So, the Presiding Bishop of the ECUSA will be in my Diocese on September 17th. The big main event will be him preachin’ and presidin’ at a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig open tent meetin’ on the grounds of the Diocesan campground AKA Honey Creek. People are all excitated about this and talkin’ about how much they want to go. My question about it was will there be a podcast I can watch from the comforts of da cave. I have NO desire to travel for about four hours to a marsh and sit inside a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig tent with thousands of people. I fear I may get the :dubious: from a lot of my co-parishioners. Nope. Don’t want to and you can’t make me. Oh and travel will be by bus which did not sell me at all.
I shall gladly take on the role of Parish heathen that day.
Pittsburgh fans are ----- different; its hard to say. One Steeler had a terrific restaurant that did fantastic until he went to another team. Three months later it closed. Wood-something-or-other.
Male dogs in general, IME. Protip: male dogs and real Christmas trees are a mixture to be treated with caution. The boys seem to find having trees in the house confusing as far as appropriate peeing places.
I’m also reminded of the time when I, at 7, brought home a Sheltie puppy. Our two male Dobermans inspected him, then, ahem, claimed him as territory. Nearly drowned the poor little guy.
On a (possibly) less disgusting side note, I have to get up an hour EARLIER tomorrow than my weekday normal, even though I’m driving to irk, so have much less commute time. Masochist that I am, I signed up for a couple of hours of OT. Need the $$$.
Today is my big race that I’ve been looking forward to and training for since January. It’s the first in a series of 3. It’s all I’ve thought about until last night when we had to take Bubba to the emergency vet. They’re keeping him overnight and ironically will be doing a final test to determine what happens within minutes of my crossing the finish line this morning.
Yep, up early again. And what did I accomplish before 0530, you might be wondering? Well, Higgs has been tended to, the smoker is heating up, and the dishwasher is sloshing away. I also, finally, cleaned the 2 grill surfaces of the ol’ George Foreman. It was raining a little earlier, but it seems to have stopped. We might get a wee bit more, but all precip is about to depart the area.
The brisket will go in the smoker in about 10 minutes. I need to be at the dentist in about 7 hours. Somewhere in there, I’ll do some laundry. So goes my day!
It’s nice and cool outside so I have the windows open for a bit.
Not only does the fresh air do me good but it makes the cat happy, and a happy cat is a less annoying cat.
He is getting fat, you can’t see his waist or feel his ribs. I bought him some ‘indoor weight’ cat food.
It rained quite a bit last night. The cable went out a few times.
There’s not much on anyway. You’d think with hundreds of channels there’d be something on worth watching.
Today is grocery day, and if it stays clear and the grass dries a bit, mow the lawn day. I might do some laundry.
{{{Sticky and** Bubba**}}} Good Luck with both the race and the vet.
Good luck, Sticky. Today was supposed to be my much-anticipated race, too but my knee is messed up & I drove past the New Bolton Center last night - that’s where they took Barbaro when he HAD knee problems. That makes this area more scary than the river in Deliverance!!!
Someone screwed up. We were supposed to two of the big cabins - with indoor plumbing & kitchens w/ fridges; instead we have three, only one of which has plumbing & a dorm fridge; which severely limits the cold drinks for 9(?) people. We were able to sleep in this morning but/because the remnants of the tropical storm. Lemme tell you, the deluge on an uninsulated, wooden cabin is loud… & is quite suggestive to the bladder. Therefore, not wanting to get wet, I peed in the bed…
… notmy bed; I got up & peed in the other guys bed.
Just kidding.
Seriously, it was so loud it drowned out the guy snoring…in the next room!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 87 and scattered afternoon/evenin’ tstorms which will disrupt planned quality cee-mint pond time. BOO! Oh well. Such is life I suppose.
{{{StickyBuns and BubbaSchnoodle}}} hope the race goes well and all goes well at the vet.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then I suppose I should purtify a bit and see what the day brings.
Happy Sattidy! I went bed bye at 8:30 last night. I’m blaming that on jet lag. It’s beauty full in no. Illinois. Mid 70s, N.O.S. and best of all, no hoomidity. Going to mess with horsie today, then visit my sister tomorrow.
Back from breakfast and Lowe’s and a quick stop at the drive-thru car wash. I added chips to the smoker and put a load of jeans and shorts in the washer. It’s pretty out, so I’ll be hanging them on the lines.
**FCD **is futzing in his shed. When he’s done with the dirty work, I’ll finish painting the last few panels. I’d do them outside, but as windy as it is, who knows what sort of stuff might be blown on them as they dry. No thanks!
I’m thinking of visiting a senior dog in Nebraska. He’s already nine, so I wouldn’ have him all that long, but if Elden(the dog) is friendly enough(his first life was bad) then I’d be rescuing a dog that needs it. He greatly resembles Nathan. I know I can’t get Nathan back, but that doesn’t matter now, I’d give a refuge to a dog that needs it. I’ll never love another dog the way I did Nathan, but I have loved all my pets, dogs or cats.
We stopped at the vet on the way back from the race and it sounds like Bubba should get to come home tonight. I’ll know more later on.
The 8K was good and exhausting. Sorry about your knee, Spidey, mine was not so hot all this week, but with a little Aleve, a lot of ice, and some KT tape, I made it.
Howdy Y’all! The sun is peakin’ out and the chance of rain has diminished to forty percent so we shall attempt quality cee-mint pond time. JDD and Partner are on their way over. That is if one has not killed the other yet. They ordered a new computer desk through Amazon, a nice mission style desk. Partner told JDD that it had been delivered to USPS and will be delivered sometime Moanday. Actually it shipped via UPS and is indeed at the local UPS and scheduled to be delivered Moanday. Partner has been like a dawg with a bone about it comin’ by the post office. For some reason in his mind he has been unable to separate UPS and USPS. I know all this via texts this mornin’. I asked Partner if he really believes his postal carrier is goin’ to deliver a big package that weighs at least a couple hundred pounds and if he really believes his poor postal carrier could even get a package that big in the little mail truck he drives. Still he cannot separate UPS and USPS in his haid. DAWG. WITH. A. BONE. I reckon that big brown truck will freak Partner out when it pulls up in his driveway on Moanday.
ETA: CupCakes every pet I have ever had I have loved in a different way but still loved all the same. StickyBuns yay for BubbaSchnoodle comin’ home this evenin’!
The chef situation has gone critical; mk3 (provisional) has gone, and we now have 7 (seven) different chefs trying out next week. We’re only open 6 days, so I don’t know that’s supposed to work. I suggested we get some score cards printed up and get the regulars to rate them all, or we’re gonna lose track.
The boss has also started advertising to replace me, even though it’s still supposed to be over a month until I leave, so we’re probably going to be getting trial waitrons soon too (I have also noticed the ad appears to be offering substantially more hours than I get, though we’re now closing one more day a week. I have not pointed that out to the other waitress). Did I mention that the place is tiny? It’s tiny. More than 3 staff and people start tripping over each other.
So I’m irking 6 days next week, not the 2 I was expecting, and it’s going to be… interesting.
I just finished slapping paint on the last few panels for the shed. **FCD **got all the wiring done. Once the panels are dry, they’ll be installed, followed by the lights, and I think he’ll be ready to move his painting stuff up there. We shall see.
Smokeage continues - can’t wait for supper, assuming the brisket is good. If it gets all dried out, I will not be pleased. We shall see.
