or I’ll fall asleep. Either works (Glasgow is the last station, so I can’t miss it).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. TGIS!!! What? It makes sense to me!
Yesterday I worked, then took a twuckload of stuff over to the church for today’s yard sale. Bein’ as I’m nice and all, I even priced all the stuff, which made those gettin’ all the other stuff ready happy because even though people were pleaded with to price stuff, hardly anyone did. That was my Firday.
Ok, rumbly tummy says to feed it, so I shall.
Later Y’all!
Up idiotically early because my internal clock is programmed to be up at 5 - especially my bladder clock. So I’ll read the funnies and Dear Abby. We’re heading to Fredburg about 7:30 for breakfast and wallpaper shopping. With luck, we’ll find the right wallpaper and get it installed this weekend.
We have got to get a start on the leaves this weekend, too. SIL raked a bunch away from the house in the back, so it’ll be easier to drive over and mulch them. Tomorrow promises to be a really nice day, so I hope we can spend a couple-three hours whipping the yard into shape. We shall see.
Happy Saturday!
I missed the Canes suck last night, but I went and saw the N.C. State club hockey team beat UNC 6-2. I spent more on beer than on the tickets for that one.
VBob, do tell the story.
Good morning all! I’m up and caffeinated - yay! I found two frozen Grands biscuits, baked em and put scrambled egg/cheese/bacon on one and orange marmelade on the other; that made a tasty little breakfast.
Yesterday I finally got my college transcripts–boy was that a blast from the past! A revelation in my selfish and pig-headed behaviour as well, unfortunately. I spent much of my college time on academic probation; it’s a wonder they hadn’t kicked me out. I did turn things around so that my GPA by last semester was 2.7, bringing the overall up to 2.1. This was when I joined the ashram, SpecialOne, the major reason I did NOT finish my college degree. I do promise to share that story some time, but need to do it when I won’t come out sounding too harsh about the group because believe it or not, they were not all that bad for me (i.e, the raising of the GPA). At any rate, the next step is to see what might be done to actually get my undergrad degree, so we shall see.
At least it appears to be a sunny and warmer Saturday this week than the past 3-4! LOL Enjoy the day, all.
gorgeous day today - I am dressed, fed, & medicated - all I need now is huge amounts of coffee . . . .
Bluuuuuuurf.
I should have slept in longer this morning. I’m going to be regretting it later… though I’ve got a buttload of things I must do before heading out to The Shopaholic’s to set up for her bachelorette.
Methinks by Sunday afternoon, I’ll remember exactly why I gave up partying all weekend long.
Back from our Fredburg adventures. We got some wallpaper with sailboats on it - at it was on clearance, so the 3 double rolls cost just $2 than one double roll of my second choice. So yay! I’m about to prime the walls in the bathroom - we might be able to paper tonight, but more likely tomorrow.
Off to be productive. I really should be outside raking and enjoying the autumn, but I only have this weekend and next to finish the bathroom, so I need to get my buns in gear…
Haven’t read yet because I’m incredibly excited to report:
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!111111!
My iBook, which I have been missing terribly, has resurrected itself!!!1!!
I was cleaning and, on a whim, decided to plug it in and push the power button, expecting it to do what it’s done the last 20 times or so that I’ve tried it (i.e. nothing) and all of a sudden, I’m hearing the lovely Apple chimes and I’m in business again. I’ve updated the software and am happily using it while uninstalling/installing/reinstalling all kinds of stuff on the PC laptop.
This turns out to be the best of all worlds as I’ll now be able to do stuff like watch hulu on the PC laptop (which has a bigger screen and can be connected to the TV) while surfing/doing other stuff on the iBook. Yipee!!!
In other tales of computer woe, however, I’ve had to do a system restore on the laptop (which is what was making me extra-miss the iBook) and am in the middle of the lengthy process of setting the darn thing up.
I’ll be back to actually read and comment on the other stuff, but had to share the excitement.
Hugs.
GT
Walls are primed. Now I’ve got to scrub the door frame, then paint it. Daughter and I will paper tomorrow.
Poke for supper. With broccoli.
No more cuppy cakes, tho. Alas…
gt- YAY!
Back from errands - first stop was for coffee (of course) then I was able to take care of everything else. Friend M broke her foot two weeks ago, so that means I’ll have to pick her up and drop her off if I want to have dinner with her this evening. Small price to pay.
my first official lolcat
VWife let out Loki and the three pups to fertilize the yard. She tried to call them in, and only one pup came. Then she saw a scuzzy guy kicking at Loki, and they went behind one of the sheds.
She ran inside, got a hideout gun and her car keys, and came out just in time to see another guy holding Blizzard the pup start to put her in their shitmobile. “I’m going to count to three, and if that dog isn’t on the ground, I’m shooting.” She got to 2, and they left tire marks in the yard and on the road.
I’ve walked them today with my 12 gauge in hand. Druggies, thinking the dogs were pits and therefore easy crack money.
Dang, who knew VWife was such a bad-ass??
I got a coat of paint on the ceiling, and a coat on the door frame. I’m going do one more coat on the frame before beddy-bye.
PapaJohn made supper - the poke was too frozen for tonight. So yum on pizza.
Half the weekend gone, alas.
Howdy Y’all! It’s the WEEKSTART!!! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! What? So, I live in a different world. Get over it. SO THERE!
BBBobbio all I can say is, good on VWife for her badassness!
gt I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I sense you are all excitated about sump’n to do with a 'puter. Am I right?
It sounds like Herbs has a story worthy of a MMP. I think she should [del]get drafted[/del] volunteer for a near future MMP. I shall now entertain any and all opinions to the positive. If you don’t agree, well, just get over it. I am only interested in those who think Herbs should start a MMP.
Speakin’ of which, do we have anybody on board for Monday?
Dindin tonight is deli sammich stuff. I boughten some deli ham, turkey, chicken, provolone, cheddar and pepperjack cheese, spicy mustard and a loaf of really good rye bread all from the Pubic grocery sto’.
Oh, and I’ve had several beerverages and am not considerin’ slowin’ down.
A simple request:
If you’re looking for your son who’s on the run from the law or who is travelling with someone on the run from the law, please do not harass the staff at the hotel he may or may not be staying at. This is why we have these people called “police.”
Fortunately that little bit of drama only lasted an hour or so. Poor Squirrel AGM had to deal with her and then with the computer being weird about a reservation right after that. This, folks, is why I will not be a manager.
I agree that tarra should host an MMP in the near future, swampy.
Shoulda known the moose quote source…
Am patiently uploading pictures from the iBook to flickr. I have them backed up on a hard drive, but have been meaning to make a remote back-up that I can get to from any computer. I have pictures scattered across 3 hard drives and really want to store them in just one place and have them backed up to one place. Ahh…ambition.
Have taken apart a credenza (well, emptied and moved it away from the wall, anyway) and am about to vacuum behind it before moving it back.
Big fun chez GT tonight!
All righty. Door frame has second coat of paint - it looks good. I’ve started another kidlet afghan - a shrunken version of an afghan that I made for friends eons ago. I also cleaned the critters’ water dish and the cats’ box. I’m now going to get cleaned up and hit the rack. I’s tahred!
