Home again, exhausted, and if I never have to drive to Florida again, I can die happy. FIL is doing well, Higgs traveled better than I expected, and we’re glad to be home. Guess I need to get caught up, huh?
More class!
MOOOOOOM welcome back! We got all cultured and suave while you were gone. We now have poetry! How couth is that!
ETA: Also, we used coasters. Well, except for flytrap.
Ima go lie upon the bed and watch teevee until sleepy time. I’s tahrd.
Nitey Nite!
Honest-to-goodness, this made me laugh like a crazy person! My sister is hosting a big party this weekend, and I’ll have to share this gem. Incidentally, next month, my mother and I will be flying to Heathrow, then going to Southampton to board the Ruby Princess for a cruise around the British Isles, then to Norway, Iceland, and transatlantic (in case you can’t be bothered to go back and read all of my posts…) Anyway, once we’re aboard the ship, which direction should I face to wave at you?
**BBBobbio **- eons ago when I started my very first engineering job, there was a man there who’d gotten his PE during WWII and he was still working - in fact, he was still working after 2000. Anyway, speculation in the office was that his wife didn’t want him to retire because she didn’t want him hanging around the house pestering her. He may have been a competent engineer at one time, but by the time I met him, his reputation was not impressive.
**FCD **is at Lowe’s getting some plumbing stuff to finish fixing the aquarium filter. He thought all he’d have to do was hook up the new pump, but apparently a ball valve and a check valve have failed. He should have let it all go till tomorrow. Oh well…
I do not recommend driving to and from Florida on successive days. It is not fun. I’s tahred. We left about 4 this morning because we couldn’t sleep and it took a bit over 13 hours to get here, with several stops to change drives and let the dog pee. And my brain has finished working, so I’m going to wrap this up here. Busy tomorrow, party Saturday, collapse Sunday - that’s my plans.
Then Take off you hoser!
It was not a movie but something that happened in real life would you know how to survive?
Time to kick back and chill the night away. MWAH!!
Spent 3 hours in a Irish Pub. Did not win tix for my friends, but on the bright side, I spent 3 hours in an Irish pub.
[Caddyshack]Ooo! now I know why tigers eat their young![/Canndyshack]
No giant crawfish movie?:dubious:
Welcome hoe! We even used coaters while you were gone. Except Flytrap, you might wanna put him on The List.
Welcome to The Great White North, eh?
Welcome Hoe!!!
Is that any way to talk to FCM!!!
oh boy, somebody gots some spainin’ to do, I’m glad it ain’t me
I am feeling less groggy, more alive and catching up on everything.
My uncle died yesterday, well great uncle, he was in his 90s. We weren’t real close and I know he’s not been well for along time. My great-grandmother had 12 kids, 6 boys and 6 girls. Actually she had 13 kids but one was either born dead or died shortly after birth, nobody knows for sure because the ones that were there are gone and it was not talked about. We are down to 1 boy and 2 girls. It sucks to be getting older.
{{{{Sari}}}}
And I blame Flytrap for editing my post on that one.
swampy, we ar-teests have to stick together.
Mooom, while you were gone, we all used coasters (except flytrap).
Just spent time texting, emailing and talking on the phone with family. Sis is in the horsepistol for girly procedures and wanted me to call Dad and the family here in Tennessee. I talked to her sweetie too and he’s taking good care of her and the poochies. I told her that I’d head to Houston if need be, but she didn’t think that would be necessary.
Hey! I’m artistic, too!
And hope Sis is OK.
All depends which way round this Sceptr’d Isle you go. If it’s clockwise, stand on the starboard side, if it’s anticlockwise, stand on the port side. I live in Dover, so you’re bound to go past at some point. You may even put in there, depending on your schedule. If come, bring pie.
More poetry now:
Mary had a little lamb
She tied it to a pylon.
10,000 volts went up its bum*
And turned its wool to nylon.
*“Fanny”**, for all you Merkins out there. ** A “Fanny”, in the Queen’s English, appears in front of a lady, not behind…
I am leaving home in a few mins to spend a long weekend with my doting parent. We are off to do the annual visit to the family graves down in Kent…should be a good weekend but my mother can be a bit trying at times. I rang her last night because I knew she would expect me to, and got a lecture about the fact I was planning to pack stuff this morning instead of yesterday night.
I’ve tried explaining to her that an open suitcase, however small, is also an open invitation to the cats and it gets very tiring to have to keep taking a cat out of the case in order to put something else in. Keep your fingers crossed I am not in jail by Monday for lamping the old bird…
Moooom - I’m in the middle of the country so you can wave towards land from whichever side you’re sailing up/down and I’ll see you…provided I’m facing the right way when you wave!
Ooh, where in Kent? that’s where I live!
Here’s the itinerary - looks like we head north on the west side and return to Southampton from the east side, before heading east again to Bergen. I supposed I could just include you with **BooFae **and **Nut **when I wave at the island…
Good morning! It’s a glorious 61° this morning! I opened the house last night and actually got chilly a bit as I slept. Chances are I’ll have to close things back up this afternoon, but a mid-July day with all the windows open is a true bonus!! And, of course, I’m up because Higgs is a little pest.
I told **FCD **to stay abed since he’s had several bad nights, but he’s back in the basement prepping for yet another water change. He’s concerned about the chemistry of the system because some of his invertebrates looked to be in distress yesterday. He really should get some more sleep, but instead, he’ll crash on the couch while watching TV this evening.
**flytrap **can call me whatever he wants - I ignore him anyway.
My plans for today:
[ul]
[li]a load of laundry[/li][li]a load or two of knitted items to be taken to Mom’s tomorrow[/li][li]a trip to the shop to get the car’s oil changed[/li][li]a trip to the Amish market for some melons for the party tomorrow and some corn for us tonight[/li][li]loadage of the dishwasher and tidyage of the kitchen[/li][li]whatever else come up[/li][/ul]
Yep, the excitement never ends here at FairyChatEstates!
Happy Firday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 67 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 92 for the day. Again, not too shabby for a Summer’s day in south Jawja.
{{{Sari}}} sorry for your loss.
Red hope all goes well with sis.
BooFae have a great trip and try not to kill your mom, ok? However, if a box of pointy stick weildin’ Sri Lankan ninja paratrooper spiders should accidentally get let loose, well, accidents do happen.
Today I get to roam around the territory. Ima start out local, then go down to large and in charge Camilla, Jawja, then over to large and in charge Moultrie, Jawja, and finally to large and in charge Sylvester, Jawja. That should pretty much take care of the day, so I do not foresee goin’ to the orifice at all. I’m tahrd just thinkin’ about it.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence. Oh well, at least 'tis Firday.
Happy Firday Y’all!
When reading the second item on your list, I transposed a few letters in the 6[sup]th[/sup] word & thought you were going to do this.
Ummm, Swampy, all the towns in your area seem to be large; mebbe a countywide diet is in order??? :o
Spidey they’re full of fatheads mostly.
Goofin’ off a bit before I head out. Gotta be at the first place at 8:15 and it takes a whole maybe ten minutes if’n I drive slow to get there from da cave.
Oooo, I’ve been to Bergen. And Trondheim too. But that was near on thirty years ago. I had a whale steak in one of those cities - can’t remember which after all this time.
My condolences, Sari.
SO how is everyone else doing this morning? I hope the coffee is ready - 'cause I sure need it. I think my insomnia is coming back. I’m not able to get to sleep lately until
later and later at night. But the wake-up never comes correspondingly later.
I have plans for today, but I’ll write about them later.
