House hunting, a home-sweet-home MMP

Alien ick! (I’m tryin’ on Alien as a nickname for The Vorlon.) I don’t know much about shingles except they’re supposed to be painful. Here’s to a speedy recovery.

It’s been a cool, dreary day here. Chili and cornbread were the perfect thing for dindin. MMMMMMMM…

Gonna fix the roof?

Hi Noonie!

BBBobbio that was evil! Of course, I consider evil to be a good quality.

blurf

I thought maybe I’d been gone so long no one remembered me. I am blushing, that you kept the picture. I’m glad though.

We’ve had a rough summer and fall. Hubby got put on the fat boy list, light duty; less money. He’s been working his ass off (literally) for 5 months. Today he passed his fitness for duty test! Ya!! He’s back on shift as of Wednesday. We’ll be able to catch the bills up and maybe even get a little vacation.

I’m sooo happy!

Home! Only it must have been a bit of a stressful day because the twitching is back. Grrr. It had better go away before I go to bed or it’s gonna be a long night.

I see we have some more returns! Glad I wasn’t the only one on hiatus, and glad to see some familiar faces back here Nooner, Nursey, and Spaz. Did I miss anyone?

Dunno what’s for dinner. Might do some breakfast for dinner – pancakes and sausage perhaps, so I don’t have to go out in the rain and shop.

The other day I got some free samples of dinner kits from General Mills. Macaroni Grill’s Chicken Picatta and some sort of Chinese Orange Chicken. So, when pondering dinner, I decided to make the Picatta. It was fairly decent. Perhaps needed a bit of salt, but not so much that I was able to overcome my laziness to actually get up and get it. :stuck_out_tongue:

One place I lived didn’t have A/C. This was in N.C. The next place had more air than mortar around the foundation brick.:eek: During Hurricane Fran, the building actually rocked me to sleep.

I worked, then made dinner. I left the heat on too long(you call it burnt, I call it “blackened”:D)

Welcome back Lunch, Puck, piuc(Helllllooooo, Nurse!), and Spaz, and Haze!

Sorry, Alien.

Dmark, but think of the limbo parties you could have had!

sneaks into thread Yeah, I’ve been lurking, but I haven’t been posting.

As of January 1st…I have health insurance again! WOOT! And basic dental and vision as well. I am in desperate need of new glasses. My current pair is starting to fall apart. Yay!

Otherwise, things are quiet. It’s my Friday.

Woo - welcome back Spaz, Picu, SpecialOne and whoever I might be missing. It’s good to see you all again.

Now I’m wrestling with acid reflux, and my doctor told me to get some prilosec. It works better during the day, though, and I didn’t think to get another antacid for tonight! :smack: Oh well! I’m going to try to make it in tomorrow.

When I moved out of the cult I was with, I tried to find a communal house - I should have known better on that one. I ended up at a boarding house, believe it or not, with a furnished room and private bath. No cooking, though. I saved up and eventually moved to an efficiency apartment. That furnished room wasn’t the best, but at least I had a private bath!!

Cool OP, FCM. I’ve lived in ::counts:: 8 different places, counting 1 year at grandma’s and one year in Berlin.

I wasn’t officially househunting when I found my house. I was walking to the library and took a slightly different route. And saw a little house with a For-Sale-by-Owner sign in front of it. Wrote down the number and walked by it again on the way home.
Then I got all brave and called and came over with my roommate and her boyfriend. And then with her and her cousin. And then with another friend, my brother and his kids. Next thing I knew, I was signing the contract. It’s a perfect location in a great neighborhood that I can walk around in.

Welcome back lost Mumpers!!! Don’t think I didn’t see you back there, MBG. We need your story, of course.

Tired. Looking forward to a day off on Wednesday and then Friday.

Back later…

Howdy Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN It’s the start of my work week.

Yay on impendin’ health insurance snowbunny!

Off I go in search of more caffiene and brekkie. Then I must purtify for work. Le Sigh.

I’m guessin’ Taters is in Hawai’i right now. Aloha Taters!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, at work, looking forward to a day of preparing OHP acetates for 20 tutor packs so I can send them out this afternoon for a training session next week. Envy me.

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Are you me…?

Well, except that some of the time I was hardly even lurking.

But I’m a lot better now! (not that getting to be better than I was is much of an achievement :stuck_out_tongue: :D)

Yay for insurance. Hope your whole country finally gets to join you, soon, in having health insurance!

I think I missed that memo…? I gather it was lo, many years ago – but it should still make for an interesting story!

Work continues to be ample but not overwhelming  Crossing my fingers and hoping for more of the same for a while!

These see-saw shifts are gonna kill me. I worked 3pm-11pm yesterday, today it’s 7am-3pm, Wednesday is another 3pm-11pm and Thursday (my tutoring day) it’s 7am-3pm again.

As Quiet J said when I came to work last Thursday, “How was your nap?”

There isn’t a blurf big enough.

Tuesday blurfs, y’all.

I had to get my POS pickem up truck fixed. Yup, the one that gets driven 10 miles in any given month. Three of the vacuum lines coming out of the manifold disintegrated… That’s what happens when the damned thing is 3 years older than my kid.

TVCTPMO is at it again, pulling a lot of low-level insurgent BS instead of the big battles. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I agree with mooooooooom about the time change! I woke up this morning, thought the clock said 5:22 but it turned out to be 4:22 but the dogs don’t know squat about no time change. Now I would like to go back to bed.

I just counted and I’m pretty sure I’m on abode number 17. And that’s after living in my family home for 21 years.

Anybody else going to watch “V” tonite?

Bobbio, you are really bad…but funny.

Vorlon, that’s tough! Shingles really suck. How are they treating it?

I hope today goes by fast.

Tupug

Blurf. 12-hour day at work yesterday, mostly waiting for things to run. Today’s not looking like it’s going to be much better. And I killed a couple people’s jobs so mine (with a deadline) would run. I did check with them or their manager of course, but I still feel bad about having to do that. But someone’s got to work out a better system than everyone-tries-to-run-5-zillion-big-jobs-all-at-once-and-none-of-them-run. So I’m a little grumpy today.

Bffff.

Sometimes, Tuesdays are just the sequel to Monday. Morning started off busy and degenerated into a 20 minute search for parts that ended up being something other than what he was actually asking for because he told us he wanted an X for a Y when the Y was really a Z which, while related, is very different and far more common than the Y he wanted an X for and for which I could have found his X inside of 60 seconds instead of 20 minutes. And this is a guy who works in service for the company that makes the machines he fixes. He should know that a Y is not a Z! Especially when he’s got an exploded drawing of the damn thing to reference.

Anyway…

I am definitely watching V tonight. The previews looked like they could be quite promising, and I loved the original miniseries’ … miniserieses … miniseriesesses. Pair of miniseries…ses…es.

Yeah. And the short-lived TV show based on it, too. I hope that given the original’s inevitable elevation to cult status, this new series will do well – as long as they don’t screw it up. And they’d better not. I hate it when great old ideas are refreshed and made into a steaming pile of crap.
