How do you like your eggs?

Precisely, but with toasted wheat bread on the side.

Basted egg?

IMHO, that is NOT the way of choice to properly baste an egg!

Cook the egg in the grease from the bacon you just got done cooking, then ladle the hot bacon grease over the top of the egg, to cook the white of the egg on the upside. You can still leave the yolk properly liquidy, for dipping bread into, or mixing with potatoes.

Can also do with butter or vegetable oil too, but bacon grease is definitely best.

Using water or broth instead of fat makes me sad. :frowning:

Great healthy advice, Doc!

I thought that looked weird and not tasty at all, but that guy is a health nut, so whatever. I like your way better. Bacon grease. Yum!

Portion control is everything. Smaller amounts of more deliciousness vs. larger amounts of less deliciousness.

Oh hell, more is more. Baste 'em with neutronium next time.

Poached
Over-medium
Soft scrambled

Basted eggs are THE BEST. I’ve never done it with the bacon grease method… but it sounds good too

I haven’t eaten an egg in an identifiable form in over 40 years. I’ll take mine in brownies, please.

StG

The traditional method that I learned involved adding water to a pan in which you were frying an egg, at which point you place the lid on the pan.

All of the above for me, please.

You didn’t mention egg salad. You know, hard boiled egg, chopped up with Hellman’s mayo. Maybe a little bit of chopped onion and/or celery. It’s the filling for my favorite sandwich since I was a kid (and I’m in my freakin’ 60s). Still love it.

Waitress: Sorry, I just scratched the thing you like best.

Customer: So? Go wash your hands and fix me an egg salad sandwich.

I usually eat them over medium. Basted sounds good, though- I’ll have to try that. I’d actually never heard of that before this thread.

This thread actually comes at just the right time. Eggs are my favorites- they can be made lots of different ways, are relatively inexpensive, and two eggs=one hot meal, so a carton of eggs can feed me for about a week. But scrambled or over-medium eggs every day gets a bit old, so I was trying to figure out some other ways to make them.

I’ve never actually made soft-boiled eggs before, so may have to try those.

OK, before you run away, how the hell are you doing these days?

hate eggs

Words right outta my mouth.

Why must I pick only one option? Why?

Probably because I would have picked every single one. I luuuurrrrrvvvve eggs.

Fried and sandwiched in a toasted English muffin with some sliced ham and melted cheese and a little hot sauce.

Scrambled eggs with toast has been my go-to comfort food all my life.
